    This Week in Baseball

Reyes absolutely hammers a first-pitch fastball from Hernandez for a two-run homer (his 4th HR of the year), three at-bats after backup catcher Castro's three-run blast. Mets lead 5-0.

    Well, looks like the Astros are gonna win, so here's what the Wild Card Standings are probably gonna be. Astros 65 57 .529 - Marlins 64 57 .529 0.5 Phillies 65 58 .528 0.5 Nationals 64 58 .525 1.0 Mets 62 59 .512 2.5

Granted. But those are all fairly proven guys, whereas Seo is coming off of designation to Norfolk and wasn't expected to be nearly as good. And the Marlins would just be sharing the lead.

Great game in Queens tonight. Seo turns in an amazing, entertaining performance (8 IP, 0 R, 4 H) with like ten thousand Koreans cheering him on, and Reyes has a terrific night (4 H, 3 SB) in a 1-0 Mets victory. Seo's been incredible. He's given up one run in his last three starts.

Well, right now they're not out of it by any means. Six games is gonna be tough to overcome this late in the year, but not impossible. Bonds might be the boost that gets the Giants to the top in the West, but it's extremely hard to determine how good he's going to be when and if he gets back. Considering that they would have won the division, it's hard to imagine what MLB could do. The division system isn't perfect, but it's hard to imagine one that better suits the league's needs.

Kind of a weird day for the NL Wild Card, mainly thanks to the Washington - Philadelphia doubleheader. With every team in the race having played, here are the Wild Card standings. Phillies 65 57 .533 - Astros 64 56 .533 0.5 Nationals 64 57 .529 0.5 Marlins 63 57 .525 1.0 Mets 61 59 .508 3.0 Gotta admit, I thought the Phillies and Nationals would be out of it by now. This is gonna be a hell of a race.

    This Week in Baseball

Glavine turns in another terrific performance (7 IP, 1 R, 9 H), and Floyd has a great night (gets on base in all four plate appearances) in a 5-1 Mets victory. With Houston losing and Philadelphia winning, the Mets are now 2 1/2 out of the Wild card behind said teams.

I picked up Sonic Gems Collection today, mostly for Sonic CD because it's a game I've been wanting to try for years. I played it, and...it's really disappointing. I was expecting something like the old Genesis Sonic games, only with enhanced sound and graphics. Well, the music sucks, despite it being CD quality. There's like one track I've enjoyed so far out of five levels. And what's more, the average length on each track is about ninety seconds, which would be worse if the stages didn't average out at about the same time, which also is lame. And the graphics ARE enhanced, but they're also very very ugly. I can't stand to look at most of the backgrounds. On top of that, the game's not nearly as fun as it should be. The feeling of speed seen in the original Sonics just isn't there. And the boss fights are more exercises in platforming than anything else. Remember the boss from the Labryinth Zone in the first Sonic? Imagine that for nearly every level. Yeah. It gets kinda annoying. And although I enjoy the game's whole "time" concept, that's the only thing going for it. It's like the following conversation ensued in Sega's offices twelve years ago. "Well, we've got one good idea for Sonic CD. Should we work on making it as fun as the previous Sonics?" "Nah. Let's hit the karaoke bar." "Awesome." I think Sonic 1 is more fun than CD. Hell, I think Sonic 3D Blast is more fun than this damn game. At least Gems Collection has Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters on it as well.

    Sushi, sashimi, etc..

Love the stuff. I can eat pretty much any kinda sushi or sashimi you throw at me, save for giant clam (too chewy) or that rotted soybean nonsense.
  14. Call me crazy, but isn't thirteen years kind of ridiculous? Pretty sure it only took eight the first time.

Mets waste another great Pedro start. Dodgers - Two runs on two hits. Mets - One run on TEN hits. Absolutely pathetic.

Agreed. Danny Glover alone came close to sinking the first one.

Sucks that the Astros couldn't give him an ounce of run support. Guy's almost definitely the best pitcher in the Majors with a record of 11-4. That if nothing else tells you how bad the Astros' offense is this year.

    Favorite Movie Quote?

"What's the last thing you do remember?" "My wife." "That's sweet." "Dying." - Memento "What's this 'and the rest' crap?" - MST3K The Movie "As your leader, I encourage you from time to time, and always in a respectful manner, to question my logic. If you're unconvinced that a particular plan of action I've decided is the wisest, tell me so, but allow me to convince you and I promise you right here and now, no subject will ever be taboo. Except, of course, the subject that was just under discussion. The price you pay for bringing up either my Chinese or American heritage as a negative is... I collect your fucking head. Just like this fucker here. Now, if any of you sons of bitches got anything else to say, now's the fucking time! " - Kill Bill: Vol. 1 Last one's more of a monlogue, to be honest.

Terrible game for the Mets. Their road hitting reverts to its usual shitty self, wasting a great start from Glavine, and I wouldn't be surprised if Cameron's out for the year.

Not at all. That's the worst baseball collision I've seen, live or otherwise. Both men are out of the game, and Cameron looks to be seriously hurt.

Well said. Great game for the Mets. Benson turns in a splendid performance (8 1/3 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 ER) and Wright goes 4 for 5 with 6 RBIs. Score ends up at 9-1 in a nice bounceback from yesterday. Also, the A's - Angels game has been great so far. The fans are spectacular.

So...it's the fourth inning of the Mets-Padres game, and David Wright has a single, a double, a home run, and six RBIs already. Mets up 8-0.
