If anybody cares, Baseball Prospectus (www.baseballprospectus.com) is offering a free trial of its membership services for the next week. I'm at work right now and haven't had a lot of time to check out the once-restricted articles and information, but what I've seen has been very impressive.

Well, the Mets' offense regressed back to being completely pathetic. What's most frustrating is that Mike Cameron not only couldn't come through in two potentially game-winning situations, but that he struck out looking in both situations. Absolutely maddening. I just can't understand how they can score with ease at Shea in the last two series and then go to Colorado of all places and earn six runs over two games. Against lousy pitching, no less.

Yo. And I second the petition.

Yeah, go ahead and make mine and WC's match No DQ. Thanks. =) This is gonna be an awesome show.

DEALINGS IN THE SHADOWS to open the show. I like it. Cool, a dark match. If Ward wrote that, he's a really promising newbie. The lack of commentary confused me at first, but then I realized it was a dark match and made a mental note of the author's attention to detail. Real good big man vs. big man match and a great start for Ward. Mag curses a lot. The bit with the Neck Wrench Arm Bar was really well-written in the Ghost/Manson match, both the hold itself and its effects and how Ghost got out of it. Great finish. The STF was teased throughout the entire match and it was particularly satisfying to see Machine tap to it to end the contest. The timing of this promo seems kinda odd, but its point is clear; Flesher and Hawke like each other, and Flesher has stuff to do. Cool start with Cortez and Hawke trying to one up each other on the mat. I liked the back work throughout the match, even if it didn't really go anywhere, heh. The commentry was also very well; King had me smiling every time he spoke. The Williams/Maddix match told a fantastic story; namely, that of Landon being downright scared of Danny and doing his best to just survive the match, ala Undertaker/HBK HITC. The storyline come to an end with just a fantastic finish. Maddix tried to outsmart Williams throughout the match, but in the end, it was Danny who took advantage of Landon's fear to outsmart him and get a quick pinfall. Great match. AWESOME way to start the WC/Spike match. Love it. It was like Wildchild was in the Blood Frenzy but still able to do acrobatics for the first part of the match. Good bit with WC kinda losing his steam after the beginning and Spike taking advantage of it. Very cool spot with Spike nailing WC in mid-air with the Last Dance. Good promo with Fasaki asserting himself and adding a bit of tension between him and Flesher. Ejiro's here and he's really mad. Ejiro's here and he's really an-gry. Mag laughs, and the whole world laughs with him. Even Flesher fears the Mother-in-Law. Very smart move for Toxxic to immediately take Pretlzer to the outside. Great bit with Scott keeping in control of Toxxic until he tries something a little more risky, whereupon Toxxic immediately takes advantage of him doing so. It initially seems kinda weird that Toxxic would use so many aerial moves in a submission match, but when you think about it, the last thing he wants to do is stay on the mat where Pretzler can be in control of him. Great ending. The author fills the reader in on months of history while explaining Toxxic's motivation for tapping. Oh damn. Canadian Deathmatch. Suitable way to end the Best-of-Five, I think. Great show. Terrific matches with plenty of promos to compliment them. =)

SWF Smarkdown Card for July 25th, 2005!
devo replied to Ace309's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
So uh, has anyone seen or talked to Wildchild in the last six days? I ask only because he hasn't responded to any of my PMs, one of which is somewhat urgent. -
Benson has his best start of the year (4 H, 0 R, 8 IP) in a 6-0 Mets victory. What's more, the Nationals lose in the 14th, which puts the Mets only 3 1/2 back in the Wild Card. =)
-
The scene in Anchorman with that song is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
-
Damn Reyes is hot right now. Four hits and two RBIs in the Mets' 7-5 win over the Dodgers. Pedro gets his twelth win despite having arguably his worst start of the year.
-
John Olerud. He's always been a real solid player, both offensively and defensively. In his prime, he would consistently hit over .300 and be one of the best first basemen in the majors at the same time. I always admired his hitting style because he rarely ever tried to hit the ball out of the park; he was a pure line-drive hitter and had great success with it. Not to mention that he never started shit of any kind and always added to any team he was on.
-
Jose Reyes becomes only the third player in Mets history to hit ten or more triples, as he ties the game up 5-5 in the bottom of the 7th with an RBI triple. Real good game so far.
-
Mets come damn close to overturning a six run deficit, but fall just short and lose 6-5. Losing to the Dodgers after sweeping the Padres...hmm. On the plus side, the Nationals lost in embarassing fashion and it looks like the Braves are gonna lose as well, meaning that the Mets'll still be 4 1/2 back of both the division lead and the Wild Card at the end of the night.
-
I missed 'em, if only because I enjoy going to the occasional Blue Jacket game. Yes, I know they blow. I enjoy the games regardless.
-
Who da thunk that Ishii and Graves would be part of a 12-0 shutout? If the Nats lose, Mets are 4.5 back and Atlanta and the Nats will be tied for first. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Annnnnd that's exactly what happens. Nationals lose again despite a 2-Run Homer from Wilson in the bottom of the ninth. The Braves are overtaking them much more quickly than expected.
-
And with Ishii starting, no less. =) Game ends at 12-0. Mets get the sweep, and it's their fourth win in a row.

SWF Smarkdown Card for July 25th, 2005!

I call opening promo. New stats are in the thread. Or will be in a sec, anyway. -
Cool promo from Maddix to start the show, even if I got totally lambasted in the process, heh. I love Landon's motivation. He's right when he says that getting all three three-time World Champs (and Rane's corpse) to submit to the Land of Nod would be an astonishing achievement. The bit at the end got a chuckle outta me. Good use of the show's location and gimmick in the tag match, and a nice touch with the Rev-0 entrance. Great spot with Johnson and Pretzler knocking Zyon back and forth with the Chops. I was laughing out loud at the crowd's reaction to the German Suplex. Very cool spot for the finish. TOXXIC/GHOST COMMENTS TO BE EDITED IN Great choice of a match from Jay. Hawke/Manson would be great as it is, but the 2/3 Falls Old School Rules is only gonna make it better. Hahaha. Even though I enjoyed Hawke running down nearly every member of the roster, that stood out for me. I'm afraid Toxxic is the only person I know in his promo, so I don't feel qualified to comment on it. I'm sure that if I had any idea what was going on, I'd find it to be extremely good. =) That's great, though. I know that for sure. And the rest is me. Enjoy.

Mets cruise to a fairly easy 7-3 victory. Pitching and fielding were both solid, and the hitting was much better than usual; Piazza's taken to the six spot very well so far. Go Rockies!
-
He kinda strayed from his point at the end there.

Is it ridiculous that people are getting upset over sex in a video game? Yes. Does Rockstar deserve having San Andreas slapped with this rating? Absolutely. They went out of their way to conceal explicit, if digital, sex in their game, and then lied about it. It doesn't really matter at this point, since they've sold a billion copies of the game by now anyway. I actually wish they'd caught this and given it that rating earlier, but that's probably my hatred of Rockstar talking there.
-
Woodward hits a two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the 11th. Mets win. =)
-
Christ. Mets have RISP with one out four innings in a row and can't drive anyone in. Pathetic. Game's going to extra innings.

My copy of Minna Daisuki Katamari Damacy arrived yesteday, and it's glorious. The gameplay, while remaining true to its roots, is improved by greatly adding to the variety of goals in the increased amount of levels, and the soundtrack is a marked improvement over KD's, which is saying a lot. The graphics are sharpened a bit, which is nice, and the presentation overall is a lot more polished (and flamboyant) than KD. Also, the cutscenes in this one deal with the past of the King of the Cosmos. They're fantastic. Much funnier and more interesting than the ones dealing with the creepy family in KD.
-
Hopefully they keep 'em there. It's a hell of a lot better than batting Wright 7th.
-
Goddamn. The Nationals commit three costly errors and lose to the Rockies. I'm thinking you were right, Mik.
