    RENT

    1) Yes. 2) To be fair, I walked out twenty minutes in and snuck into Good Night and Good Luck instead.

Kinda off topic, but does anyone know when tickets usually go on sale for the 2006 season? I was hoping to buy some as a Christmas gift (specifically two of the games when the Mets are in Pittsburgh), but fear that they won't go on sale in time for the holiday.

I don't get that trade if it's true. Vazquez is about as good as Benson (I'm of the opinion that Benson is slightly better) so why give up Benson and a prospect for him? Unless he's one of those guys Peterson thinks he can "fix"...

More than likely. And that's pretty annoying, considering he was going to be vastly overpaid in the first place.

I hope the whole thing's bullshit, because that's an insane trade.

Even better. The Phils really made out on this one. Man, this has been a pretty eventful couple of days after weeks of virtually nothing happening.

You're right. What's more, the Mets will probably be paying Wagner $10 million for the next few years.

I'm not crazy about this trade, but it could have been worse. I had imagined Minaya giving away all the Mets' best prospects for Delgado or Ramirez instead of only two. Delgado certainly fills the need for a great hitter at 1B, which the Mets have lacked for years now. Just hope Minaya hasn't forgotten about the gaping holes at 2B and C in the meantime...

Christ. If that's true, Minaya's no better than Steve Phillips.
  11. Whenever I'm looking at a lot of images in a row (i.e., reading manga) with Windows Picture and Fax viewer, I have to click on Actual Size with each image I view. It gets kinda annoying when it has to be done hundreds of times, once for each image. Is there any way to have the Actual Size be the default setting with this program?
  12. Good to hear. Miami has always seemed to be iffy about supporting the Marlins, and it was evident that they weren't going to get a stadium there in the forseeable future. It'll be interesting to see where they end up.

Fregosi managed the 1979 California Angels to an AL West championship and won a National League pennant with the 1993 Phillies. In his latest stint, he posted two above .500 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays. What kind of drop-off do you think Jojima will have? Let's be honest, there hasn't been a single Japanese import (that I know of) to even approach the greatness they achieve in their home country. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Besides Ichiro? I'm not quite adept at translating statistics. I can tell you that Johjima hit .338 this season with a .655 slugging percentage. He's hit 30 home runs three of the last four years. It'll take a significant drop-off for him to produce less than the other free agent catchers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, while Ichiro didn't have a huge dropoff, it was significant. His career line in Japan is .353/.421/.522, and he averaged about 17 HR and 28 SB a season. In MLB, it's .332/.377/.442 with an average of 11 HR and 39 SB a season. It also needs to be taken into consideration, that, on average, Ichiro has played about thirty-five games more per season in MLB than in the Japanese leagues. You're right, though; Jojima's Japanese stats are nothing short of astounding.

Well, if this is the end of the trade (i.e., they're not sending Nady to Boston after this), it's not a bad deal at all. Nady's younger, about as good a hitter, and can play several positions. You sacrifice a bit of defense if you play Nady in OF, but at the same time, you get someone who can play 1B just in case Jacobs completely bombs. Also, there's no telling if Cameron will ever be the same after surgery.

Man. A bunch of people have come close to toppling Fallout's amazing record, but Hawke's the first one to do it. Great job, Jay.

Hell, I'm all for defenses in between PPVs. Throw 'em at me whenever you like.
  22. I'm glad to hear it. What's the penalty for a second offense, then? Edit: Never mind, got it. "Second positive test -- 100-game suspension, up from 30 days."

    Eddy Guerrero passes away

I haven't posted until now because I just couldn't find the words to convey what I was feeling...but quite frankly, the touching thoughts other TSM posters have committed to this board cover it pretty well. I hadn't cried in years. But while watching RAW tonight, I unashamedly wept several times. I miss you already, Eddie. Rest in peace.
