MTV is starting a wrestling promotion
Downhome replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in General Wrestling
From PWInsider: -
He could manage a tag team of Harry Smith and Teddy Hart, with Nattie Neidhart as the valet/wrestler.
-
Yeah, and you were the cause of that numbnuts.
-
That's fairly obvious.
-
FBTG, were you in the drama club in high school?
-
Ok, the first link is dead, the second one works, but I don't see the link actually on WWE.com anymore. Here is the latest update:
-
I don't see a single thing abou this on WWE.com anymore.
-
This entire thread went to shit because Matt doesn't share FBTG's love of beef. So does Matt go around saying that all homosexuals are going to hell and that they should die, or what? Fill us in on the specifics here. Most Christians believe that homosexuality is a sin, but not all Christians believe that they are going to hell or that they should die, and all of that bullshit. I'm a Christian, and I don't agree with that lifestyle, but I don't have any problem with people who go that way. I don't think they are going to hell, and I most certainly don't wish them death. The problem is the really psycho Christians out there, who have ruined the way people see all Christians. So does Matt just not agree with the lifestyle, or is he one of the really psycho people who bashes them, says they should go to hell, etc...?

The video is up on WWE.com now, and it's very hard to watch. Check it out.

Well, the taping of this pilot is tonight. Here are a couple of notes from today's PWInsider audio report: -If you wanted to attend the taping, they wanted people to submit their pictures so they wouldn't have "ugly people" in the audience, to stay in line with the entire "hip MTV" bullshit. -They are paying all of those "hip" people in the crowd that are going to be on camera about $8 an hour. -
That Universal Studios TNA crowd isn't a smark crowd. Hell, I don't even think they know what the fuck they are.

As long as they were all hard fought contests, I doubt the fans would turn on it. Many TNA fans are more than likely Goldberg fans already. The way Goldberg is overall, his character and everything, people expect him to kick ass more often than not, so seeing him win would more than likely be what they would want to see. As long as he didn't start squashing guys, just beating the hell out of everyone from the opening bell to the decision, it would be fine. The first few can be squashes, but after that, no. You have to admit though, it would take TNA creative to actually use their heads, week after week. Maybe build someone up as a really cocky heel in the midcard to the point that they want to see him get destroyed. Something like that could be a sort of squash and it wouldn't hurt anybody. I wouldn't even start all of that though if they don't think their team can book it the way it should be done. Is that something that we could trust TNA creative with? EDIT: TNA should keep their eyes and ears open as well. You see what this has all of us doing right now? We're already talking about it, and it isn't even able to actually happen yet. That's what they need to do, get people talking, then follow through with it.
-
I wouldn't have any problem with that, as long as they weren't all squashes. I think it's work a lot better with Goldberg/Joe also, just because of the history of Goldberg. Maybe do the big time Goldberg/Joe match, after that build like you said, then have Joe go over. Then, after a short period of time goes by, have Brock enter TNA, and then build the big time Goldberg/Brock rematch, like I mentioned before.

People need to stop thinking of TNA and WWE in the same way. It would have worked much better to have Goldberg go into TNA and do the squash thing for a while before hitting a major feud. He's a big time WCW guy coming into WWE, and no one would really think anything of him coming in doing the squash deal there, since it would be done to guys with a ton of exposure and TV time anyway. It's what they should have done with Goldberg, and one of the reasons they botched his entire run. However, with TNA, you can't have this big time WCW star, one of the most popular guys of all time, march right in and start squashing their guys. It would make the entire TNA group look horrible. If he does the squash thing in TNA, it should only be done to the most expendable guys that they have, and it shouldn't last any more than 3-4 weeks. After than, then move right on to major feuds.

You should visit the official TNA forums: http://www.talktna.com/forum/index.php

I do not think you need Goldberg coming into TNA squashing guys left and right. We already know what Goldberg is all about, we've been through that already. They have their on version of a Goldberg type character with a streak going on right now in Samoa Joe. If Goldberg shows up, sure, introduce him by have a couple of guys job to him really quickly, guys who are expendable (obviously expendable), but no more than that. Having Goldberg come in doing all of that to all of the TNA talent would do more harm than good long term. He comes in, beats a few guys over the course of 3-4 weeks, while at the same time creating his first major storyline, and once that first main storyline gets going really good, you end any type of Goldberg squashes. He can be booked succesfully, without having to do that all over again. There is more than enough talent in TNA to have him seriously work big time programs with. And like I said before, the main one would be with Samoa Joe. That is a big time money match in the making.

That's all of your TNA thoughts? Surely there is moe, since you post so much in this folder. Go on...
-
You should make a post that sums up all of your current thoughts on TNA from top to bottom.
-
You should be banned just for "getting around" the suspension. The only reason you are still here is because some people thinks that it's entertaining seeing you post, just because you seem to top your stupidity every single day.

I hold on to the belief that there are people out there, fans for many years, who just flat out want to see Sting. Sting isn't the same type of character of a Hogan, where it gets very boring very quickly. Yes, for the most part, Hogan is a one trick pony and the days of him being a performer week after week with the fans always being into him as a face are long over, even I can admit that. But Sting isn't the same type of character, I really don't think so. He's a lot more human than Hogan, and can do a hell of a lot more in the ring, and is a much more versatile character. The only real down side to Sting is that he doesn't want to play the role of a heel. Even with that though, there is a lot he can do. Right off the bat I would have had him feud with JJ over the title for a month, two at the most. The one thing TNA doesn't want to do is another long ass feud like Hogan/Sting, where they string it along for months and months. Having Sting win the title would have been a huge thing in TNA, the fans would have went crazy over it. Then they could have moved him into a program where Christian slowly turns on Sting, being pissed that he was giving the show before was, and he got the title that he wanted so damn much. Sting that along for a little while, and have Christian beat Sting for the title down the line. From there move Christian into a feud with someone else, maybe Joe or someone, and slide Sting into a non-title feud for a while against someone like Abyss. I wouldn't get tired of Sting being used like that, and I'm sure most other Sting fans wouldn't either. You just can't compare him to Hogan, they are two totally different type of guys.

Nothing like that, or what Foley said in a previous blog (about him feeling sorry for Edge), will be mentioned on TV. The entire basis of their "feud" will be what happens this coming Monday on RAW. Mick will either accidently cause Edge to lose (or not, maybe Edge will just be distracted by him and Cena will roll him up), or he'll be totally fair but Edge will be pissed that he still counted the three.
-
Not to mention that it would allow him to promte his TV show.

I think there is a hell of a lot of money to be made in a Goldberg/Brock match. The entire situation surrounding their Wrestlemania match was just begging for it to be shit. It was well known that Brock was just up and leaving WWE to go to the NFL, and everyone also knew that Goldberg's contract was up. It was only natural for the fans to shit on that match. If TNA booked it for a PPV, I could see it being huge, with the "correct" crowd reaction. Hell, I'd be interested in seeing them book it as face vs. face. Leave almost any storyline out of it, other than the back story about their other match. Have it be where both guys want to really go out there and have the match, this time for real, the "what could have been" come to life. Do not involve a title either. That match would be so huge, no title would be needed.

TNA is totally different than WWE. TNA has been around all of this time, and then they bring in Sting and have this "huge" debut of Sting. They built it up for weeks, had the PPV match, then the follow Impact shows did better than ever, with a climax that finally allowed the show to break that 1.0 barrier. Then, instead of following through with it and taking it to the next level, they start an angle where he retires. It was horrible that they teased him for the Impact after the PPV and he didn't show up, then when he finally did show up they did that stupid angle. I think it turned a lot of the fans off that were getting so into that angle, and if they don't play their cards right it could end up being a huge mistake. WWE can afford to bring in guys like Hogan for a short period of time and then allow them to fade away for months at a time. TNA is not at that point yet though. Since they had something that created such interest, they should have followed through with it and actually used the guy, to take it to the next level. With Sting gone now, it's back to business as usual in TNA, and the shows have become exactly what they were before he showed up. That is not a good thing.
