ECW booking should, as a rule, NOT have police arresting wrestlers for "assault". Made the segment come across real flat, plus I have no desire to see Angle/Show one bit. WWE does that same angle way too often to even mention.
-
Horrible shit there w/ Dupree - HORRIBLE. Pat Patterson has to be getting creative control or something. Then before that, we got the most obvious scripted sounding exchange by Styles and Tazz talking about Mahoney I've ever fucking heard in my life. How extreme. Wow and now they dont do the ladder match yet and instead of having something decent instead of a nice well developed ladder match w/ motherfucking Sabu and RVD, we get a Knox/Test squash against the FBI? Talk about counterproductive!
-
Wish ECW was two hours on a night like this, its almost half done and they really should put the ladder match on right after the next commercial if this match is to mean anything. But that doesnt leave room for anything else on the show either.
-
Actually probably better than most, which I think the company recognizes too.
-
I think they're trying to start pushing Credible a bit by having him "pushing" Punk to the limit a bit more than the first match they had. Apparently Vince is high on Credible's work so far so it wouldnt surprise me to have them slowly pushing Credible as a more viable guy on the roster.

Any predictions how this Diva Search show will do in the ratings? Can it even get a 1.0? Unfortunately, probably.
-
Well I gotta admit, that was entertaining - albeit fucking strange as hell seeing Foley out there dancing to that shit.

TNA better have a plan of action to make what appears to be happening here work, as it sounds like a horrible plan on paper. First, what about a proposed Sting v. Jarrett blowoff at BFG? Does the company really think anyone gives two shits about this apathetic feud, especially after the ppv last Sunday? Title or no, title, Sting could and should be used much better than this for the showcase ppv, like ummm, fuckin Christian v. Sting maybe?!!! With that said, I honestly can't see the company NOT going with Sting/Christian for BFG (title or not is irrelevant) and either Joe/Jarrett or Joe/Goldberg for BFG also at this point. This is kind of how I see this evolving.... Jarrett obviously fails this test and the fans apparently demand Sting v. Jarrett in a cage at No Surrender for the title, one last blowoff match. The impression the company wants to try to make is it will be a big deal this is booked for No Surrender sicne it was "originally the big match at the big show". It admittedly might draw interest to the marks if they do it like this. If they get Goldberg signed soon then (if they sign him, he needs to show up at the next ppv intially to make an open challenge for BFG), I see a Sting win, leading to Christian/Sting for the belt at BFG with undercard of Joe/Goldberg and Jarrett/Raven (just b/c they seem to be bringing back the Raven got screwed in Canada angle). If they dont get Goldberg signed, Jarrett wins again going to Joe/Jarrett for the title at BFG.
-
Cage should have turned AFTER Sting beat Jarrett, b/c it makes no fucking sense how Christian continued to interfere for Sting during the entire match and then out of nowhere he turns right before the finish, allowing Jarrett to win, which was supposed to NOT be the point of all this, but it ended up being, as it lacked the real fire that turn deserved due to the lame duck boring-ass booking there and associating the turn with another negative to the end of the night, that being TNA keeping the belt on JJ any longer than this needs to be. Two months has been ENOUGH, by far. The title change should have happened here, and the turn AFTER THAT. That was my main qualm with a decent overall show, but not as strong as most months of TNA ppvs primarily because of the main event, which sucked all around. The match had hardly any heat, "big time feel", etc, etc. Just was overall a piss poor match, much less main event. MOTN was probably LAX v. Styles/Daniels, but the falls count anywhere match was right up there as a close second. The rest was just kind of there, probably due to them having to rush a bit because of the fire (which also royally pissed me off how TNA has made no effort to refund anyone a bit due to the half hour of dead air time).
-
I'm hoping they just cut the womens match and the four way tag off the show with the loss of time....it seems that might be happening here since they definately had plans to do the four way tag as the second match via that video package right before they had to evacuate the building. When they came back, they ran Shelly-Sabin instead and now they seem to be going to Runt-Abyss.
-
lol now we are getting random impromptu interviews here, good lord. They gotta go long on the airtime and eliminate this garbage filler shit from the replay to tie up things. Monte Brown is doing the goofiest promo here just trying to aimlessly kill time, and he's not doing too well, I can see why the company doesnt want him doing this shit anymore. This is just strange as hell.
-
This shit is bizzare, TNA better offer some small refund or something, maybe an extra half hour to the card if thats even possible (likely not).
-
Goddamn this is getting ridiculous, what do they even have to do here to get back on air? I dont even get WHY they are off-air here, it looks like everything was fixed by the end of that match and cleaning up the ring shouldnt take this long. Ugh, now we get the Sting-Jarrett story twice in a row. The fuck?!!
-
They must be trying to fix the problem still as they are stalling like crazy on air here.

The OAO Smackdown Thread for whatever today is.
RedJed replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Agreed, but one thing they could have/should have done to really push upon his MMA background was throw him in ECW. He could have great stiffer matches w/ Angle, Punk, etc, and THAT could showcase his ability a bit more. Plus I think Heyman would have given him a little more character and such. Unless Terkay has the Khali effect and they are scared of showing him on live TV with some of those errant punches? Regarding Smackdown right now, everything isnt bad at all, especially considering the talent pool being thin, but one thing I really am not feeling one bit is this Chavo/Rey angle. Rey very well may be unintentionally heeled here for the simple fact that they are portraying the Rey character as pushing the "This is for Eddie" issue so much, too much almost, when the fact is it was the company itself who was doing it, and they are just continuing to prey upon the issue by just not moving on via this feud. I think its heartless and downright messed up Chavo and/or Vicki should have to do this (do they really, though?) on camera, too. Its like before they roll, does Kevin Dunn or Vince hand them a script or what?!! I mean think about how fucked up that is if you were any of the three involved in this storyline basically. They should just refuse to do it as its going to bury Rey and Chavo doing it just as much as it would not doing it. -
Should be a good show tonight, how fucked up though is it to see Killings on the pre-show? Word is that he's in major heat with Jarrett and he may be on his way out, specifically to Vampiro's new company in Mexico (Revolution X or something). Also, Observer this week reported TNA likely hotshotting something on the ppv to lead to a really loaded Impact on Thursday, since TUF and the Ultimate Fight Night is on Thursday and they have a very solid lead-in with those shows to hook viewers.

Other than the finish, I thought Sabu/Angle was actually pretty good. Stiff match which should have been extreme rules though, of course. Here we go again with fuckin Vince making another "point" to the fans. A DQ in the ME of an ECW show is like a walking contradiction, or at least should be. Good to see RVD back, would guess we might see a four way at the ppv perhaps, although I wouldnt at all be shocked to see Sabu v. RVD and Angle v. Show at the ppv either. Rest of the show was kind of there. They are trying to build heat for the Dreamer/Sandman stuff, but Test and Knox are just uber un-charismatic, especially as some sort of team just thrown together. I'm just plain and simply not interested in this feud any further.....they would be much better off having the Bashams just work against Dreamer/Sandman instead. Thorn squash was just there. Big Show promo was boring WWE style shit that didnt need to be there, nor had a real point. Was amped to see what they were going to do with Punk, and then they did basically nothing but a decent promo, but expected more than that. Overall just a kind of "eh" show that wasnt really insulting, but just really seemed like it was on "lets not really do much of anything this week for no good reason" mode. After the impressive stuff last week with advancement of angles and characters, this really fell short of anything close to a quality followup from last Tuesday. I dont understand the value of having Rene Dupree on the roster either.

I think you mean Sept 22/23 for the Feast showings. I cant believe they have taken this long to get this fuckin thing out, and much less they dont even have a website up....YET. I mean WTF is the deal here? Anyway I'm still very excited to see it but its just really messed up how long they've delayed this one. Far worse than the whole Pulse fiasco. They could have earned something though off the heels of Greenlight, but my assumption is they balked at the cross promotion when Greenlight kind of bombed in the ratings, IIRC.
-
Yeah they must have re-pulled back the original date from the Aug. 25 one. I am seeing shit-tons of previews for this right now on TV and the local theatre already has it listed for Friday release.
-
They have moved Pulse's date about three times now. Talk about confusing. I keep seeing previews for it on TV two weeks at a time, then they drop out. Weird way to try to market this.
-
In all honesty, this looks better than I thought it had any chance to be at all. I was always under the premise this was some really bad "war" movie where Cena was in fatigues all the time, shooting guns at the enemy, etc, etc. Instead its this and it doesnt look THAT bad from the previews.

May be kind of late to just throw down general thoughts but I will anyway... This show, for the first time since this experiment, SEEMED ECW to me and not just WWE produced by-product of something they want it to be. It was more than just being at Hammerstein, although that most definately was a strong proponent of the feel of the show. But the show was booked in alot of ways seemingly to cater to those old ECW fans and especially the ones who at least saw the ONS shows. Seemed just as historic and poinient of a show, if not more in some ways, than the past two ONS shows to be honest. I was shocked to see some old ECW refs back in there as well. Lots of good stuff was here, and the only bad stuff was shit on so bad by the crowd that it really made a point hard to avoid, even by McMahon standards. The opening stuff all seemed like your typical ECW brawl, which to be honest has been missing from the shows anyway. Marked out for the barbed wire spots as I thought it was going to just be a tease, but it played into the Heyman-Dreamer story fantastic and finally I WANT to see this feud keep going with a possible Sandman/Dreamer v. Bashams feud? The CM Punk debut was just a home run. I honestly have always enjoyed him a bit but last night took it to a whole new level. Hadnt seen much of anything from him from the past year or so, and this was the epitome of a first good impression with the TV debut here. I dont think I've seen a debut match win be so impressive to be honest. From the crowd reaction to the timing of everything, and more than anything the uniqueness of the style he was allowed to work here will go a long way hopefully to establishing ECW as not just a WWE lite thing. If other guys work like Punk did, this WILL be at least in that respect a true alternative to the WWE product. Angle squash was what it was, neither bad nor real good but just needed to be there. The main event was just surreal, seeing Batista totally melt into absolute shit in front of the crowd. Show kept playing it off ok but, wow, they both just put on a completely horrifying match that deserved every second of those crazy chants. I would have loved to be in the back as an old ECW alumni, seeing this shit and then watching Vince's reaction. It's just so telling in the big scheme of things.....even after it appeared WWE killed off the old ECW crowd, they are still very much alive and passionate about the state of things. What the hell were they thinking the crowd would do with a match like this? The very least they could have tried was using some buttons and whistles like Flair/Show, another match I completely thought the crowd was going to shit on but it went the complete opposite. But Van Dam is back next week anyway and they can now move forward of stopping these Show v. random WWE guy for main event title matches and move more towards Sabu and Van Dam challenging Show. I do hope, though, that the company takes notice and if they are going to keep Show on the brand long term, they need to make him more than this fucking dumb stump of nothing that he is now into some interesting character, especially since he's champ.
-
Dave will never remove his tongue from Flair's ass/ Except the match with Show was shockingly good, and I'd be willing to bet that it was the highest rated segment of the show. That match WAS entertaining as all hell, so Flair does deserve credit there. Has nothing to do with a Meltz bias. The Douglas promo DID come off low-rent and borderline pathetic considering there is ZERO interest in Flair/Douglas anymore.

You know, I wasn't going to reply to this from UTSHU but after reading the first 7 pages, I'm going to call you Mr. Negitive now. The show was good and you really didn't even give it a chance and just shit all over it. If you really think that the new WWE's ECW is going to be like the ECW of old, your really mistaken. Accept it like we all have as well. Its one thing to wait to the show is completely over and then say it sucked and give you reasons but you didn't even do that. You just said everything sucked after every segment. I will now have the mental image of the fan from Major League 2, the one who was a die-hard Indians fan and then turned his back on his favorite team and just kept bashing the hell out of them. At least give the show a chance before you come into the forums and bash the hell out of it. (Sidenote to the mod's: I'm sorry about this post, but I just had to get it off my chest.) I can see both points here. With that said, besides the Minneapolis show (which I am biased upon since I was there live), the second week of ECW, and then last nights show, I think most weeks have really been utter shit, especially last week's show. But to each their own.

That about sums up my points on the show, although Credible/Balls was pretty bad "WWE style" for the most part. If they are having two ECW "originals" in a match, they really need to let them have free reign with the time they are given and not force them to work a style that is "accepted" in WWE world. Was pleasently surprised by it. VERY possible Heyman may have been doing the main crutch of writing on this with Vince out with the Stephy thing. Didn't seem like a Vince booked show for the most part.
