Brock Lesnar taps to Matt Hughes...

Not exactly a valid comparison. Brock WAS the NCAA champ, so he has something to build off of. He's still pretty damn young. As was said, he could be something, yet it's not surprising that he tapped to Hughes. Hey Royce Gracie just tapped Dan Severn!!!!

1000 Reasons why Late Night with Conan O'Brien

278 "The More you Know" Thanksgiving. (or maybe Christmas) Max: You know, while you're sitting with your family in your warm house, enjoying a hot meal, remember that there's people out there on the streets in the cold. They're called hookers. Go get 'em!

    Gaming Memories

Tomb Raider was very memorable for the expansiveness of the environment, it was the first game I played that really felt free. That and Jumping Flash. Then Mario 64 came out and completely blew that away. I remember when Resident Evil and Final Fantasy VII came out, I thought games would never look better. My friend popped in FFVII on his big screen after we watched Advent Children, and yikes. Those fights have not aged gracefully. Still like the game, though. Zelda, Metal Storm, Mega Man 2 and Final Fantasy were the games that really wowed me on the Nes. Zelda 2 was memorable in a really bad way. That game was horrible, and no one will convince me otherwise. During the 16 bit area, Sonic the Hedgehog, Final Fantasies IV and VI, Zelda 3, and Super Mario World were extremely impressive. Same with Actraiser. I think the 16-Bit era was really the best. There are a ton of classic games that you can pick up and play, and the graphics have aged so much better than early 3D graphics. Imo, the Snes had the best game lineup ever. It's even more stunning when you play some of the import games available through emulation. It has the two best RPGs ever in FFVI and Chrono Trigger. It has some killer platformers (all from Nintendo) that are more replayable than any 3D platformer I've played. It had great adventure games in Zelda, Metroid, and the Soul Blazer series. It had pretty much every great arcade 2D shooter. Street Fighter 2 is a classic. The only real problem with the system were the games were so goddamn expensive. I remember Yoshi's Island and Chrono Trigger were like $70. That's sick. The 64 could have been even better, if they hadn't stupidly stuck to cartridges.

    The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

I was really disappointed. Huge fan of everything Judd Apatow does, love Ali G (no Borat trailer for me, damn) and generally a big fan of Will Ferrell. I really didn't think the movie was very funny. The knife in the leg and the 'I'm on fire!' scenes were the only ones that really cracked me up. Sacha Baron Cohen didn't have much to work with, just a silly accent. The product placement gag wasn't funny at all, and the stuff with the dad REALLY dragged. Much like Bruce Almighty, the outtakes made me laugh more than the entire movie. Stranger than Fiction looks great, though.

Covers you liked better than the original?

-Ca Plane POur Moi, kick ass. -Superstar (best cover ever, IMO) -NOw I wanna be yr dog (I like Iggy's version better, but damn is this one raw) -Bubblegum -Moist Vagina All the covers on the 'Ciccone Youth' Whitey album are hilarious, and arguably better than the originals. Well, maybe not the Mike Watt song, but damn if it isn't funny. http://saucerlike.com/downloads.php Couple are here.

    The Official "52" Thread

Identity Crisis should be a prerequisite. It's pre Infinite Crisis. Its events are important to OMAC and 52, in particular. Also the Superman Sacrifice Storyline, which takes place in the middle of OMAC.

Covers you liked better than the original?

Depeche Mode's version of Personal Jesus is so much better than Manson's or Cash's. It's such a great song for driving around. Shit, you can't beat the breathing solo!

    Miami Vice

Welcome back, fanofcoils. I didn't miss you. Looks like a rental to me, though I typically really like Michael Mann's films. (everyone always forgets The Insider and Manhunter, two other really good flicks). Also, I'm not expecting any similarities, but the original show was the shit, plain and simple. Shit, I could watch Tubbs dance in front of the stripper from the Pilot episode on a loop for two hours.

    Best Feuds

The very first feud to really impress me was Flair/Vader. I was young enough, I was worried that Flair was literally going to be crippled. The HHH/Angle/Steph triangle. Jericho/Malenko Raven/Saturn v Benoit/Malenko v Rey/Kidman was an oasis in a sea of shit back in WCW. Raven/Dreamer Rock/Mankind
  14. They were introduced with unique characters, and were by and large good workers, or at least worked really hard (Bigelow). Sid's the anomaly here, but he showed up once a month, powerbombed and chokeslammed jobbers, and left. Yeah, it's not like there's a huge wealth of Indy talent that could be brought up. Seems like most people enjoyed the show. And if you pay to go to an event you have the right to boo or cheer whomever you fucking want. When I go to Mariners/Yanks games, It's my right and privelige to boo the shit out of A-Rod. Your inability to accept this, and to label anyone who doesn't like a segment of a show as a whiner, is pretty silly. After all, it would be a pretty boring board if it was just everyone saying how great everything is in WWE land. Lastly, to whoever said that RVD's matches are Rolling thunder, Five Star: You do realize that's because of the watered down style the WWE encourages, right? RVD was never a GREAT wrestler, but he was exciting, and had plenty of decent transition moves. Two I can specifically remember are a butterfly suplex and a northern lights suplex. And he had all kinds of goofy kicks and flying moves. Hell, I can't remember the last time he used his awesome split-leg moonsault in the WWE. Plus, the Van Daminator used to make a lot more sense, as Fonzie used to hold the chair up to a stunned opponent most of the time. Oh, and P.S: I'd love to see Dean Malenko as someone's manager in WWECW.

Covers you liked better than the original?

Probably, but it's hard to separate from the sentimental feelings for Cash. Like, Joe Strummer and Cash's version of Redemption song always makes me sad.

    Radio Stations you listen to

Small World. All I listen to is KEXP. I live in Seattle, which is where it's based out of. It used to be the UW radio station KCMU, now It's affiliated with the Experience Music Project, so I assume Paul Allen bought it. They have excellent hip-hop shows, have exposed me to some obscure bands that I now love like Blonde Redhead, Sleater-Kinney.(they played a Blonde Redhead song and I immediately bought their album). The only thing I don't dig is some of the World Pop music, though you'll get some gems like Hedningarna and Sigur Ros or however you spell it. I used to listen to 107.7 the End back in the good old days, and even recently, until they changed producers. Now all they play is Panic at the Disco and Angels and Airwaves and Coheed and Cambria and all that horrible shite. (have you heard the new Coheed and Cambria song? it sounds like it should be on the warm station next to 'From a Distance' or 'I Hope you Dance') Nonetheless, the end still has an excellent lunch hour, and some really good specialty shows, like their punk show Gabba Gabba Hey (which I think you can stream at any time)

    Are DELL computers any good?

The internal construction of my Dell sucks ass. I have a DVD drive and a CD burner, but I have to switch them out because I can't remove the CD player included with the computer without removing the motherboard, which I'm not about to fuck with. I did get it super cheap though, since it was a display model.

The Game is off Aftermath Records

The thought of De La Soul having a feud with anyone made me laugh, congrats. And yes, they blow away most of the acts in this thread, IMO. How can you have a Dr. Octagon album with out the Automator? And didn't Kool Keith 'kill' Dr. Octagon because he was pissed at Dan the Automator? And on an aside, what the hell happened to Del? He released two of my favorite albums right in a row (3030 and Both Sides of the Brain) and then pretty much dissapeared besides two Gorillaz songs, and that was years ago. All in all, this has been such a dumb thread on so many levels.
  22. It supposedly mirrors an earlier Jumbo/Misawa match where Misawa is destroying him in the corner and Jumbo just no-sells and lariats the shit out of him, establishing Misawa as a fiery youngster, but Jumbo as still 'the man'. Now, years later, Kawada is the fiery newcomer and Misawa is 'the man'. At least that's what I've read. It DOES look silly though. Those are some of the nastiest kicks Kawada has ever delivered, and that's saying something. I HATE the finish to Mankind/Michaels Mindgames. A cheap DQ, that I've heard rumored was changed on the fly. And a repeated thing that really bugs me: Low Ki's been in a bunch of really good matches. I absolutely hate it when Low Ki picks them up for the Ki Krusher and then just runs them into the corner. Like hitting your shoulder on the turnbuckle is going to hurt more than one of the nastiest finishers in wrestling. It would be different if he hit it Oklahoma Stampede style, but he just runs them into the corner, and sort of drops them.
