I said this on the DVDVR boards too...are you really surprised that the costume is darker? This IS Bryan "Bright yellow spandex is not realistic" Singer we're talking about, after all. So I guess we should be lucky for anything resembling color (Supes in black X-Leather...shivers...) I guess the small logo makes it less credible too. But.... I disagree with people judging the movie based on this one still shot of the costume. It's getting right up there with... WTF ORGANIC WEB-SH00TERS FUKK U RAIMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111 WOLVERINES NOT SUPPPOSED 2B OVER 6 FEET TALL THIS MOVIE WILL BE TEH SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111 And of course..... OMG HALLES B00BZ! BEST CATWOMAN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111one * * - Though not as unintelligible, TV Guide really said words to this effect, IIRC, when pitting CINO against the likes of Julie, Michelle, et al. And you can add to this the idea of comedian Michael Keaton as Batman (just being 1989, not many people had the internet to purposely misspell words to be cool). Anyway, point is, when in action, I think all of the above were mostly contrary to the snap judgments (well, in the case of Keaton, he did OK as an imperfect, reimagined version of Bats that hasn't aged well, especially when I have become a bigger fan of the comics and TAS versions) Basically, I won't join in on the Superman Returns bashing, not at all. I remain optimistic, as I'm just happy that we'll get this over the EXTREEEEEEEEME, edgy, character-raping, continuity-mangling, trendy-A-list-actor/actress-casting pile of dung we were threatened with before. Then again you may say this is like the Batman Begins argument ("It HAS to be good, it > Shitmacher!" BB does look and sound good though) so guess what? We gotta see it to know for sure!!!

Whoops, forgive me for not mastering all the intricacies of the death in threes rule. Still I'd at least consider Schiavo a public figure at best. Guess it depends on what your definition(s) of "celebrity" is/are.

The Musters movie directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans?

Who else sees this being made into yet another cheap racial humor debacle, with the freaky, stupid Munsters being white, while smart, normal Marilyn is some African-American actress? I love double standards, don't you? (I'm not racist, but all this is probable to true) And BTW, Sanford and Son was Caucasian first, as Steptoe and Son in the UK. -
With the Schiavo news today, and Johnnie Cochran dying days ago, the people who believe in the "threes" law of death must be having a field day.

Stan Lane when he was an announcer came up with some bad ones. Among them, I think there was Bob Holly's top rope splash being called the "Overhead Cam," and Jeff Jarrett's DDT being called the "Grand Ole Drop-re"

And let us not forget the Hulkster encouraging Bret at WM9 to get "that Jap" in reference to Yokozuna. And over at WCW, didn't Flair get in trouble cause he either did or they thought he did threaten to "jap-slap" someone? Other ones... Big Bossman at some MSG house show (back when they still televised them, mind you) to Ted DiBiase: "Your time has come...get in here so I can kick your ass!" Yes another early "A-bomb." Speaking of which... Ric Flair to Lex Luger, pre-WrestleWar '90: "Right now, with Woman by my side, I'm gonna kick your ass!" (repeats were both bleeped and unedited) How about the WCWSN when they had the talk show segment, with Rick Rude as a guest that week? Missy starts taking comments from "fans," culminating in different women claiming they had affairs with Ricky Steamboat? At one point two of said women kept calling one another a (bleeped) "slut" Then there was the whole Paul E/Madusa segment from HH92. And am I the only one who remembered the Lex Luger vs. Brad Armstrong Power Hour match, in which Luger gets several two-counts, and after each one bellows, "Dammit, I want a one-two-three!" to the ref? I was OBSESSED with this for the longest time...when my friends and I put on our own matches, whenever we got a near-fall we'd get up and yell, "Dammit I want a (slaps hands) one-two-three!"

Was it the Ask 411 article where they got questions about the "killer Pedigree"; i.e. someone inventing an urban legend that HHH killed a jobber with it? I've heard about this incident somewhere recently, which is why I ask. -
Unless you count the Rocco Rock vs. 2 Cold Scorpio match which was also on the card where the fire broke out. IIRC, Rocco tried the flaming table but missed, going through it himself en route to losing to Scorpio (and losing the tag team titles as a result due to match stipulations) This was seen in clipped form on ECW television, and you only see the table just barely lit (as I recall, they were understandably editing out moments involving fire at this point) Oh, just remembered...on the ECW weekly where they did show the Three Way Dance II title change, they showed ANOTHER flaming table moment, again involving Rocco and Scorpio from a house show in I think Chicago.

Basically EVERYTHING used by NWA/JCP in 1988. That was the perfect collection of belts IMO. Other favorites... Hogan '86 The Winged Eagle I-C from 1985-98 (especially when it was refurbished in 1988) GWF North American (modified Hogan '86)...pretty much all the GWF's belts, actually...at least by early '92 when they also got that nice new TV title...wish someone had a picture of it. And then they had to owe money to quitting champions and were left with the tag belts to represent all the titles. WCW World 1991-94 WCW World tag 1991-97 or 98? AWA World 1986-90 AWA World Tag late '80s

re: Assault and Battery, wasn't this rumored to be the new name for Public Enemy when it was thought they'd sign with the WWF in 1995? (They even had a tryout dark match at Survivor Series that year against the Smoking Gunns, IIRC)

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

About the Sasaki/OMG match being edited into a title change...if we count the Crockett/NWA days, didn't they do this to switch the tag titles back from Rude/Fernandez to the Rock 'n' Roll Express (as Rude jumped to the WWF at the time)? Weird considering that I remember them doing an interview with Manny and Paul Jones, where they gave Rude's half of the tag team titles to Ivan Koloff. Started reading this thread from the beginning, so don't know if anyone answered the Asya's debut question. Well she first appeared in the infamous "Ric Flair in the insane asylum" skits. As a play on Arn's nickname, I think she was called "Double D" or some breast-related joke. (I do remember the random loon Flair called "Triple A") Now here's one for you...do you remember when Davey Boy Smith was being pushed in 1993, and they showed some match with him and I think Vinnie Vegas or Big Sky from WCW's UK tour? The match itself wasn't memorable...what was memorable was what I think I recalled from it: Eric Bischoff doing the commentary with a fake British accent! Did this really happen? Edit: I found the WWE version of this thread...there was an ECW one too? -
As for the OTE '98 introductions, I think that should be ANNE Murray, not Ed Murray.... P.S. Steinerisms!

More Steinerisms please! Should I hate Russo more because his handling of WCW made me miss out on those gems?????

In a way I hoped that this also meant that the disappointment of hacked original FG episodes on Fox was just temporary. Then again, this was seen AFTER 10 pm. I just hope that when FG comes back, it gets a fair shake. Too many good things get shot down too easily due to politics and other BS. Which is why I have no patience for American television these days. Even if it is good, my reaction is, "How are they gonna mess it up now?" Oh well, AD and new FG being on AS gives me hope for seeing them in pure form SOMEWHERE.
-
Right, which is why I am so worried. (almost makes me want Janet to be locked away to rot MORE than I'd want Jacko to be so!) I guess I can take solace in CN also showing the new episodes, but still, the state of American TV and all, which DOESN'T need to be dumbed down or to be held back any more. Geez, it's no wonder I prefer my BBC fixes on weekends from PBS.

I don't know if it WAS cancelled or was on the brink of cancellation, but would this little program from the '60s about "boldly going where no man has gone before" or something count? Doesn't count (I think), because Star Trek was cancelled and never went back into production. Anyways, off the top of my head (counting shows that switched networks): Roswell, Buffy, Sliders, The Naked Truth, Family Matters, Step By Step. What about the famous letter campaign? Was that in response to an actual cancellation or the threat thereof? And for no other reason besides the fact that I don't want my opinions on new FG to be lost in the shuffle... Yep they need to pass the torch. Otherwise will we have to make jokes about "Triple H(omer)"? And to continue the wrestling analogies, the FG comeback being for real will be like Benoit being world champion: I'll believe it when I see/hear it. Sorry, but I am a firm believer of "once a glass ceiling, always a glass ceiling." And just like WWE, American television (especially network) constantly proves that to me. And there's the worries of whether or not we'll have the "real" Family Guy due to the Frickin' Crappy Censors. We live in a different, more dumbed down media world now. Oh well, I hear Adult Swim gets the new eps. right after they've aired...ditto with American Dad. If worse comes to worse, hopefully we'll get "the scenes the networks were afraid to show you!" on AS.
-
It was after the second season, they brought it back for a third. I believe. The only show that comes to mind is Rosewell. But I am not even sure the show was canceled at first, just more like it was going to be canceled and they didn't do it. I believe SNL was close to being canceled (I think in 1980, 1981 and 1985; Jean Doumanian, Dick Ebersol and finally the return of Lorne Michaels saved each season respectively), as was Chappelle's Show. I don't know if it WAS cancelled or was on the brink of cancellation, but would this little program from the '60s about "boldly going where no man has gone before" or something count?

I hope they do. But really, only Alanis knows for sure. Making that the biggest musical mystery, especially now that at least ONE other person knows about Carly Simon's You're So Vain...

By "Ellen," I assume you mean DeGeneres, right? Considering she has a rather successful talk show, I doubt she'd quite be game for SL. Nielsen = 0.75 on the Laurer scale EDIT: Speaking of Chyna, how she didn't end up on this show I'll never know. Though if she really does sell it/is selling it, that porno with Waltman would be pretty surreal itself! Charo = I too am a mark for her, so sue me

Feh, TAT jumped the shark since The College Years...the suspicious new face mole, boob job, and as X-E also made mention of, enlarged forehead. -

I always thought it was because they jumped shark and they wanted to get of the shark. Jeff = heat vaccuum. Now Eric, Jessie's evil stepbrother, HE was the greatest SBTB heel ever, ruined only by a 2 second job to Jessie and wussy face turn ;-) Hint/cheap plug: search for "Saved by the Bell Retro Rant" in Google Groups ;-) -

Yeah that's right. That was said in the ep were they were going to tear down The Max right? So I guess when Max left he sold it to the school. Speaking of which whatever happened to Max? He was on for the first season and then he was gone but, they still called it The Max. So, what did you do, were did he go? I preferred Matt from X-E's theory...the Max is the school cafeteria, because...EVERYTHING IN THE SBTB UNIVERSE IS IN...THE...SCHOOL! (Gotta reread "Screech's Stupid Birthday") -
If he did I would shed no tears, as he owes WWE NOTHING. For the most part I doubt he has any real friends there, and they DO have 7 years of exploiting to make up for.
