    Owen Hart's accident

    Is this list anywhere online?
  2. JMFabiano524

    Simon Inoki at WWE Headquarters..

Why, so they can kill him dead with revenge booking? No way they put him over strong in any way after what he's tried to do to them legally. WWE won't look past that to do any business. Just look at Brock's romantic interest (are they still together?) and you'll see why maybe that won't be the truth necessarily.

    Owen Hart's accident

Depends on how you look at it. I mean, they didn't have to give him the Blazer gimmick just to show him for not going along with one of their storylines. If that much is true, you could possibly look at it as Owen suffering for being a wrestler in a sports entertainment world... Me, I just wish they took what happened to him more seriously. I know a lot of us are not fans of Scooter Keith, but he did have a point as to how ridiculous it was when they are trying to give the Over the Edge "OMG this is a SHOOT!" sell for Mama Benjamin's fake heart attack...when they don't even know her "real" (in storyline) name. And don't get me effing started on what they are doing with Eddie's memory, which to them is apparently no more valuable than that of Katie Vick or Big Show's Dad.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

I remember this one from one of the Apter (or otherwise) mags: Charles Wright was originally going to be a character named "Sir Charles" instead of Papa Shango. Anyone have any insight about this, and what that gimmick was supposed to be?

    Vladimir Petrov

Funny tidbit: on the Britcom "The Brittas Empire," a Russian pianist character was named "Vladimir Petrov." Besides the Sickle, didn't he use a different finisher, called (naturally) the "Russian Hammer"?

ECW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

Oh! I got a question...this is about Stevie Richards' comeback in 1997 after leaving WCW. Obviously it did not last long, as he would reinjure his neck (which led to a surgery that messed Stevie's vocal cords some, which is why he has the raspy voice he has today). Back then, there was a story about how it happened in a match with Chris Chetti, and it was because Taz told Chetti (his cousin, of course) to work stiff during the match, because of the heat Stevie had when going to WCW. True story?
  7. Two words: ELIMINATORS BREAKUP. They were building to it, but it pretty much ended at the time of the Sabu/RVD feud.

JLU Season 3 starts September 17th

On DVDVR, I read that Bruce Timm wrote on some blog that there would be no more JLU. If so, let me insert a Vaderesque NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! here. Seems everything I like are the things that end up not lasting. I know it's not someone out to get me and make me suffer, but still, I take it to heart...like it's being said that "the things that you like/liked would never get over now! Hahaha!" And the people who worked on JLU seemed to care about its fanbase and what they wanted. I'd say 99.9% of mainstream entertainment is the complete opposite. Look at all the other comic movies/TV that "were not done right" that we had/will have to put up with! Let's pull a Family Guy and send a message by buying, buying, buying the DVD of JL Season 1! Actually, this IS FG all over again, seeing as CN has buried the show with its erratic scheduling like Fox did. On the other hand, if this is the end, at least they went out on top and the show will never suck. And one more word on CN: this isn't a new thing, them mucking around with schedules. Any Transfan who had to get a scorecard for the airtimes of Armada through Cybertron can tell you that! It's this recent trend of showing live action stuff that gets me. Even more alarming, in recent times the channel has changed its logo to its initials, which reminds me of the way the likes of AMC went. Hopefully the same sacrifice of its niche isn't on the way too. I mean, I am not a LooneyTunes/Flintstones/etc. smark who wished they went back to all shows '80s and back, so long as it's still a CARTOON NETWORK.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

I think I have the scrapped character to end all scrapped characters. Just got this from the Wrestling Chronicle, a news bite from 1990. Just think, in another reality, the would-be Undertaker and not a feathered Hector Guerrero could have been Wrestlecrap's patron saint:

    Judy Mansfield

As far as 1970s women's wrestling goes, does the name Judy Mansfield ring a bell to anyone? I ask because actually, through one of the non-wrestling forums I frequent, I've happened about the very same "Judy"! Says that she was not only active in the 70s, but was so up until around '93. Anyone got any more info about her career, and more importantly, since we are looking for actual match footage for her, are there any videos of her matches in existence on the trading circuit or elsewhere?

Saved By The Bell Questions That You Asked

BTW, question about the DVDs of TOS...are they syndie prints or the NBC ones? (the latter will not have the cuts seen when the show went to syndication)

Saved By The Bell Questions That You Asked

On the not-so-bright side, this was when Screech started being pretty much a parody of his former self. For it was then that he started exaggerating his voice...which he didn't need (from the Dustin Diamond stand-up clips I saw on E!, he could still pull the character off using his natural voice)

    Stupidest/Worst/Most Offensive Smackdown (Special)

THANK YOU!!! The segment was hilarious, Eddie ties or not. My friends and I were laughing during almost the whole thing, and when they went through the set, my one friend who never swears busts out with a "Holy shit!". Good times. As for the reasoning... Eddie probably wanted his lowrider creamated after his death. Randy was obviously helping him fullfill his wishes. Seriously people, like RRR says, get over it. It's been said a million times, but it rings true... if you don't like the stuff on WWE, DON'T WATCH IT!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't. Doesn't make their scummy business or creative moves any more palatable though. Here, either way you look at it, Eddie was a real person, and he is being treated no better than Katie F'N Vick, in that they feel they can toss his name and memory out there whenever they want.

    Stupidest/Worst/Most Offensive Smackdown (Special)

By his "friends," did you mean Rey? If so, like I said, this was more about Orton/UT than him. And with all due respect, I could see how it feels like Eddie is being treated no different from Big Show's "dad" or Al Wilson (i.e. just a character dying) too. While I'm here...re: HTQ: I see what you meant about the Kanyon thing. It is actually on par with the OTE selljobs in that no one is mentioned by name specifically. I guess I take the latter more seriously, as it cheapens the real emotions of the time.
  15. JMFabiano524

    Stupidest/Worst/Most Offensive Smackdown (Special)

He had Kanyon take that dive off the top of the cage at Slamboree at the same arena Owen died in just a year later. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aha. Sorry for that oversight. Still, was it proven that he did so when he knew perfectly well where he was? Or that it would so obviously be a reference to Owen dying? So technically his death may not have inspired this angle. Maybe more like wrong place, wrong time.

    Stupidest/Worst/Most Offensive Smackdown (Special)

Let me repeat my DVDVR comments here. I didn't watch this (and in fact hardly watch WWE at all for reasons seen here and more), but god, they waited *two weeks* before using Eddie as a template for bad storylines? At least they waited two years after Over The Edge before they spoofed it with that mess with Chyna at Royal Rumble '01 (which led to a long series of OTE selljobs by announcers whenever an "OMIGOD this is REAL LIFE" injury angle happens...from Rock being crushed in the ambulance all the way to Stacy barely taking a chairshot). That doesn't even count 2000, when in a morbid coincidence, The Rock asked HART TRAINEE Chris Benoit if he'd attack him from the rafters (which is stretching, HOPEFULLY Rock has some integrity and meant no malice by the faux pas). Geez, at least Vince Russo never used real-life deaths in any of his work, no matter how bad it got. Actually, more and more I am making peace with my quibbles about his "Crash TV" the more I hear about what goes on in WWE now. And from what I've read, this has nothing to do with Rey, it's just to get heat on Orton/UT. So yeah, wow. Just wow. Somehow I knew that after the mourning was over, Eddie's death would mean nothing to these people. Just brush themselves off, go on their usual lowlife ways. THIS is what Phil Mushnick had a point about. Not everyone will fess up on this one, though, mostly due to the "HE HATEZ RASSLIN! MUSHDICK MUST DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111oneoneone11111!!!!!" thing.

    Santa's Slay...

Question: What did every '90s sitcom fan want to see? If you don't know the answer, watch the opening scene of this movie.

Favourite story from a Wrestlers book?

I like the story that builds up to this one, where Andre refuses to button his shirt an earlier time, and tells the waiter, "If I cannot show you my chest, I will show you my ass." And then he proceeds to moon the entire restaurant.

    Road Warriors promo

Just did some random searching online, and one message board had a thread about the Road Warriors "singing" in their AWA music video (which can be seen on the current DVD of course). So...eventually someone says the following: Was this a serious recollection? If so, is there anyone here who can elaborate on this promo (i.e. when, for which fed, more details, etc.)

JLU Season 3 starts September 17th

Nothing yet about the Black Manta/Devil Ray (I must resist from misnaming him "Devil Fish," thus inspiring thoughts of the MSTed movie) controversy??? Wow... Anyway as I understand it, for some reason Aquaman and his supporting cast are now not allowed either, ala the Bat-Embargo caused by The Crapm...I mean, The Batman. Hence Manta's name change. If anyone knows why there's an Aqua-Embargo too, I'd love to know. (Comic people? The fact that Arthur's gonna be portrayed on Smallville?) Come to think of it, does a comprehensive list of who is and isn't allowed on JLU, and why/why not, available anywhere? Second, if all they have to do is change the name of a character, what's to stop them from, say, bringing the Joker back...only making sure no one calls him "Joker" somehow? (It would be harder since we all know who he is, but they could just use nicknames and such when they address him)

    Andre the Giant

IIRC it was usually the elbow drop...which was in truth just Andre flopping down on someone armpit first. I used to call it the "Uhh Drop," because Andre would stand over the opponent, then yell "UHHHHHHH!" before dropping the elbow.

    The Corpse Bride

I'm not a blind Burton worshipper, but have taken interest in this film, if for no other reason, that it stars... AND...

    Family Guy Switched

Marge: How many times can you laugh at that cat getting hit by the moon? Bart: It's a _new_ episode. Lisa: Not exactly...they pieced it together from old shows, but itcseems new to the trusting eyes of impressionable youth. Bart: Really? Lisa: Ren and Stimpy do it all the time. Marge: Yes they do, and when was the last time you heard anyone talk about Ren and Stimpy? Not the only time, I know, but one that immediately came to mind <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On the episode where Homer got a foster son, and Bart a foster dad, they were watching a scene from a mock R&S...only it was a dead ringer for the actual show (I think John K. was given credit for the characters in the closing credits) Then there was the one with the animation Emmys clip...the nominations of which included a He-Man knockoff (eerily looking like Filmation's work)...and R&S (represented by a "episode not finished" (?) slide)

    Family Guy Switched

Well John K. (and many Spumco fanboys) have struck me as bitter old you-know-what's from time to time... As for me, John K. lost whatever respect I had left for him with the Spike R&S's. So you got your babies back from Nickelodeon finally, you're primed to make this big comeback, so what do you do??? Make R&S the Unambiguously Gay Duo! Suuuuuuuuuubtle. Actually as a whole, that show doesn't hold up (my tastes in television have changed a lot, though).... the 30-minute bathroom jokes don't cut it anymore. Rocko's Modern Life was better IMO. As for Kevin Smith, I won't judge his work (I actually like some of it), but can you count him as an authority on quality when he said that Episode III (Revenge of the NOOOOOOOOOO!) totally made up for the other two Star Wars prequels?!!? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another word on Spumco, if I may...they also do seem to me to be one of those uber-anti-mainstream types (I seek alternatives to network crap as much as the next person, but some of these people just take it too far), so of course they'll lash out against anything on the networks or major cable channels. Probably doesn't help that they've struck out a lot there...R&S/Nick we all know about (yes it was underhanded in places, and the Games Era episodes sucked...but really didn't part of it come about because of Kricfalusi refusing to get along with Nick?). Their ill-conceived comeback on TNN/Spike just lowered the bar. Meanwhile, stuff like Ripping Friends didn't exactly set the world on fire, now did it? And what happened to the new Mighty Mouse (which John K. was a part of) and CBS probably wouldn't make their assessment of the network world any better. Simpsons crew just want to protect their spot, like I said (didn't they lash out against Ren and Stimpy a lot when it was still hot, oddly enough? Anyway they are just like Undertaker...been around since 1990 and don't want to go away, and no one else will let them because it's a "legend"). Parker and Stone hate everyone, I guess. Kevin Smith I don't know. To lighten the subject, do we know any animators who DO respect Seth? And as for AmDad...I think I was one of the only ones who believed in that show from day one ;-)

    Family Guy Switched

If you don't like Stewie you don't have a soul. Or you're not as totally nuts as I am ;-) If FG was a wrestling match, would I be correct in saying you'd call it a spotfest? That much is true sometimes, but I tend to like spotfests and otherwise as long as they entertain me. As for Sounds like someone wants to protect their spot, huh? (Another wrestling link, people who don't want to pass the torch)
