AWA Wrestling back on the air
MillenniumMan831 replied to garfieldsnose's topic in General Wrestling
I never knew ol Nailz got a AWA Title match. Looks to be a heel/heel match w/ Kevin Kelly playing the face to Curt Hennig's heel. Just a dull, boring match . . . then again it is 5 minutes to 2am over here. -
No chance, zero out of ten chance.

That image of JR sitting there pouting is priceless.

Ah, it's down and triangle. I tried it and it works like a charm. Thanks. That said, I'll still keep the weapons out of the barbed wire matches.

Ultimate Warrior to make a return to the ring

FOR YEARS NOW... -
Wait until you try to pick up a weapon. In the words of Gorilla Monsoon, "Forget about it". But yeah, the game is tremendous.

I saw the 1st two fights of Dream 2 last night. Why exactly was Kin yellow-carded? To me, it didn't look like he stalled. If anything he was pressing the action as evidenced by his opponent's leg. I was watching w/ a friend so if the announcers explained it better, I missed it. I mean if Kin got yellow-carded, shouldn't Aoki have been given the same fate. He wasn't Captain Aggressive out there either. Bare in mind, this is all coming from a casual MMA fan.

Man, Remember That Bomb Ass Time On RAW

I loved how every time Maven wrestled, JR and King's memory of the 2002 Royal Rumble would slowly fade . . . Correct me if I'm wrong King, but I seem to remember a few years ago that Maven eliminated the Undertaker from a battle royal. It may have been from a tournament JR. -
From top to bottom, this may be the best 10-video block they have put out since starting this format. No must-skip vids this month, just some quality rasslin. EDIT - Checked out the IC Title Part XI video. One of the more entertaining episodes. Angle-heavy but still had a wrestling classic at the end of the ep. Here's the lineup for non-subscribers: Bret Hart vs Mountie - SuperStars (Angle alert) Bret Hart accepts 1991 WWF SuperStar of the Year Award (SuperStars) Interview w/ The Mountie (Challenge) Quick clip of Mountie winning the IC Title w/ a Roddy Piper run-in on the side IC Title - Mountie vs Roddy Piper (RR92) IC Title - Roddy Piper vs Mountie (SNME) Roddy Piper vs Shawn Michaels (March to WMVIII) IC Title - Roddy Piper vs Bret Hart (WMVIII) Clip from The Hitman's dvd of Roddy Piper talking about the WMVIII match According to Jack Scarpoochi, next month's IC Title episode will have Bret Hart in matches against The Model Rick Martel, Shawn Michaels, and The British Bulldog. Haven't had a chance to sit through the Hot Bed episode based about Canada but I skimmed through it enough to fetch a lineup: Women's Title - Lita vs Trish Stratus (Unforgiven 06) US Title - Lance Storm vs General Rection (Fall Brawl 2000) WWF Tag Titles - Quebecers vs Bret and Owen Hart (RR94, JIP) WWF Championship - Steel Cage - Bob Backlund vs Pat Patterson (9/24/79 MSG, JIP) IC Title - Edge vs Chris Jericho vs Batista (SummerSlam 04)

Time Warner just added the CW in HD so this will be a must-see episode. Other than landing WrestleMania in HD for free (whoops Time Warner), this will be my first WWE HD experience.

Poor guy just doesn't want his daughter's ass to catch skin cancer. What a man! -
I think the problem w/ a lot of the Battlebowls was that there was so damn many tag matches. Having there be 16 (like in 92) or 20 participants would be ideal for a Raw. 4-5 tag matches before a battle royal to crown a winner is much better than 11 tag matches like in 96.

We could have a drinking game where we'd take a shot every time he said "HOOOOOOO!" or "Tough guy!" Actually, didn't he do commentary for WWF in the early 90s? Maybe I'm just confusing him with Jim Neidhart or I'm just thinking of him being one of the panelists during the later years of PTW but I swore he did commentary for one of the syndicated shows for like a minute and a half. You can't do much worse than Admale though and Duggan isn't doing anything... I think you may be thinking of Neidhart there in the spring/summer of 1991. He was the 3rd wheel behind Monsoon/Heenan on Challenge. He tried, but he stunk.

Truthiness - Adamle was in the middle of a sentence, next thing you know there's dead air, and he's seen leaving the table. Tazz gets up looking confused but stays to let everyone know that Judgment Day is sponsored by Rambo before he leaves too.

I nominate Hacksaw Jim Duggan as the new voice of ECW.

I totally forgot about that 45 minute Hogan/Giant match.

Only 2 weeks between JD and ONS? Yikes. -
I finally got a chance to watch some of the videos. I guess I was expecting a classic between the Briscos and Steamboat/Youngblood but it was just alright. Probably really good for the time I suppose. The Grahams' match was clipped to hell but I think that's how it was originally taped and had Solie dubbed over it. Piper/Lawler was quite awful. They even kept the clip of Maryland's governor proclaiming Hulk Hogan as his favorite wrestler in 1994. The hijinx w/ the kid was terrible. They should have just had him cut that promo before the match and leave. Speaking of horrible, Piper's bagpipe players were embarassing to listen to. Did they even know what song they were supposed to be playing? Just sounded like disjointed noise. Where were the guys and gals from WrestleMania I? I saw JR's blurb about Flair/Rhodes. Nice touch to have him put over Sting when talking about Flair/Sting. I'm guessing they'll use footage of that interview for Flair's new dvd. Pure awesomeness seeing Rhodes get "Common Man" dubbed in for his Starrcade 1984 entrance.

I hope they remembered to censor WWF.
