    Barack Obama's Inauguration

I agree about the elimination of the prayers from these events. The "So help me, God" part can stay out of respect for Washington, though.
  4. are you kidding? the writing reeks of half-worn phrases, cliches, fill-in-the-blank insults that could be applied to almost anybody, and obscenities in the places where she couldn't think of anything to say. that's not well-spent effort, that's just word vomit. by comparison, kinetic tried to tell an individual story with his picks and make each one interesting. and he makes it look effortless. leena somehow manages to give the impression of simultaneously being sloppy and trying too hard. she loses. Her style makes her "one to watch in 2009"

    The 2008 MLB Offseason Thread

I'm not going to count people on the market in gauging the Brewers' starting lineup until they've actually been signed by the team.

    The 2008 MLB Offseason Thread

I was being a bit hyperbolic, but I really don't think Yovani Gallardo (who may have the delicate frame of Ben Sheets) makes up for losing numbers one and two. Jeff Suppan is completely shot at this point and doesn't count. Bush was great in that playoff game, but is still erratic at best. Manny Parra can't get past the 6th inning without giving up a half dozen runs.

The Rick Warren thing is really bad. "Black! White! Brown! Young! Old! Straight! People that fuck dogs and kids!" Rather than, at the very least, avoid the sect of people that deem it necessary for the federal government to discriminate based on scary differences, Obama chose to embrace one of the worst on the issue. It has been embarassing seeing so many Obama supporters give him a free pass because they like him, he's a Democrat, other assorted bullshit.

    The 2009 NFL Offseason

I like the Mike Nolan idea. He's done well before (Baltimore). Has worked with McCarthy before which could be a good thing (could also be bad if egos get in the way, McCarthy used to work for Nolan). And, he probably cant do any worse.

    The 2008 MLB Offseason Thread

You'd think they would have noticed the importance of a good bullpen after the last couple years. 2007's hopes and dreams went down the shitter courtesy of Derrick Turnbow & Friends, and last year required a miracle to finally make the playoffs after the bullpen did all they could to ruin it again. Maybe they just really love baseball and didn't want to risk missing some of the playoff games on television.

    Barack Obama's Inauguration

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0109/17089.html Evan Bayh isn't the worst after all.
  13. Venkmen - I nominated him, so that's a good reason to vote for him here. I don't think he's ever raised my ire. He seems to do well with the wrestling stuff, I guess. Just plain all-around good. Bigolsmitty - Easy pick for me. I hope he goes a long way in this tournament. I always enjoy our friendly banter in the CE folder. Harley Quinn - Incandenza doesn't post much anymore, I don't think. It is very important that we don't reward people's outside lives. Harley seems to really care about this stuff. And football, too, I think. Marney - Yeah, I fucking wept when I heard. Heaven may have needed a champion but it didn't need the champion of our hearts. Byron the Bulb - Another one of my personal favorites. Brooklyn Zoo - This was tough as I like both of these posters, or at least don't actively not like either of them. Bruiser Brody - Yeah, I nominated Slayer, and I really wish he would like me but he's had his turn. It's Brody's time now. Ortonsault - Consistently entertaining. Kinetic - One of the best 2 or 3 posters here. I sense he is no fan of my work, though. Oh well. Snuffbox - I like to think it was a good year for me. Matt Young - Always entertains, even if, sometimes, it hurts him inside. Canadian Chris - I am not familiar with the other fellow. Use Your Illusion - A good friend from way back. Bored - I like Bored's sporting enthusiam. And I don't know the other guy. And I don't like Star Trek or whatever. Edwin MacPhisto - Never has a bad post. Not that agree with them all, I don't, but they're always worth reading. Andrew TS - Wasn't too sure here but I think I like Andrew TS more. And I like to pick the underdog when I'm not sure one way or the other. KOAB - He could win this whole thing. Smartly Pretty - Not sure/underdog. Bob Barron - He's one of the pillars of our TSM community. The Max - Absolutely no knowledge of either poster. Kamala - I'm not going to let my sadness over Kamala's earliar statement/vote against me cloud my opinion of him as a poster. Pbone - He's a good kid. Al Keiper - Very easy. I'm already a big fan of his Heavyweights series. Agent of Oblivion - I think he'll meet KOAB in the finals. Kotz - I'll never forget how he didn't forget about Katrina. Canadian Guitarist - I'm pretty sure Im a fan of him. Treble - I struggle to vote for Patriots fans, of which I believe KingPK is one (this was a shitty sentence). treble could be, too, for all I know. But I don't. Black Lushus - I dont know the other guy. Milky - Easy. 909 - How many times did lovecraft apologize for starting the 2008 election thread? Fucking Christ. Besides, I like 909 far more often than not. VX - I hope you do well! Lord of the Curry - I enjoy his posts about mma when I read them. And he agreed with me about Lisa Hannigan, but I forget the context.

    Barack Obama's Inauguration

I would have liked to have seen a qualified nominee that came complete with a sense of integrity, an ingredient missing from the gentlemen you mentioned. Perhaps none exist in the intelligence world, I really don't know. But, this seems like trying to fit an important component into the wrong machine.

    Barack Obama's Inauguration

I'm sorry that I noticed a wholly unqualified guy being nominated to a fairly important post. But, hey, intelligence has been a smooth ship for a good while now so this can't possibly be a bad thing. Plus, he knows Washington.

Yet he managed to beat Walter Mondale. There's a lesson here: In Minnesota, you can only toe the party line so much. Unless youre the worst politician ever, then they name a big fucking dome after you.
