Lewis & Vitali should just consider how much fucking cash they'd make and fight a rematch...it could redeem heavyweight boxing.

Time to lose another prediction, missingear.

Holyfield demolished the out-of-his-league Bates in two rounds. Evander did take a few good shots in the second, but, for what it's worth, had his most impressive performance this millenium. Sadly, this fight will only be the prelude of the legendary Holyfield making a brand new Trevor Berbick out of someone. Can you imagine if you had been told in 1997 (fresh off two wins against Tyson, crushing of Moorer) that Evander would be fighting on Fox Sports Net?

Can-Am Connection vs. Orton/Muraco made a pretty good opener for WM3. Orton and Muraco were still over as heels and had been at/near the main event for almost a decade, Martel was a recent AWA champ (which might have been of little consequence with the tv audience, but the Michigan crowd saw the importance), and Zenk was another young prettyboy face. A nice little 6 or 7 minute match to set the tone for an epic show.

I'll never get the "Czech = indie kid" thing. I thought I was a prog dork. Oh well, all white people look alike anyway. It's kinda like the 'snuffbox loves jambands' stuff.

Yo La Tengo is from Jersey, I think. Elliott Smith was born elswhere but lived in Portland...the same goes for Stephen Malkmus, and he's still there.

Rockers vs. Twin Towers (WM5) and Haku/Barbarian (WM7).

It's just a terribly naive and stupid list. The midwest has a pretty good underground hiphop scene (Minneapolis especially) that has produced superior records to several listed herein...but, of course, none of those have been featured on MTV/etc. And, if you're only going to list mainstream acts...there's someone from Chicago that is noticeably absent. Awful.

By Karl Freitag Promoter Bob Arum says the new Top Rank boxing series on the OLN Network will bring the future and the past of boxing to a whole new audience. Starting July 27, the series opens with middleweight contender Kelly Pavlik vs Bronco McKart plus jr middle Anthony Thompson in action at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, CT. The second live OLN card will be August 10 in Las Vegas with WBC 108lb champion Brian Viloria and middleweight bomber John Duddy. In addition to the live fights, OLN will present classic fights from the vast Top Rank library featuring Muhammad Ali, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, George Foreman, Oscar De La Hoya and many other stars. Arum said the first installment in the "Legends of Boxing" series will feature Muhhammad Ali vs Oscar Bonavena and the broadcasts will not only show the fights, but tell the story round the fights. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "There hasn't been regular boxing with rising stars on a continuous basis on television," said Arum. "ESPN has dropped the ball in my opinion, because they're all over the place, they pay very meager fights fees, there's no continuity. We're going to change that.....with the budget that we're working with from OLN, we'll have very, very competitive fights. A lot of champions are going to come out of this and I really think this is going to help bring about a renaissance in the sport of boxing." -fightnews McKart is definitly past his prime, but that should be a really good indicator of where powerpunching Kelly Pavlik is in his progression. Messenger Thompson is a decent looking prospect, his opponent, Matthew Said is coming off a win over Johnathon Reid (33-3) and a draw with Antwun Echols this year. And, of course, Ali-Bonavena never ceases to entertain.

You've reached wildpegasus levels with this thread, stylesmark.... Let me guess the big comeback - "Your banned" or some movie catchphrase/Hot Topic t-shirt slogan, "You know how I know your gay?"
