Milwaukee tied a MLB record with five homeruns in the fifth inning vs. Cincy. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/base...s.ap/index.html

Byrd got gift decisions vs Oquendo and Golota...then fought boring fights with his friends McCline and Williamson. He had been fighting only once per year recently, in boring fights usually against his own buddies, and getting frequent terrible decisions in his favor. Hes been an embarassment for almost three years.

This stuff has been added...I like the NO Jazz tent. The Codetalkers feat. Col. Bruce Hampton World Party Brothers Past David Ford Be Your Own Pet : PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND :: We are deeply honored to welcome to this year's festival, direct from the heart of New Orleans, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. For three days and nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) this legendary American institution will recreate our beloved New Orleans with their glorious sounds and styles. Holding court in the Preservation Hall Tent the PHJB will present an array of uniquely New Orleans acts such as Bones, Clint Maedgen, Noise Parade, the New Orleans Bingo! Show, and Liquidrone. Celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Preservation Hall these musicians (many second generation descendents of the original members) carry on the traditions of the birthplace of Jazz.

2002 was ten years ago? Are you the poster that said Andre the Giant was closer to 4'10 than 7'4? I dont plan to buy the cd, probably wont see any of the shows on the tour, and dont particulary care about/for Tool anymore. But the 'Tool? Whom?' comments just get a chuckle out of me.

White was guilty as charged when some critics said he had a hero-worship thing going on with JFK. This attitude definitly had an impact on White's writing as his descriptions of Kennedy were some of the best pieces of political prose Ive ever read. Also, Nixon was not as testy with reporters at the time and thus White had better access to him in '60 then in '68 (though White presumabley had more time with Nixon in 1968 than the average writer). Both '60 and '68 were very dramatic campaigns/elections with intriguing storylines...albeit for different reasons. In my opinion, White's '68 book has a huge problem with his lack of understanding/empathy towards the youth/college/peace movement...this is exemplified by his use of the word 'youngsters' to basically discredit a large bloc of people in the pages leading up to his description of the Chicago riot. For better descriptions/analysis of the Chi riot see the American Melodrama book (with pretty good coverage by its Brittish authors) and Hunter S Thompson's '72 book (where he describes being assaulted in 1968 by the Daley Gestapo). I highly reccomend you read the 1960 book, Y2Jerk.

Yeah...the Kanye bashing here was pretty sad. At least a couple of us here had the sense to see where he was coming from, and have some empathy for who he was rightfully speaking out for. The NO Mayor debate will be aired on MSNBC tonight...and Chris Matthews will be interviewing Heckuvajob Brownie on Hardball, I think.

Best book on politics/campaigning/elections that Ive read thus far - Theodore H White's Making of the President, 1960. His 'Making Ofs' get progressively weaker after that. Hunter Thompson's '72 book is an almost equal work of brilliance...a look inside the campaign universe, some keen observations, and hilarious eviscerations of Nixon/Humphrey/Muskie.

But if we can get Bill Frist elected maybe he would name the president of Purdue Pharmacy as Sec of Health/Human Services...our new health care plan in America could be 'OxyContin for everybody!' And, on a side note, maybe we can finally make marijuana possesion an offense punishable by death.
-
How about a Brownback VP? We could have him and Bill Frist both...then we'll get something done around here.

"Why doesnt Neil Young just make songs like 'Heart of Gold' and 'My My Hey Hey'? This new stuff is dumb"

I wonder if this is the first time people have complained about Neil Young doing something 'different'...
