Once again the Derby lost me after an hour or so...but it sure is fun for that first hour. I caught the rest of the highlights later. Pretty impressive showing by Abreu.

Rios has 4 kos in his 6 wins, so maybe he has a little power...but I have no clue as to his style. Also, I thought Forrest's rematch with Mayorga could have gone the other way or been a draw...it wasnt nearly as decisive as the first fight, the stoppage. This should be a good look at whether Forrest can still compete at a world-class level. The fight will be at 154 as well, Vernon's first at that weight.

Rios has only had 7 pro fights since debuting last May. I don think anyone really knows who he is. he has fought a few guys with at least some experience so far though, so he might have some chance. Remember, those Mayorga fights were the only losses in Forrests career. He was the first guy to beat Mosely, and he did it twice. Im predicting Forrest by stoppage within 5, but it should be interesting on a few levels.

Damn, theres alot of misguided fuckers coming out of the woodwork tonight/this morning...

I think it was early 1987. The barber gimmick took on full steam after a six man tag team match with Beefcake/Valentine/Adonis (i think). Late in the match a groggy Beefcake was whipped into his own corner and Adonis, ever the fat retard (God bless him), thought he was the opponent and, never bothering to take his eyes off the audience, cut some of Beefcakes hair. This led to Wrestlemania 3 somehow where Beefcake left the Dream Team and interfered in the Piper-Adonis hair match. After Pipers sleeperhold win Beefcake shaved Adrians head and kept the gimmick for the next few years. At least, I think this is what happened. Im going by memory alone here, Ive been awake for at least 20 hours on self-prescribed painkillers, so I might just be hallucinating history again.

Any thoughts on how Vernon Foresst will look in his return fight? He's in there with a pretty soft touch but it will be interesting to see how he looks after being gone for so long.

And despite all this...they still kept the camera on Hardy/Police/agents all the way up the ramp, and caught his final comments clearly on the live mic. They didnt drag him away off camera at any point, and they actually went backstage via the ramp. They kept the live mic on the whole time...they went up the ramp...the camera NEVER panned away. Dont be a 10 year old...its a work. Damn, this is funny.

I know it's a work, but at the same time I think Matt probably took a few liberties for himself when he got a few free shots at Edge. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know, guys like Stan Hansen, Vader, Steiners, Bulldogs, Valentine, Benoit etc would sometimes use 'stiff' punches and chops and the like. Its not all that uncommon in wrestling, and is only used to add a sense of 'realism' to the action.

Monday Night Raw has a slightly larger viewership than the matthardy.com message board... Do the fine folks there plan to pay Matt's rent and grocery bill? These people freaking out are reading like hillbilly marks that freak out at the matches, Im reading the entire thread over there now and its pretty fun. Can't people appreciate a good angle?

Im laughing at some of the marks at Hardy's messageboard...couple kids are turning on Matt for 'selling out'. This is the best 'shoot' angle Ive seen since Brian Pillman flashed his 9mm back in the day....

The new Garbage is damn good. Ill second the Sublime though.

Decent match and the key spot was Owen hitting an enziguiri on Shawn. Late in the match Shawn just collapsed to the mat and the last fifteen minutes of Raw was him being attended to by medics. Owen milked it for months and HBK came back as an inspirational hero and won the title at Mania 12. It was another classic worked shoot.

Not only will I actually plan to watch Raw next week...but Im even interested in SummerSlam now. The booking of tonights worked shoot angle totally cancelled out the Hassan bullshit of late.
