    Brewster kos Golota in 1

Technically that fight is a no-contest due to Tyson testing positive for drugs afterwards (though, iirc, it was marijuana which is definitly not enhancing anybody's boxing performance). Also, that was during a time when Golota looked horrible. In his last two fights Golota has lost razorclose (and imo won both) decisions to beltholders Ruiz and Byrd. Golota was a 2.5-1 favorite tonight. None of the 'experts' were giving Brewster any credit at all...and now he deserves it. He smoked Golota.

    Brewster kos Golota in 1

Iron Mike got kod by Danny Williams, who is about 100 notches below Golota and Wlad... Brewster vs. Tyson would be a hell of a fight, but Mike's time is way past....Brewster wins inside 6 rounds.

No falls yet... But we did have a guy get an icepick shoved in his skull outside a bar, that was strange... And the guy that shot someone, had a 15 hour standoff with police, then revealed he had been keeping his dead mom in the freezer for the last 4 1/2 years... Too many psychos in Wisconsin.

    Political or "conscious" hip-hop

Bruce Springsteen's new record is plenty deep. Bright Eyes has made several quality concious recordings. If one is retarded enough, the great 'protest' music of the 60's could simply/childly labeled as "Nixon suxors". When the majority of popular culture (the medium by which our generations are remembered) are voicing dissapproval against a polititian it DOES have depth. This is the rebellion against what alot of people feel is wrong. These artists are speaking what is on the minds of many people...the music is (often, but sometimes not) good...this is what our culture is saying, and in some cases it is deep. Unfortunately, most everything on mainstream radio lacks any real substance or honesty. It is a true embarrassment, not unlike some our American leaders.

My Bonnaroo ticket arrived today...should be a fun time, and I wont be alone and at risk of death/arrest this time. Hopefully. After seeing the Sasquatch festival (Pixies, Modest Mouse, Wilco, Arcade Fire, USE, Bloc Party) at the Gorge next Saturday I will have an 18 hour Greyhound layover in Fargo. Fortunately that same time will be a Modest Mouse show in Fargo. I will be seeing Medina Lake (ex-members of Blank Theory) with a local band that reminds me of Snot tonight at my local music club...the awesome/furnace-like Warehouse in La Crosse Wisc. Anybody here familiar with Gabby La La?

    What players do you

I can really do without Deion Sanders and Randy Moss...and 'hate' might be an appropriate label for Kobe Bryant, just because hes proven himself pathetic on so many levels. The Love List - Brett Favre, Arturo Gatti, and Erik Morales.

    Political or "conscious" hip-hop

1985. And yes he's mainstream. Oh and the GOAT. We all know the GOAT is in Milky's sig...not marilyn. Gift of Gab, Black Thought, Biggie, and Tupac are better than Eminem. Right now though, after Em, radio-rap goes way downhill.

    Political or "conscious" hip-hop

I think our current epoch of pop-gangstas (50's valium-paced cheesed out flow, Ja Rule, Mike Jones, the Game) will be remembered as as big a joke as teen pop and hair metal. There is plenty of intelligent hiphop right now though, just none of it hapens to be on mainstream radio...Th Roots, Blackalicious (and everything else from Quannum), Jurassic 5, De La Soul, Saul Williams...

    Worst song ever?

This is truth...yet she sells records like chaw tins at a rodeo. Further proof of why America re-elected the likes of George Bush. I find roughly 95% of the music on radio these days to be highly embarrassing. The percentage is only slightly lower for 'classic rock' formats that seem to play Elton John, Journey, Styx, and Rod Stewart on a constant loop.

    Manny Pacquio vs. Erik Morales

My band ended up not playing last Saturday due to a blizzard so I did get to see this fight. It lived up to my prediction of it being one of the best fights of this era...and I called it, Morales W12. It appears that Morales-Pacquiao 2 could be in September...

    Ozzfest Tour Dates

I think Judas Priest would out-cheese even the 3 Doors Downest of bands. I guess I was alluding more to the Linkin Parks and CrazyTowns of old. The shitty lineups of the past have staind the Ozzfest. If I can get a lawn ticket for 20$ or so....Ill go.

Lame. On the topic - I wonder how much correlation can be drawn between Edge's steroid use and his lengthy string of injuries.

    Ozzfest Tour Dates

I might go this year...its good to see they didnt add any lame radio bands to the mainstage this year. I really expected crossfade, godsmack, seether, 3 days down, or some other atrocity to be included. The chance to see Sabbath and Maiden is worth my 50$...but my summer plans are stacked thick right now, and goin to this will depend on prices and other plans. Lineups not as dissapointing as I assumed it would be though.

    Summer Concert Plans

I enjoyed the Bonnaroo weekend... Some really good sets, met some swell folk, nearly got arrested for hitchhiking in, got so sick I was puking in every other portapotty, and laughed at thousands of naive cheesy hippies. I think the lineup is better this year.

    Manny Pacquio vs. Erik Morales

This could be the single greatest fight of this generation. Unfortunately, I will have to miss it because my band is playing tommorrow night. Any talk of Erik Morales being 'over the hill' is complete bullshit. Anyone who says that should remember that most 'experts' were saying the same thing a couple years ago before Erik destroyed Guty Espadas in 2 rounds. The third fight with Barrerra was razor-thin...I had it scored a draw, the official final was MAB by a single point...Erik apparently suffered a horrific nose injury in the first round and to lose by a point to a true boxing legend does not make somebody 'over the hill'. The only mark against Pacquiao is that he has much less experience than Erik. Pac Man has extreme power in both hands, he's plenty quick, and couldn't be any more confidant. But Morales has an unquestionably durable chin and, therefore, Pacquaio will need more than just knockout desire to get a win. The fight will be a combination of gladiator powerpunching and heart...but it will also showcase the vastly underrated technical skills of both fighters. In my opinion, Morales's edge in experience and possible slight advantage in skill will be the trump card. I dont see either guy being knocked out...maybe it will end in a stoppage late, either way...but my prediction: Erik Morales W12 Its a real shame that the undercard doesnt look too promising...but if my band's plans fall apart(there is a blizzard here in Wisconsin today and tomorrow) then I will still be happy to plop down my 45$. Is anybody here ordering it? If I miss it I will be quite willing to buy a videotape.

    Milwaukee Brewers

The stigma of having lost so many all-star players since the late 80's still sticks strong with Wisconsin baseball fans. There has been a marked improvement over the last few years (and new hope with new ownership/management) but the feeling that 'hes good so he'll be gone soon' is still prevelant. If the Brewers can turn the corner and show that they care about success then they will see a noticeable spike in attendance. There is an audience that is eager to become rabid if management can prove that the goal is to return to being a winning franchise.

    TNA Against All Odds predictions

In an attempt to work some sort of 'old school NWA title match' Jarett will bleed alot in a cheesy-brawly match with Nash...and somehow JJ will squeak out a win. As soon as there is a TNA ppv with a chance of the main event being either a) JJ actually losing that title or b) working a compelling match...it might actually worth a few dollars to me.

    "Greatest Hits" Neil Young

Im going to guess that Neil had little to do with his. He has never seemed to be a big fan of 'greatest hits' cds..he seemed to be the one pushing hardest for the Buffalo Springfield box set, in lieu of a simple repackaging of 'Retrospective'. Hopefully though, Neil will tour on this cd. The man may well be the greatest live artist ever.
