The problem is that the US pledged during the breakup of the Soviet Union that they wouldn't extend NATO into the East Bloc and that they're are still treating Russia as if it were the Soviet Union and an ideologue enemy. There is no real reason to view Russia as a enemy moreso than a country like Georgia, which is also autocratic and corrupt in comparison to the west. After all the shit America has tried to pull on Russia (missle shield, NATO membership to half the Eastern bloc, dismissing their government as autocratic, supporting every anti-russian government/politican in the Eastern Bloc no matter how crazy and corrupt he is, etc.), it's not a surprise that Russia didn't establish itself as a bigger regional player earlier.

Guys like Kucinich who call for removing military bases around the world and drastically cutting the military budget should not be considered isolationists. American hegemony should certainly be a concern as it only enhances nuclear proliferation and threatens world peace. Propping brutal regimes are certainly one way to make enemies out of entire populations - but waging war and militarizing space could lead to some pretty frightening consequences.

I loved the fact that it ended with Baltar and Six with Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower playing in the final scene. A lot of people (my dad included) seemed to have a real issue with the religious subtext, which throughout the series seemed like a plot device. It didn't bother me as much, but it did reinforce the notion that polytheism should be rejected and that there is one true God with angels and all that. Pretty preachy for a sci-fi show.

I don't think the Skydome is really that bad. Its had its upgrades over the years.

A playoff birth could certainly rekindle the glory days. They had the most potential in 2006, but I think 2010 could be the next big run if guys like Snider, Lind, Cecil, etc. take off this year.

Opening Day at the Dome is always awesome and usually draws close to 50,000. Regular season numbers are respectable, despite the years of mediocrity.

Seems like Faraday was the only one that left on the submarine. Though you'd think Juliet would have known that it's not really 1974 outside the island and she could have returned to see her sister.

The co-star of the 2004 romantic comedy Chasing Liberty? I think not.
