  1. I almost posted earlier to wonder how Tyler was doing and would venture that he was probably hammered one way or another. I know I'd need to get ripped after such a campaign, win or lose.
  2. Man, to political junkies like myself and the Washington culture, a single day is a freakin' eternity. There's talk this may take a week. A WEEK? Why not just declare a winner in 2020.
  3. I'm going to go ahead and declare myself the winner in Montana.
  4. I doubt it's an act. They don't exactly hire people who would have to put one on.
  5. I always thought the tax out in California was really high as it was. They were going to increase it again? Keep in mind I'm speaking from spitting distance of Tobacco Road here, where a pack of, say, Camels is only $3.00. My friend just came back from San Diego about a month ago and they were closer to $5.00. The extent of this night's victory didn't hit me until the few minutes MSNBC took to show the various Republican incumbent losses, and the House majority looks pretty solid (in the neighborhood of 30 or more) whereas the Senate majority we're all waiting to hear about would be one guy at most. Also, the areas in which Democrats won are surprising to me. Indiana, Kentucky, KANSAS?!
  6. I haven't watched much of MSNBC's coverage at all tonight. The 10-11pm hour was on NBC, but their cable news channel is unwatchable for me. It's pretty much been CNN for their phat-up set and going over to Fox every now and then to see reactions to Democratic victories.
  7. We're probably going to get a "hilarious" segment involving scat on Raw next week now, to show people who might have tuned in that WWE provides quality entertainment.
  8. Oh shush, Gator boy. (Go Vols, even if the state went Republican)
  9. What was funny about that was that I didn't like the ad because it was another content-free character attack. I never considered it racist.
  10. Taking what you can get, huh. That bugged me going into these elections though, to be honest. CNN over the last few weeks has pretty much dropped the impartial face. It might be an outcome I like, but I'd still rather the reporting keep up the image. EDIT: Can you blame 'em, though? Fox is balancing them out nicely, if that's any consolation. Any good will Shepard Smith built during Katrina was pissed away around midnight when he went off on an anti-Democratic rant. I want to be at that political geek party, if only to hit on CNN's internet reporters.
  11. Yup. The Vice President doesn't cast a tiebreaking vote too often, but the potential for that is always made into a big deal.
  12. You couldn't just make it simple and let one guy or the other win by a good margin, could you.
  13. One never can tell. It's one of those nights where I'm the one who feels cornered by you guys. I guess I deserve it, though, what with my failure to be a big-government liberal. Oh come now, the 2002 and 2004 threads simply had it the other way around. 2002 more than 2004 though. I'm tempted to dig up those threads just to see how dumb I sounded back then.
  14. And Tennessee is out, according to CNN. Boo. Democrats have to sweep the remaining three. I'm confident about Montana, Missouri will be a narrow victory, and Virginia will be unknown until at least tomorrow. Man, we might not know who controls the Senate for a few days. I'd go to bed if Montana and Missouri weren't still up for grabs.
  15. http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/index.htm Edwin posted it earlier, but here's a re-post of the link to the Virginia elections site. 50% turnout there. Good for them.
  16. Oh yeah, forgot about that, as well as the 2001-2003 Congress. I saw 'em as a bunch of rubber-stampers in the 9/11 aftermath.
  17. When was Fox News formed? 1996 or so? Wouldn't this be the first time they've had to report on "one party" controlling at least one house? Whee, fun. CNN WHY DO YOU KNOW WHERE VOTES ARE IN MARYLAND BUT NOT THE OTHER PLACES These Senate races are killing me.
  18. "We'll win, the truth is on our side... You never make an exception to kill a human being, never..." (considers correlation of pro-life with pro-gun and pro-war sentiments) (head explodes, as an exception)
  19. I must have missed the day you were coronated the King of Moderation. It isn't being a moderate, it's being realistic. While I would adore a super-duper liberal paradise in the vein of the "People's Republic of Berkeley," practical considerations have to be made. If the Democrats are more concerned with getting back at Republicans than governing I'm going to be very upset, and I'm not completely confident that governing is going to be on the agenda.
  20. Speak of the devil, Maryland might not be Cardin's after all.
  21. I'm being too much of a wet blanket tonight. Let's hear it for Democrats at least taking the House!
  22. If only we knew where the votes had yet to be reported in Tennessee and Missouri.
  23. JerkSC: Man of the people. What an embarassment. I can't wait for him to start waving his big, brainy dick around now that his various condescending opinions have been marginally validated by a small majority in the House of Representatives. Yo 2GOLD: looks like more of the same, man.
  24. "LOSER" being stamped on a candidate's picture is something that every network should pick up from The Daily Show. Well, not really, but it's refreshing to see a lighter approach after hours of serious reporting.
