  1. goldengreek - cabbageboy is relatively harmless. He'll make a pretty stupid post here and there, but for the most part you don't really notice him, like Vern Gagne or Slapnuts, when they were around. I would feel bad about banning him, while goldengreek has been shitting this place up for years. His first evidence of douchebaggery was when he first posted his picture. The second was that awful Big Brother thread. And the third has been his behavior in the last thread and just generally this whole tournament. While I thought he'd be good to keep around for entertainment value, he's just proved to be really, really awful. No way. Banhammer.

Roho - At first I kind of agreed with Czech that he might not be so bad and, like cabbageboy, makes a stupid statement here and there but isn't overwhelmingly bad enough to warrant banning. The only time he's gone off the hook is when the TSM mob turned against him, and he's been REALLY bad thus far. Seeing as he's a previously banned poster and has probably deserved it, I don't see a reason to keep him around either. If it came down to these two guys though, I think he's at a point where salvation is possible. He's not utterly retarded like greek is, he posts with decent grammar and spelling and all that, and something could be made of him.

And by the way, Venk the nickname for him is Asian Tony RomO, not Roma. Tony Romo is the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, an American football team see, and I just started calling him that (not offensively or anything) because he is 1. A Dallas Cowboys fan, and 2. When he posted his picture in that thread in LSD, someone mentioned he looked like an Asian Tony Romo. I thought it was funny, so I stuck him with it.

  2. I've always been terrible with switching allegiances in basketball and baseball, much like the players. As a little kid, I really liked the Lakers being from L.A. and my dad's boss being a huge Laker fan and talking sports with me (my dad is a tremendous engineering/sci-fi dork and hated sports so I always got my fix from other people).. so that kind of stuck with me but in 2000-2002, I got ridiculously sick of the Lakers and Lakermania and assholes with little yellow flags on their cars on the freeway enough to where I considered myself a Blazers/Kings fan. For some reason when I left L.A. in 04, I kind of got attached to them again (thus my early fandom here on TSM) since I felt more a connection there than anywhere else.. of course moving here to Portland I then said fuck L.A. and am now 100% a Blazer fan.. and I'll probably stay that way as long as I feel a connection to the city and the team.

Now Green Bay I can't even talk about civil pride since I've never been to the upper Midwest in my whole life, but something about there strikes a chord with me- the beer, brats, and cheese culture, the obsessive fandom and pride, the concept of it being a community-owned team and one of the most incredible traditions in sports... I always liked that and constant television exposure in the 90's, especially since there was no NFL team in L.A., was pretty instrumental in that as well. The Rockies I just got into because they were my first little league team, and they were an expansion team and for some reason I wanted to move to Colorado when I was younger- also explains my Avalanche love, although now I just don't really care.

  3. Dandy, the fact that you obviously spent 20+ minutes trying to figure out a clever way to insult me on a Saturday evening is quite embarassing. Even more embarassing is that I pretty much said everything you said in the last tournament thread. How about some originalty, fella? If you put more effort into coming up with new reasons why you think I suck, and not just rehash old, ill informed reasons, then maybe I wouldn't take you as a joke.

My bags are packed and I've got my ticket. I've boarded and now I'm just waiting for takeoff.

Fucking Roho, why can't you go out doing something good like Kanji Watanabe?

Because he's Korean, the third rate Asian behind the Japanese and Chinese.

HA! You're from fucking Oregon. Lots of prosperity there.

You're right, there is. Some of the top agricultural programs in the country, and also home to several tech firms including Intel as well as a huge sports culture here- which was how Nike was founded right here as well (and also home to Adidas' U.S. headquarters). We've also got the whole green technology thing going, and we're one of the country's top leaders in urban/regional planning and sustainability.

But the point is that all has nothing to do with my ethnicity nor was I born or raised here, you fucking douchenozzle.

Because he's Korean, the third rate Asian behind the Japanese and Chinese.

You'd rank Koreans above Indians? I hope not in terms of food or physical attractiveness.

I was more specifically referring to Asians as in the Far East, excluding anything west of the Himalayans. Although I could probably rank Koreans above Kazakhs and Uzbeks. But then again the Thai and Vietnamese do make superior food, so maybe Koreans are even further down the list than I gave them credit for.

  4. You like the Nets, The Saints, and Memphis. You're hardly one to question another person's sports allegiances.

In a sense it is if you consider how many titles those teams have won compared to Dallas, Florida, and Duke. Geographically speaking sure it's a little weird, but I don't think that makes too much of a difference.

And I don't really care what teams Cowboys Numbers roots for, and neither should you guys. I mean, what's the point? How does what he likes affect you? If there's not some dipshit Florida, Dallas, or Duke fan in him, there'll be another to step up and replace him elsewhere, and then you end up with guys like Roho. Is that what TSM really needs?

  5. This is true, snuffy. The biggest problem with Green Bay was that they never bother upgrading the defense when Favre finally had a running back in the 2000's- which made them always good enough to win the division and get a home game, but never win more than one or two playoff games. 2007 was like a perfect storm of all the things finally coming together- Favre being incredible, Grant being a hell of a find, and the defense destroying people left and right.

The lame duck interception in the worst of worse legend killing scenarios- you've got a home game at the Frozen Tundra, a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, over time and you've got first possession after the Giants just missed a kick in regulation, and you're the only 3-time MVP.. And then you throw a dipshit deep pass to no one in particular thinking you could do what you did in the Denver game and lose it. That's just why I keep condemning the guy- the past offseason's shenanigans were just the icing on the cake (and why I was happy to see him fail in New York so hard). That NFC Championship game was as heartbreaking a loss as 4th and 26 or The Catch II for me.

And maybe your memory is a bit fuzzy snuff, but as I recall, Sharpe wasn't very happy in Green Bay at the time and had nothing but bad things to say about his time there- which I remember pissed a lot of fans off who supported him, so who's to say if he hadn't broken his neck that he would've stuck around anyways?

  7. That's when you guys then had Brad Johnson, right? The following year? Crazy to think that of all the NFC Central quarterbacks circa 1997, between Favre, Johnson, Dilfer, Erik Kramer, and Scott Mitchell, Dilfer and Johnson would be the ones winning Super Bowls afterwards.

  8. Well, it was nice to be in the tournament again. Still looking forward to that first win. Take Czech's YMCA comment and apply it quite literally to PSU, actually- these guys, or at least certainly the bench, are just a bunch of rec league type players that are just bodies for fouls. PSU's way undersized and doesn't play defense. They have a couple really good guys who are leaving this year (Dominguez is one of them) but hopefully getting into the NCAA Tournament two years in a row will get some good players for the future.

  9. Dominguez was playing for University of Portland his first year or something, but has since transferred to PSU, as did a couple other guys on the Vikings squad. Phil Nelson was another of those guys, he came from U-Dub. He's also kind of an idiot meathead type.

  10. This might be the only time I can say this without lying, but my school is winning a game on a national stage right now. Awesome.

Also, I've played basketball with/against three of the guys on the PSU team. Phil Nelson and Mark Coston were both in my basketball class last year (I think I had a thread bitching about having two 6'7" guys here) and Jeremiah Dominguez, who's like my height. If he was a foot taller, he'd probably be an NBA level talent.
