The in-built Rumble isn't an issue. All games I've played always give you the option to turn the rumble function off.

I don't think the average gamer wants to have to stand up and flay his/her arms wildly to 'swing a sword' in-game. People don't play games to enhance their cardio. I'd love to, in five or so years, look back and eat my words, but I just cannot see it happening.

Turns out, Big Boss actually *is* being written back into the storyline. Also, the rumoured handle for this one is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

This is going to completely severe any serious third party support. Imagine playing any fighting game using THAT abomination. I hope Nintendo are prepared to crash and burn with this one. It's a huge disappointment, as I was quite looking forward to what Nintendo had up their sleeve. Even the though Mario 128 (or whatever it ends up being called) will be undoubtably customised to an interface such as this, nothing outside of Nintendo-specific games are going to want to even touch it. That's a pretty huge amount of kills, Tritec. I think the greatest I ever did was with Lu Meng (don't ask how, as I happen to be crap with him these days) on the mega-hard Nanman level of DW4. I think I hit about 2500 or so. Yuan is awesome, but I'm pretty biased towards Wei. Unlike Huang Zhong, Yuan's charge bow attack stuns at the end, meaning that, when you use it, it doesnt leave you wide open to be slaughtered by any nearby officers. Plus Yuan has about 600 times more personality than his older rival. He was pretty much unplayable in DW4 because of that bloody lock on feature. Now that it is gone though, he is quite capable of doing some serious damage in good hands. He needs to be built up a fair bit before he really starts to hit his stride though. Wait until you unlock Lu Bu's ultimate weapon. Just when you thought they couldn't make him anymore of an unbeatable frikken monster, they give him a weapon that practically renders him invulnerable on the battlefield. In fact, if you play as Lu Bu at Xia Pi and destroy all the main officers yourself, you get loads of praise from your comrades. Zhang Liao: 'With Lu Bu on our side we can't lose!' Amen, brother. UYI

As a massive DW fan, you should already have this. DW5 is what every other Dynasty Warriors game wished it was. In terms of difficulty, it really isnt that much tougher than DW4. However, there is 'Chaos' mode, which is for the hardcore. It's a pretty irritating mode in that Koei have not jacked up the difficulty as such, they've just ridiculously given you a colossal disadvantage. For example, say I'm Guan Yu playing Hu Lao Gate on Chaos. I'm built up quite well and can take on just about anyone. When Lu Bu charges out, he kills me in *one shot*. So forgetting about Chaos mode, this game is the shit. I can finally play as Xiahou Yuan without the stupid 'lock-on' detriment from DW4. ...yes, I like Yuan. UYI

The scans for the X-Box review of Shaolin Monks are pretty cool and make the game look quite promising. Versus mode looks worthless, however adventure mode and the add-on of MKII really make me want this thing badly. I'd definitely be up for an MKIII version of Shaolin Monks (you know what I mean) if it meant an arcade port of MK3. I frikken loved that game.

I think Mortal Kombat 4 might even be a little better than MK: Deception. I don't mean to say that as though MK4 is some horrendously bad game, because it isn't. I quite enjoyed it on the N64, despite some giving it bad reviews. Extras wise, though, Deception dwarfs it, yet is still much less enjoyable.

Does anyone else think that Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is a *far* better game than Mortal Kombat: Deception? I love DA and still play it to this day. However, I was so bitterly disappointed in Deception that it almost threw me off MK for good.

Apparently, some early reviews of Shaolin Monks have been quite positive. Controls are always an issue in one way or another with a Mortal Kombat game, so I am not surprised to hear they are not exactly top notch in this one either. There's no way in sweet hell I'll charge in blind, this is definitely a title to rent first.

Anya, is Shaolin Monks going to be decent? I'd like an educated MK-fan response on the matter, so I figure there is none too many better suited for the job than yourself. I haven't particularly seen that much of it, but MK always has a bizarre way of hooking just a little of my interest before a game is released. All MK spin-offs I've played have been totally abysmal, so I must say that I do not have very high expectations of this one. What's your call on this one?
