Has there been any attention nationally on Hines Ward being fined $15,000 over the last 2 games for "playing too rough"? The whole situation doesn't seem to make any sense. I don't think he's been flagged for anything in the 2 games and there hasn't been anything specific mentioned that he did wrong, just generally "being too rough". What happened to this league?

I know Steve Smith is easily leading the team in catches tonight, but there are times when it seems like Eli forgets he has receivers who aren't Plaxico Burress. I've completely lost count of how many times he's tried to find him tonight when there wasn't much of a chance at a catch.

I saw an article where they talked to some Dr. Pepper higher up and he said they're "putting it on ice" in case the album actually comes out. I guess they're actually going to have to go through with it now that they made the promise.

Oh God. Another episode in the BJ Upton Basepath Misadventures.

I know I'm really late on this, but on the Tony Romo "tuck rule" play yesterday I know that the way the rule is interpreted is technically correct and it's a pass, but doesn't the "pass" he makes there travel backwards making it a live ball?

I haven't seen the play at full speed since it happened, only the slow-mo replays about 8000 times, so I don't remember how it looked as it happened.. I think based on the slow motion it's pretty clear that it's the correct call, but I'm kind of surprised the ump would get that correct on the live action.

Man on second with no outs and 2 bunts is the play? Just let somebody try to hit the ball. Two groundouts can probably get you that run.

Clutch hit of the year by Torii Hunter. I don't have much of an interest in seeing either team advance, but I really like Torii and it's nice to see him pull through where the rest of the team has struggled with men on.

I know he homered twice earlier and the goal was to set up the double play, but I would never walk BJ Upton to face Carlos Pena with 2 men on.

I listened to this interview with Seth and he basically says EliteXC bribed him to not take Kimbo down and just try to stand up and punch with him. He got paid "in the six figure range" for the fight. He was still pretty confident that he would win the fight standing up with him. He also said his original plan was to try to use his push kicks, but it ended up being unnecessary. He's now trying to work it into a fight with Tito Ortiz. http://monsters.fm/pages/monsters_media.ht...article=4355604

He's actually backstage at a comedy gig he was doing there. I'm sure his house has a nicer setup than that.

The taunting call on Nate Washington was one of the stranger ones I've seen. The first angle they showed the play from showed a Jacksonville coach signaling incomplete on the sideline right in front of Washington (even though he pretty clearly caught it) and Washington got up and showed him the ball. If you call him I think you have to call the coach who's signaling no catch right at him.

Hour #5 coming up and there's only been 1 extra inning.

They were doing it both ways and it probably evened out in the end, but the referees in the Pittsburgh-Jacksonville game were ridiculous with the 15 yarders they were handing out. It was almost like they didn't realize how significant those calls can be. Talking to another player was 15 yards, celebrating a catch 15 yards, hitting the QB as he releases 15 yards. There were multiple times where big drives were kept alive on calls that don't get made 90% of the time.

Do Dallas fans often find themselves saying "Well that's just Tony being Tony"?

Ridiculous call in the Redskins-Eagles game just now. DeSean Jackson returned a punt for a TD, but there was a flag down. The refs take forever discussing it, then pick up the flag saying that there was a block in the back by #50 on the kicking team. Fox shows the replay and #50 of the kicking team clearly gets nailed in the back by #50 of the return team and a flag comes flying in right away. Not sure how they blow that call.

Willie Parker (who is inactive for today's game) told reporters that the plan for the Steelers offense today is to rely heavily on the no huddle formation. You're probably not supposed to mention that publicly before the game, especially when you're not playing.

I'm not sure if this was a well known piece of information, but I saw in a Pittsburgh newspaper today that somehow the Houston Astros have won more playoff games at Minute Maid Park (opened in 2000) than the Cubs have at Wrigley (opened in 1914). I knew things have been bad out there, but I didn't realize how bad it's been.

O.J. Simpson found guilty of all charges in Nevada

I'm not the biggest fan of George Bush's 8 years in office, but he can completely redeem himself in my book if as his last move in office he grants OJ a full pardon. What does he have to lose at this point? -
There was a moment earlier in the weigh-in where the lower towel wasn't quite in the correct position and it was pretty clear that she was still wearing underwear on the bottom. They could've easily just not paid so much attention to the bottom towel and made sure they covered her top. The extra towels in the back probably weren't that necessary either. They could have easily avoided that moment. I'm starting to feel like it was a set-up.
-
Oh yeah, I almost forgot I made this special screen capture of the weigh-in video.

I just saw that Shamrock weighed in at 206. I guess technically that makes him a heavyweight.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I finally figured out the reason why the Bengals signed Cedric Benson. They're taking on the Cowboys defense featuring Pacman Jones and Tank Johnson and this is the week Chris Henry will be eligible to return to the league. This will likely be the only chance to get all four on the field at the same time. Maybe the Bengals can hurry up and sign Travis Henry and run a 2 back set-up. Add in the Chad Johnson stuff and TO's comments coming out of last week and we have the most ridiculous circus event of the year. Too bad the game will be awful.
