    The NFL All-Time Draft.

My final selection... K Eddie "Money" Murray At his peak, he was connecting at 95%! He had 6 years with a minimum of 83.9% and was good 65% of the time in his career from 40-49 yards. Also made 49% of his kicks from 50+ yards and had 5 punts good for a 38.4 average!

    Gene Upshaw dead at 63

Whoever takes over, I'd like to see more given towards the retired players (esp. those still alive who played in the 50's/60's and even 70's).

    Gene Upshaw dead at 63

Wow... Also was unaware he was sick and sad to see him go (Although I didn't think much of him as the head of the NFLPA). "Gene learned he was sick just this past Sunday and he died with his family at his side."

SS Tim McDonald 6'2" and 215 lbs. made the Pro Bowl 6 times in his career. Had 40 INT and 1,063 tackles in his career. His peak was 1989 (7 INT and 155 Tackles) showing he'll gladly cream somebody as snatch the ball out of the air. Had 20 INT on some poor Phoenix defenses in only 80 games and then was a mainstay deep for San Francisco during their mid-90's run of dominance in the NFC (1993-1999). Very underrated player at the position and another guy who played on some top notch defenses.

It's funny you said that, because for all the hoopla around the QB situation, it really is about the offensive line and the running game. Hell, the Bears have had success in the past with serviceable QB play (Steve Walsh in 1994 was 8-3 with 10 TD vs. 8 INT, Jim Miller was 11-2 in 2001 with 13 TD vs. 10 INT, See Orton in 2005) but it's always been predicated on a stout defense and smashmouth run game. The Bears have a good enough "committee" for a 3rd down back in Peterson/Wolfe but they need Forte or Kevin Jones to step it up. It's not like they need to be running for 4.5 yards a carry or anything either, even a mundane 4 works. 2007 (Top 2 RB): 3.4 YPC 2006 (Top 2 RB): 4.1 YPC 2005 (Top 3 RB): 4.3/5.1/4.1 YPC The run game will be interesting to watch the next couple pre-season games. They did nothing this week but were solid the first week. Week 2 (Forte/AP/Wolfe): 15 carries for 33 yards (2.2) Week 1 (Forte/AP/Wolfe): 17 carries for 117 yards (6.9)

Those poor, poor Bears... Exhibit A: Kyle Orton career 12-6 record in 18 starts (Rex is 19-11 though) Exhibit B: Their regular seasons side by side. - 2006 Rex Grossman (13-3): Completed 54.6% of his passes and threw for 23 TD. Also threw 20 INT and had 8 fumbles. Had a 73.9 QB Rating. Rex was also 26 years old. - 2005 Kyle Orton (10-5): Completed 51.6% of his passes and threw for 9 TD. Also threw 13 INT and had 12 fumbles. Had a 59.7 QB Rating. Orton was only 23 years old. 2007: In 3 games, Kyle had 1 fewer TD (4 vs. 3) and 5 fewer INT (7 vs. 2) than 27 year old Rex Grossman did. Kyle had a 73.9 QB Rating in those 3 games. Fumble issues remain though as Kyle had 2 and Rex had 6. The only upside I can see in this situation 1: Kyle will only be 26 years old. 2: He played game manager well against Green Bay (8/14, 101, 1/0) and New Orleans (12/27, 190, 2/1). 3: The Bears scored quick under Orton (13, 13, and 24 points in the 1st half of his games)

Injury + Gold... I actually had never seen "how" she injured herself before but seeing it makes the eventual result even better.

And every time Warner loses the job, he whines and storms off to a new team. Yeah... Well, he struggled miserably in 2002 and loses his job to Marc Bulger. Sticks around as a backup in 2003 and is 32 years old so he knows he's getting up there in age. Hits the Giants in 2004 and plays fairly well but splits time with Eli and is basically told, "Thanks but no thanks." Shows up in Arizona in 2005 and again, plays fairly well while splitting time with Josh McCown. He's 35 years old and splits time now with Matt Leinart in 2006, then has a superb season stepping in for an injured Leinart last year. He'll be 37 years old and it seems like Kurt just can't win, whether it be age or the guy behind him. He comes in, does well, and gets sent back to the bench while the "young star" comes in and struggles/gets injured so Kurt has to go back in, do well, get benched, repeat and repeat.

I actually really like the commentary of Faulk/Sharpe just because they are talking more strategy within the game rather than general hype and stories.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

I've always though Weeb was overrated as a coach... 3 Championships and 1 SB Career 130-129-7 regular season record over 20 years. 4-1 in playoffs. He had 3 winning seasons out of 7 in the AFL and in his career, he only had 7 winning seasons (over .500). Tony Dungy 1 Championship and 1 SB Career 127-65-0 regular season record over 12 years (so far). 9-9 in playoffs. His lowest regular season record was 6-10 back in 1996. He also made it to the NFC Championship game in 1999 and AFC Championship game in 2003.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

ROLB Bill Bergey 5 Pro Bowls and 2 All Pro Teams. Had 27 career interceptions playing between Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Has good size at 6'4" and 243 lbs. with the ability to drop back into coverage and rush the quarterback equally well. Played under Paul Brown and Dick Vermeil. Was instrumental in the defenses of 1972 (Bengals ranked 5th), 1977 (Eagles ranked 7th), and 1978 (Eagles ranked 5th). At age 35 he played on the 1980 Eagles D that ranked 1st (222 points allowed) which also featured a cornerback named Herman Edwards. A good defense should have players who know what it takes to play on top notch defenses and that's what I've done in grabbing Lawrence and now Bergey. Both players were key parts of defenses that ranked in the top of their league and that kind of leadership should be invaluable.

LCB Rolland Lawrence Only made 1 Pro Bowl and 1 All Pro team, which is a travesty IMO. Had 9 INT in 1975 and followed that up with 6, 7, 6, and 6 INT while playing on the 1977 Atlanta Falcons team that allowed only 9.2 PPG. Also has good enough size at 5'10" and 179 lbs. with enough ball hawk skills to get his share of picks should teams try to attack him. Career ended at 29 and probably would be more well known if he played into his mid 30's.

Been watching the SMU QB Battle... http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...ll.40522e2.html "By next Monday, Jones said he'll have his choices narrowed down to two." Candidates - Justin Willis: 5'11" 197 lbs. Starter last year. - Bo Levi Mitchell: 6'1" 199 lbs. Freshman. - Logan Turner: 5'11" 180 lbs. Redshirt Freshman. - Braden Smith: 6'0" 191 lbs. Freshman. - Winston Gamson: 6'4" 214 lbs. Freshman. Curious to see if any of the freshmen can beat out Willis for the starting job.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

No idea if I'm up (or was up or whatever...) but I'll make my pick since it seems I've gotten jumped over. RB Neal Anderson 5'11" and 210 lbs. of solid running ability. Also played in the run n' shoot for 1 year in college and was capable of 1,000+ yards and a 4.4+ YPC at his peak. Also a good receiver capable of 40+ catches. Will tag team with Billy Sims for a vaunted rushing attack. Also made the pro bowl 4 times and made Pro Football Weekly's 1st team all-conference 3 times. Also was 2nd Team All-NFL in 1990.

    Broadway Brett beats retirement!

1994 - 582 PA. Edgar Bennett/Reggie Cobb combine for 1,202 yards (15 and 13 starts). 1995 - 570 PA. Edgar Bennett runs for 1,067 yards on 316 carries. 1999 - 595 PA. Dorsey Levens runs for 1,034 yards on 279 carries (14 starts). 2000 - 580 PA. Dorsey Levens/Ahman Green combine for 1,399 yards (5 and 11 starts). 2005 - 607 PA. Ahman Green/Samkon Gado combine for 807 yards (5 and 5 starts). 2006 - 613 PA. Ahman Green runs for 1,059 yards on 266 carries (14 starts). They did have some running threats but more often than not, they had a piss poor run blocking offensive line so Favre "carried" the Packers on his shoulders because there was no depth to the running backs and the offensive line was bad. Couple that with the play calling and of course the assumption becomes that the Packers had a poor running game for the majority of the time. Even in their 1996 Super Bowl run, Brett threw 543 passes. Edgar Bennett had 15 starts and a 4.0 YPC... only had 222 carries. Dorsey Levens only started 1 game but had a 4.7 YPC and 121 carries. 543 Passes vs. 343 Carries* (61% Passing) in 1996 despite having two running backs over 4.0 yards per carry. *Combo of Bennett/Levens. As for my "boy" Brady... 2001: 413 Passes vs. 287 Carries by Antowain Smith (1157 Yards) 2002: 601 Passes vs. 252 Carries by Antowain Smith (982 Yards) 2003: 527 Passes vs. 360 Carries* (1,280 Yards) *Combo of Antowain Smith & Kevin Faulk 2004: 474 Passes vs. 345 Carries by Corey Dillon (1,635 Yards) 2005: 530 Passes vs. 314 Carries* (1,123 Yards) *Combo of Corey Dillon, Patrick Pass, & Kevin Faulk 2006: 516 Passes vs. 374 Carries* (1,557 Yards) *Combo of Corey Dillon & Laurence Maroney 2007: 578 Passes vs. 332 Carries* (1,484 Yards) *Combo of Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris, & Kevin Faulk) Favre has had 5 seasons over 580 pass attempts. Brady has had only 1 season over that amount and last season in his record breaking year, he threw 578 passes total. Brady may pass a bit but nowhere near Brett's numbers (I'm not even including his other 550+ attempt years!) even with seasons where the Patriots had to rely on RB combinations due to injuries (Much like Brett). As for Peyton 1998: 575 1999: 533 2000: 571 2001: 547 2002: 591 2003: 566 2004: 497 2005: 453 2006: 557 2007: 515 Peyton has only had 1 season over 590 attempts and 2 other seasons over 570 attempts. Again, Brett has had 5 seasons over 580+ attempts. Peyton came close in his rookie year and third year but that's it. He hasn't even come within sniffing distance of 580+ attempts since 2002. Dan Marino only had 6 seasons over 560 attempts with 3 over 600 and one could argue he was in a similar boat as Brett in terms of the lack of a running game. You can make the argument that Brett had to carry that offense due to a poor running game but the fact is, he still played in an offense that greatly benefited his totals.
