    BATTLEGROUND COMMENTS!

I may be one of the few people that saw the finish to Silent vs. Z coming and I enjoyed it throughly. It was foreshadowed, subtley set-up and well hinted at, throughout the match. In fact, I've parroted on numerous occasions that people bumping off punches for nine counts might be a very effective tool for similar stipulation matches. You guys just took that to the extreme. Maybe I realized the finish because, quite frankly, I would have tried to lead to my final sequences the same way. Whether or not I could have done it, though... And I can't hold much fault in match build, up to the final sequence or the finish. I will however hold fault in the final sequences to the finish. A head drop -- a Finisher no less -- onto a chair should finish ANY match, no matter how much you've hinted that it won't, in my opinion. It killed some of the drama, and believablity you had set-up. Ring rust, internal storylines for each character, previous injuries, even the amount of time and pacing of the match. Well, pacing until you got to that final sequence, which seemed rushed. Maybe I should read it again, but I'd like to know how much time you felt elapsed, between the two major events. I honestly think -- and I know that this match was about breaking cliches, like a finisher onto the chair MUST win the match, and nobody can win off a punch -- that there was a better way to lead Zenon into his stupor for the finish to occur. I won't say it wasn't 'dramatic', or effective, but I wasn't down with it. Bah, and I completely see the logic on why you did it too. I know all too well about how hard it is to effectively write that intangible 'it' factor (heart/fighting spirit/will to win, whatever you may call it) because I attempted to base my character around it and I know there is a thin line to travel -- Danny's wonderfully written Ironman match beat mine out, when we had a similar plan and I'm glad it did, because I wrote maybe my best match at the time, or ever for that matter and his match had elements to it that I never even could've thought of, which helped me write my own character better -- but I digress. While some of those attacks on Mak should have obviously won him a fall, nothing was on the level of a weapon assisted finisher. But then, this is a different character, in a different situation. I really want to believe it wasn't bordering on going way over the top, and that's why it sucks that I dislike this. Oh well, thats just the way it is sometimes. I'll give it some time and maybe I'll like it more, if Z or you, bitch about me being overly critcal. I'll give another match the long winded Franchisable comments, in a while.

    SWF Battleground Card!

Interestingly enough, I'd have prefered the Bruins, because they were just itching for an ass kicking, with the shitty way they were playing. But the Leafs have been easy enough so far. Ugh, now to read this PPV and get caught up.

    SWF Battleground Card!

Dub Cee, because it allows Thoth to do things like what he just did. Eh, I just felt this name better described my attributes, as I am above average in all things. This means I'm not as conceited as Flesher, but have just enough cockiness to annoy the hell out of people. M. "Taking pot shots at Flesher, since the '02" Francis P.S. OAO Kill Bill Vol. 2 Thread...

How was the storytelling lacking? I'd like to know what elements you didn't like. The movie slowed down because telling the story was more important than the action. In fact, the switch to hand-to-hand signified to me, that everything was moving towards a more person level as the story progressed. Since, you know, she was getting closer to killing Bill. That's why the ending makes sense to me. It don't get much more personal than killing the father of your 4 year old daughter, after crossing Hanzsu's(sp?) and having him do a death march after the convoluted, but extremely cool looking, five point palm strike, that Bill's own master wouldn't even teach him. Revenge is a dish best served cold and all that.

OAO Kill Bill Vol. 2 Thread...

Wonderful movie that kept me entertained. The ending was well foreshadowed, not predictable as most people seem to think and much like the anime before the anime-esque fight in V1, the scenes with Pei Mei changed the fighting style, action and focus of the Elle Driver battle and really, the entire movie, to hand-to-hand. I loved how they hinted at blinding Elle, less subtley with Bill's comments about Pei Mei hating snotty, blond hair blue eyed Americans, the flash backs, etc. And more subtley with Budd's comments about leaving Beatrix blind and for dead in a coffin, which in essence is what Beatrix did to Elle. That was, as Rick James might say, cold-blooded. Budd as a character was sick and sadistic, but completely enjoyable. I felt sorry for his shitty job and was behind him in the convo with Bill ("That woman deserves her revenge and we deserve to die."). A great line that many have pointed out might be the reason Bill took his death the way he did. Only to find out he was the cruelest SOB around. Which just made Elle an even greater badass for what she did, while he dies. The conversations btw. Bill/Bea were great in drawing out emotion and rounding out the characters. I'm sure that after I see it as a whole movie, I'll like it even more.

Does Benoit have that Main Event rub?

Well, in this case Benoit has received an ME rub. Is he a definite Main Eventer? That, we don't know yet. I'd say that the RR win, making HHH to tap out at Wrestlemania and forcing HBK (who's whole character has been built around his resilience) to submit the next PPV, triple-threat or not for both, IS a Main Event rub. How can it not be. HBK tapped out to the goddamn sharpshooter, in Canada, in a match that Benoit supposed could not come out on top in, TWICE. Benoit's been put over. I'd like to see Benoit cut another promo, like his "And tap" one, although that was more about Trips. Let's face it, he's not a definite MEer until he cuts more money promos, and hopefully we'll see if he can do it. Benoit needs hot promos, like a druggie needs smack. Quickly and often.

Twas The Fight Before Xmas Predictions

Annie "Ichiban" Onita versus John "The Sinner" Duran versus Stryke versus Johnny Dangerous Duran. He should get the win and then go after whatever title he wants. Everyone goes through losing streaks and if they have skills they normally come back stronger from it. Here's hoping. Although Stryke showing up could make this very very close. "Judge Mental" William Hearford versus ??? Well, come on. I have a guess who the question mark man is... and I just don't know if he can take Judge. I guess he could, but that depends on motivation. It also depends on if I'm right and if Judge actually writes. I'll go ???, to block. Xstasy versus Wildchild versus Michael Craven versus Crowe versus Linchpin Should be... interesting. Between Craven, Crow and Muzz, I've got to back Muzz, as long as he reigns himself and doesn't get caught up in the word count, like the last multi-man, which Craven won. But honestly Crow and Craven have beaten Muzz before so it's not TOO out of the question. I'll be marking for the return of 'NAAAAAAAAAATUURALLLLLLL BOOOOOORN CHAAOOOOOOOOS!' But Muzz is the 'New Age Punisher'. I bet Dace at least gets that reference. Va'aiga versus Terrence "Janus" Bailey Interesting match. Janus will most likely pull this one out, since he's probably near done his match. It'll be overshadowned by the gore that is Dace Night, but I'm sure ity'll be of the quality expected of a Janus match. But Va'agia, as the heel, probably needs the win more to prolong the feud since he's been running scared from Janus, building up to the real rubber match, when there's so much hate that there ain't ANY more running. "The Franchise" Mak Francis versus the Hville Thugg In and out of Kayfaybe, I like putting myself in challenging stips that I shouldn't win, don't I. A damn Ironman against Danny, 2/3 falls with the guy who beat Fallout in 3/5. And now Thugg in a I Quit match. Well that's what I get for trying to build my character around being the cocky underdog. Now I have to try and actually back it up. Mak = Gettin' and Givin' a Major ass kickin' Dace Night versus Charlie "Grappler" Matthews Texas Deathmatch = fun. I'd love to write one of these or a LMS. Dace Night to retain. Sorry SS, but you will be in Dace's SWF version of D@mnation in a box. I really, really dig the standing ten count aspect to this match. Such a good story can be built around getting up during the count, and with the 3 count added on, there's a lot of chances to build suspense. By the end of the match, people should be getting like nine and ten counts off a single punch or elbow, not just bumping off them. If this doesn't happen, my great idea will go to waste. The Boston Strangler versus Erek Taylor Erek, because it seems like feuds always end with a happy ending. And I want a BAAAAD one. Just kidding. Strangler or Erek takes a bump that no real wrestler would take off the cage, sans Foley (maybe). It's because the SWF is taking HIAC... TOOOOOO THEEEEEEEEEE EXTREEEEEEEEEEEME (!) AND THE MAIN EVENT… "THE SUPERIOR ONE" TOM FLESHER VERSUS EJIRO FASAKI Eh, we'll see. I'd laugh if Tom uses one of the ideas he threw around in chat. Win or lose, I just wonder how that'd go over with the marker. I can see it now. They'd have the same reaction I did, I'm sure. The Mak: "..." The Mak: "..." The Mak: "You're a bastard."

    PROMO: "Footnote."

Good idea. Silent is left with nothing but the pain. He doesn't even have the hate anymore. It would be tradgic if he didn't try to kill, in the words of Chris Raynor, Edwin Mac-Fucking-Phisto. Color me impressed.

    12/5 SWF "Lockdown" HOLT Report

Well since this is officially the comments thread, it seems, I'll go down the line in some short winded Franchisable comments. And WC this 'HOLT Report' was an awesome idea since I haven't proclaimed just how great you are in a while. The opening promo was well written and told a good story. You finally want me to quit, well okay, I'll do it, but in the end I'll be better than you and go out with the fans chanting my name (win or lose)! That's a very good internal storyline for your HIAC match. On a seperate note, I'm also surprised at the positioning this promo got you on the pops list. Tapping out to a Bearhug is mean. At least it's an ARMTRAP~ Bearhug. I'd comment more in depth, but yeah... I have studying to do Wildchild promo was innovative, in that, he doesn't actually have to be at the arena to further a storyline, during the show. The live via phone aspect is fairly new to our group, and it might be a good idea for our fed as a group to do more promos via phone/satellite in the future. Dace and Grappler come together in a neat little co-write, *ahem* although I though those were illegal, I won't tell if you won't tell. But seriously, it should be no biggy as it gives Dace at least one option for an opponent at the PPV. I don't know what it is about Thugg's matches, but much like in Danny matches (who said he tried to somewhat copy Thugg's counting style) the count pauses make me buy nearfalls. Something about the spacing. Sorry, I would comment, but see above *Janus match* I'm bias, on my promo. And the ME was what I expected it to be, and it vaguely looked like some illegal fratenization was taking place. Hey and I'm in three segments in a row... no wonder I got the biggest pop.

    PROMO: Jibba Jabba

Cry me a riiiiiiiii-ver... the Return of a HERO coming back from a demoralizing defeat to Sacred at the biggest show of the year, should be an AUTOMATIC World title reign. *Cough* Ahem, The_Mak is bringing back the cocky faceness, Jir. You know you want it back. Everyone does. I guess this was a good promo and stuff, but I felt like spamming, more than making good comments. Oh, and if your sister likes Flesher, then she's damn sure got a poster of Mak Freakin' Francis taped to her ceiling, for the cold winter nights... along with some of mom's rice krispy treats.

    Lockdown Card! For October 8!

Whoops, knew I forgot to do something...
  19. If that's the case, we (as in Danny and his match writing ability) rule all.
  20. They say you should smell the roses, cause life passes to quickly. It never moves in slow motion. The flora and fauna on the side of the road wiz by, like they weren’t even there and you just have to wonder, just why do they ask you to smell the roses? Different colors signify different things… white is purity and red is lust, but what about yellow? As I show up at the door… I ask myself this question. Have I ever stopped and smelled the roses? *** The Gospel of Mackenzie, Book II For the Highest Ideal September 17, 1997 The car moves down the street, at above average pace. Probably in a rush to get somewhere, although, why is the elusive question. “I’ll be back from school in two weeks. Coach said we should see our families one last time because when we start two a days, he ‘legally owns our collective asses’.” “Nice—hey, weren’t you supposed to make a left there? We are still going home, right?” “Nah, we’re going somewhere else first.” The subject gets changed, quickly. “You should try out for Varsity this year.” “But I’ll just be Mak, the one who isn’t the state champ.” “So what?” The guy looks away from the road, glancing back and forth. “I’m not going to lie to you. You’re better than I was at your age.” “I know that…” He says with a smirk. “But, and this is a big but, you’re the laziest worker I’ve ever seen. Just because you’ve got talent doesn’t mean you can act superior.” “Yeah, right. Even if I pinned everybody on the team, which I probably could do and ‘worked my hardest’, they’d just compare me to you.” “You’re cocky right now, but somebody will always be there to knock you down a peg. There’s always somebody better than you, remember that.” The car stays quite as neither person has anything to say. “By the way, is it such a bad thing to be compared… you know what, never mind. When you get a little older we’ll have a match and see if you can hang. That’ll be the biggest match of your life.” He just shakes his head and scoffs, looking out the window. “I’m sure I’ll have bigger matches.” “Every match should be the biggest match of your life. And if it isn’t, then you’re not prepared to win.” The car turns once again, and now he has no clue where they are going. “SO where the HELL are we going?” “I have to go get my girl some roses, kid.” “You’re in the doghouse… HAH! You can’t be perfect all of the damn time.” “No I’m not perfect—and yes I’m in the doghouse… but I’ll tell you one thing, I won’t be for long.” The guy says with a smile. “See, let me give you a lesson on growing up and roses… if you want to show a girl just how much you care, give her some roses. Different colors mean different things. Now red is a little too cliché for me, personally—but if you want to surprise her, get her some yellow roses.” “Why yellow?” “Yellow means friendship and once she’s your friend, you’re bonded for life… …and then you can worry about getting into her pants.” *** Mak stands by the door, with a blank look, apparently forgetting how to knock. Marie Rodriguez’s face snaps him out of his stupor, as she leans forward looking at the small gift in his hand. She tilts her head somewhat and puts her index finger on the corner of her mouth. “A yellow rose, that’s different.” says Marie, looking at the flower in his hand quizzically. She smiles, and brings the rose to her nose, lightly sniffing, inhaling its fragrance. “Red roses are a dime a dozen, but yellow… they’re special. You don’t just give a girl a yellow rose to impress them.” “Really, what do they mean?” “Now that’s a secret.” *** The car continues towards it's destination. A brief pause at a stop sign, allows him to ask a question. “So are you going to try out? For Varsity." “Yeah, I’m getting ready for that match against you. I'll prove that I got what it takes." “Then we’ll do it, for the highest ideal.” “Sure, whatever.” He responds. “The highest ideal. Whatever that means…” “Good… …that’s good.” *** “You were spacing out there for a second.” “Huh?” he says, as they walk down the street. “I’m just… taking my time. You gotta’ stop and smell the roses.” “Yeah…” Marie questions quietly. “Do you… want to talk about it? The match…” “Not much to say. When I go out there, I can’t hold anything back. Sacred thinks he already has me beat, but I'll make it a show for the ages…” She looks at him funny as he smiles. “It’s the biggest match of my life and I want you to come…” Mak pauses for a second. “Will you be there?” “I’ll be there, cheering you on." “Good… …That’s good.”

    Genesis IV Foretellings!

After a care filled thought process, I have come to the conclusion that Judge/Tom is too close to call... originally I gave the nod to Flesher, but in the spirit of my tag partner, I'm not picking this match. I don't know why, but Kibagami's post on the match actually changed my mind. Odd.
