"Stray Cat Blues" is great, one of the best songs on Beggars Banquet. From that particular album, I'm not very big on "Parachute Woman," but even that isn't that bad. Just forgettable. "In Another Land" is good, as long as you can get past the dated vocal distortion. Can you deny that song's chorus? I've said it before, but Their Satanic Majesties Request is one of their best albums. Any album that features "Citadel," "2000 Man," "She's a Rainbow" and "2000 Light Years from Home" shouldn't be dismissed.

And I've no issue with the way the BSS s/t was mixed. It wasn't just that every instrument was turned to 10; there were too many fucking instruments to begin with. Sheer sonic overkill. Someone, during the recording process, should've said "hey, we don't need 18 guitar overdubs here."

"Squeeze Box" gets just as much classic rock radio airtime as "Won't Get Fooled Again" or "Pinball Wizard." At least it does around here.

If anything, the s/t needs less production, not more. There's just no subtlety at all. Which is sort of charming, but it doesn't make it conducive for repeat listens.

Never heard the Live at Leeds version. The studio recording is some of the worst faux psychadelia, though. "Squeeze Box" is on the opposite end of the spectrum from "Magic Bus," but it's still so annoyingly fucking stupid. A crime that they'd resort to such an asanine novelty.
