Considering QB Michael Vick's choice of targets, is this any different than what his stats would be anyway? (Finneran is good... the problem is that he only gets good numbers when Matt Schaub is QBing. Vick deosn't throw to him.)
-
It won't affect this season, so draft him no matter what. But, saying he doesn't mind sharing carries, that does. Don't let Jacobs steal GL carries, please. And Bush is rumored to get $55-60 over 6 years. So, nobody knows yet. And may I just say these salaries for the rookies are ridiculous. It's insane that Vernon Davis is the highest paid TE in the league. I think that Antonio Gates may make about as much. However, it's still a sad state of affairs when the new TE in the league is commanding as much as a guy who's been unquestionably the best TE over the last two years. The main positive out of this is that Vernon Davis can lord his contract over Kellen Winslow Jr.
-
Current rumor floating around is that the Saints and Reggie Bush are close to terms on a 6 year contract.
-
1. Reggie knew what he was getting into when he went in the draft. Hell, he almost went to Houston which has an even WORSE O-Line and has shown no inclination towards fixing it. 2. As far as the Saints' O-Line goes, it may not be pretty but it's better than what they could have ended up with. (And better than what a few other teams have) Losing LeCharles Bentley and gaining Jeff Faine at center turned out to be a positive move, as Bentley blew out his knee and will be out the whole year while Faine should at least see the field this year. Dumping LT Wayne Gandy and promoting Jon Stinchcomb to RT is the riskiest thing they've done in the offseason. They may end up pulling off a deal to bring in a veteran if Stitchcomb can't cut it. Moving Jammal Brown from RT to LT shouldn't hurt the line, although it helps Drew Brees at the expense of Bush (RT being primarily a run-blocker while LT pass-blocks on the QB's blindside). If Reggie and Brees can make it until next season, I forsee the Saints picking up several new linemen in the draft to replace RT Stinchcomb and possibly LG Montrae Holland 3. Most plans I've heard for the Saints backfield have both Bush and Deuce on the field at the same time, meaning Bush will likely be lined up as a slot-back. If so, it means he'll be less dependant on the line than Deuce, as he'll likely be getting tosses and passes rather than handoffs in the backfield.

Spring college football practices are starting...

I don't think it's just a rep... I think it's real and it's a symptom of being part of the Evangel HS program, as well as part of the Booty family. Despite Evangel's position as one of the biggest football factories in Louisiana, none of their players have had consistent success at the college level and have produced no stars at the pro level. (Brock Berlin was their biggest star at the college level and Josh Booty was the only one to make it into the pros, where he was a 3rd string QB before being cut by several teams.) Their tendency is to flame out in college, typically getting into arguments with their teammates and forcing bad plays. Brock Berlin tried forcing bad passes against Virginia Tech in 2003 and helped cost them the game and a shot at the national championship. Josh Booty ignored the coaches' called plays several times as LSU QB, leading to at least one embarassing loss to then-IA newcomer UAB. Abram Booty quit the LSU team in a huff then got into a brawl in the stands with someone who made a comment about his brother's lousy job at QB. John David's father, who was his coach as well, also had some temper problems. He got into a huff over some things and then decided to discourage any of his players from attending LSU, routing them to other major programs instead. In short, I think this kid's a train-wreck waiting to happen. -
Up to midseason of year 1 on my Campus Legend game. LSU is now 6-0, with the most recent win being a 54-7 asswhipping of then-#4 Florida. My team is now #1 in the polls, jumping USC despite them not losing a game. My Campus Legend, Fresman QB Ron Mexico, is now the leading contender for the Heisman. One of his top receivers, Senior WR Dwayne Bowe, is another top contender. (If he starts getting too close to Mexico, I'll bench his ass) I'm hoping that the upcoming midterm exam will be as easy as the practice ones from the tutor, as it should allow my QB to do more training and less studying in the near future.

One of the current rumors floating around is that Denver will trade whiny WR Ashley Leile to the Bears for whiny RB Thomas Jones. It would probably be best for all involved, as Jones will be the #2 RB behind Cedric Benson for Chicago, Leile is probably going to be the #3 WR behind Rod Smith and Javon Walker for Denver, and both teams could use an established player at the positions they'd be getting.

Heh... usually people say "Julia Roberts" instead. OK, Julia, how many movies were you in this year? *clop* *clop* *clop*

Don't put too much stock in those videos... Evangel players like Booty look good in practice but, when things don't go their way on the field, they go completely apeshit. See "Berlin, Brock", "Booty, Abram", and "Booty, Josh" for references. EDIT- On second glance, I see you mentioned "maturity issues". However, I'm not sure that covered the scope of the issues with Booty since Sanchez's issues are of public record. -
What, better than the courtroom episode with "OH NO, BEAR IS DRIVING!!! How can that be?!?"
-
In other news, Thomas Jones of the Bears strained his hamstring today while taking a physical, thus missing practice. I swear, someone's going to go out with a staph infection from a paper cut by the time this is over with.
-
In other news, LeCharles Bentley is officially out for the season with a knee injury after one practice with the Browns. At least it was *on the field* and not because he was trying to pop a wheelie on a motorcycle...

Remember when Bo Jackson was origionally drafted by the Bucs as the #1 pick but sat out a year? He then became a 7th round pick. Bush should think of this scenario because that could easily happen to him if he holds out. The difference is that Bo had a fallback position, which was playing baseball for the Royals, so he could afford to say "Fuck Tampa Bay" and come back in the league later as a part-time player.

I'm playing Campus Legend right now but I can only take so much in one sitting. I've got QB Ron Mexico, a 5-star recruit, starting at LSU with about an 88 overall rating. My current rotation of night events has been 2 study-nights, 1 social event, and 1 drill (pocket drill) for the first few weeks. My major is History, which I chose when I *thought* I'd be taking the tests instead of my player. Next time, I'll probably just give him "NCAA mascots" or "Underwater basketweaving" unless I see some HUGE benefits out of the class bonuses.

That trade exception is going to be passed around like Paris Hilton at a kegger...

Don't worry, they won't be there long once the season starts. Mizzou is one of those teams that people always think will reach "the next level" and never quite makes it. I guess it's residual goodwill leftover from the 5th Down game. -
Dunno, but Suplee looked like he dropped quite a bit of weight since I last saw him in a flick. They made a bunch of jokes about that in the Mallrats SE, when they had the cast reunion / Q&A session. He went from being a big fat fuck in Mallrats and American History X to looking somewhat normal.

Lord, I hope that doesn't happen... The Big South was strong enough last year with APO, Secret Agent, and myself all in the Top 5 of the final pre-bowl BCS poll. Adding in you, IggyMcFly, Spaceman Spiff, and Edwin McPhisto negatively impacts my schedule tremendously, despite Secret Agent ending up in the Big 12's new conference.
-
*Wonders who the SEC will be paired with, since the Big 12 is likely too big to help form the Big South conference this year*

The main justifications that can be given for ND's low ranking would be the schedule, which is *usually* one of the toughest in the country, as well as the "Sophmore Slump" that has been seen there under Davie and Whittingham. (Davie and Whittingham started off with their best years and went quickly downhill IIRC. Not sure if Davie ever had a GOOD year, but Ty went from a BCS bowl to getting ass-raped on a weekly basis on national TV.) -
Have you ever experienced deja vu? Have you ever experienced deja vu? Have you ever experienced deja vu? Have you ever experienced deja vu?
-
The Chiefs WOULD be the team to sign him to a long-term deal... Their D is the big sore-point, next to the age of some of their starting contributors on offense (Trent Green, Willie Roaf, etc.).

Seriously? "Porch Monkey" is a derogatory term that has been used on blacks. I'm surprised that wasnt seen as more taboo, since its actually an ethnic slur. Same as Smues, here. This movie was actually the first time I'd heard the term. The only time I'd heard the term before was on SNL in the early 80s. It was part of an Eddie Murphy skit on Weekend Update in which he says that the Emancipation Proclamation was never signed. He says that means any black person who's seen the broadcast can be taken home to be your slave, but that you need to say the code phrase first in order to see if they've seen it. The code phrase was "Hey, you black Alabama porch-monkey! Come with me, I'm your master!" Murphy says that if the black person has seen the broadcast, they'll come with you. If they get pissed off and yell "SAY WHAT?!?", he suggests giving them $100 and running your white buns off.

Until a few days ago, I was wondering why the Hornets didn't get more for him, throwing him in as a party favor in the Brown-Chandler trade with the Bulls. Now I realize why... it's impossible for most people to accept him because he has FredEx syndrome, in which a marginal-to-good player writes checks his ass can't cash and infuriates everyone around him.

JR Smith seems to be endearing himself to everyone in Denver already... He's comparing himself to Vince Carter, talking about bringing a title to Denver this spring, and trying to get a shoe deal for himself within 3 years. Hell of an ego for someone who's come straight out of high school and has spent most of the time since on the bench due to personality conflicts.
