  1. Texas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, North Dakota, and South Dakota all called for Bush. New York and Rhode Island called for Kerry.
  2. Kentucky race between Bunning and Montinwhatever is up to 50-50. If things keep up at this rate, Bunning will win with 51% by the time all the votes are in.
  3. Iowa and Wisconsin, from early reports, are trending Bush. The question is whether Bush's Florida lead holds up once Miami precincts report in.
  4. Oh God I hope so, no matter who it is. I don't think I could stand another month-long wait-n'-see period. Depends on how the states fall... If Kerry loses Pennsylvana, Ohio, Michigan, or Florida, he's in trouble. If Bush wins some combination of Florida, Ohio, Iowa, New Mexico, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, he wins.
  5. They're not supposed to. Pretty much, by calling the states they're saying "There's no way that X will lose this state". The networks calling Florida for Gore then taking it back in 2000 was unprescedented and ended up with the networks going before Congress in 2001 to explain themselves.
  6. You'll change the channel when he brings out his Texas redneck non-sequitors to describe how close the race is.
  7. *Wants to put security cameras into girls bathrooms in Oklahoma*
  8. Virginia and North Carolina called for Bush... Louisiana, Texas, and other Bush states will be closed within 30 minutes and should be quick calls for him.
  9. "And with 0% of the precincts reporting, we're calling this election. 100% for Sideshow Bob and 1% for Diamond Joe Quimby and, remember, there is a 1% margin of error." - Kent Brockman
  10. SC finally called for Bush. Still waiting for NC, MS, and other states.
  11. Exit polls still don't answer the question of "How many absentee ballots were there and what percentage of them are breaking for Bush?" Not saying that Kerry won't win New Jersey, but it should be closer than it seems to be so far.
  12. It depends on what precincts reported first, Rob... Jackson, MS, is about 80% black, as is the Delta.
  13. The only way that the EC should be changed is if someone wants to change the allocation of votes to follow the *Maine* and *Nebraska* methods and not the *Colorado* methods. Maine and Nebraska let each Congressional District count as an Electoral Vote then give the popular-vote winner in the state the two Senate Electoral Votes. Example- If Louisiana has 2 Dem districts and 5 Republican districts, 7 of the 9 votes would be split 5-2 in favor of the Republicans then the popular vote winner would pick up the two Senate votes. Considering that one of the Congressional district makes up most of the city of New Orleans, the Dems would still have a chance at the popular vote even if they don't win a majority of the Congressional Districts.
  14. Stranger's in the Whiny Bitch Folder indefinitely. That will last until the end of the election at the absolute least.
  15. Bored, If you want to replace Kotz, you can pull a Boise State and recycle my picks for Tennessee.
  16. Yep... it's only happened once in history, and that was in a four-man race. John Quincy Adams, the only child of a former president to become president himself before W did it, was second in the electoral vote but won when 4th-place finisher Henry Clay gave his support to him in exchange for the Secretary Of State post in the cabinet. Andrew Jackson, the top vote-getter, was pissed to say the least and came back to win strongly in the next election.
  17. 52% Bush, 47% Kerry, 1% Nader Electoral votes- 317 Bush 221 Kerry Florida, Iowa, and New Mexico will definitely go Bush. I have Hawaii and Wisconsin in Bush's column as well, although I'm less sure of that.
  18. The funny thing is that my cell phone was ALREADY on the Do Not Call list... I registered it and my (then) home phone number a year or two ago when the list first came about. Unfortunately, I erased the message from the Dumbass National Committee, so my proof is gone.
  19. When I woke up this morning, I found a message on my cell phone from an operative of the Democratic Party of Louisiana on my cell phone. Considering that my cell phone was unlisted, I was slightly pissed to say the least. Given that the jackass who called left his number so that I could call back, I called him, asked how he got the number, and he said it was on his contact list. I told him to take me off the list and, if I ever got a call from him again, I'd call Terry McAuffile's home number to complain and then gave him the number. If you want to know the number, check my sig. Don't ask how I got it.
  20. You seem like the type of guy who would make his own prescription drugs. It's harder than you might think. *tastes homemade Prozac* "Hrm... needs more ice cream." [/Homer J. Simpson]
  21. Closed, fo shizzle!
  22. That's bullshit. New York better not be one of them You'd think they wouldn't throw out an entire ballot because one race was a blowout. Let's just say that there's no standard way to handle this. There have been cases reported by election fraud researcher John Fund in which large piles of absentee ballots went uncounted because election officials said "Fuck it, I'm tired and going home" after counting the votes tallied in the voting booths and calling in their totals.
  23. Absentee ballots vary from state to state. Some states don't count them unless the election is within a small margin. Louisiana, AFAIK, counts absentee ballots immediately because the state Commissioner Of Elections is supposed to have them instead of the parish election boards like in Florida. The reason I know this is that the absentee ballots are always the first returns listed within the state and often contain votes for candidates that dropped out of the race a week or so prior to the election.
  24. By the time that East Baton Rouge Parish's votes are counted, I hope to be seeing triple and finishing off a bottle of Jim Bean.
  25. Wonderful indicator there... they've been right on only 1 out of the last 3 elections, including picking dead-last finisher Perot in 1992.
