    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I would have taken Villano VI and III, but good picks nonetheless.

The whole guitar thing was just a textbook example of a Russo swerve.

Broward's eight hours have passed, and it is now Naiwf's pick.

    Desert Island Draft, Comics Edition

Kick-Ass by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. This kind of goes along the lines of something that I currently/love enjoy, but this book is so brutally violent and funny I can't pass.

    Hard Justice 08 Thread

So I went to the PPV last night and here are my thoughts on the night. The arena was flat out empty. Sovereign Bank Arena holds about 7,000ish for hockey games, and I would say that the building had 2000 people in it at the most. I had floor tickets, which wound up sucking. It looked like the ring was about two feet off the ground, so you really couldn’t see anything. Everyone in the audience was just kind of standing and wandering around which made things worse. This was my second TNA event. I had been to a taping in Universal during August 2006. Security/production staff is way more relaxed there, and they have a lot of open space for general admission, which might have been a better idea with the lack of an audience in Trenton. Production wise, they had two big projector screens as part of the entrance. Unfortunately, no one had the idea to use them to show the live feed. There were literally parts of the show where you had no idea what was going on. The other thing that was frustrating was that they didn’t show a single backstage promo. I’d say the audience was lost for the most part. Creed/Petey was a decent opener. The crowd was really into it and pro-Petey, which is a shock since the net is really down on him. Lame ending with the run in finish. The women’s trio match was all kinds of awesome, and so was the 3D/Christian and Rhino brawl through the building. LAX/Beer Money was pretty hot too, and the crowd went nuts for Hernandez’s border toss of Homicide to the outside. Typical TNA wonky rules made it confusing during a few of the matches, like during the Tuxedo/Chain match and the Last Man Standing. Dutt/Lethal went on too long and a “Fire Russo” chant broke out. I was proud to get a “Carl Winslow” chant started on a few occasions. Styles/Angle was good, but felt like it went on too long. The cage match was all kinds of anticlimactic and the guitar ending pretty much killed the crowd. It was dead and everyone started walking out, silently. This was the worst ending to a show I attended. It really killed the crowd, and makes me wonder if they killed the market. After the show, Hector Guerrero was very friendly and took time to talk with fans. I got a picture and autograph with him.

    Many guys released

After seeing that, I just imagine people in all kinds of disguises persuading Vince to do stupid things.

    Many guys released

He was a development talent, he was on Smackdown for while with Idol Stevens as The Teacher's Pets. Wow. I barely even remember that.

    Many guys released

James Curtis was actually a regular employee? Sucks for Nunzio. I do see them calling back Big Daddy V at some point. It seems that his employment is cyclical.

For what its worth, I enjoy Delirious much more in Chikara than I do ROH.

To an extent. I appreciate it when its done right. I'm a sucker for marketing/media criticism.

Fascinating. Please elaborate. Yo I can't tell if this post was sarcastic or not so I guess I'll elaborate anyway. M.I.A's music is basically a textbook example of recuperation. It's nominally counter-cultural art that is, in reality, nothing more than a harmless participant in the very system--Western Capitalism--it's supposedly working against. You can't really claim to be trying to tear down the apparatuses of global capitalism when you're releasing records on Interscope and selling your music for commercial usage. It's "revolution" as mass market fashion statement, commoditized and sapped of anything truly rebellious or dangerous. Furthermore, I gotcha. Sounds kind of like Radiohead circa Kid A, talking up No Logo while making millions at Parlophone. I've never given much thought to M.I.A.'s position in the counterculture; I just like listening to "Paper Planes" and making thumb-and-pointer guns, is that so wrong? Czech gets +1 for the Naomi Klein reference.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

What....Torrie, Jericho, Acuna, Icarus and Chuckie are all friends in similar tights.... The "I'm with" comes from Marvel's Civil War crossover in 2006, where they started "I'm With Captain America" or "I'm With Iron Man" banners for fans to show whose side they were on. The "I'm With.." became a meme.

Torrie Wilson Not much with this one...just adding a valet. Possibly she'll be a member of F.I.S.T.

We Have Us An Iron Man

There was an article over on Yahoo where Downey said just that.
  20. MZ vs. Army was a fun read, especially how they actually used Dazzler in a fun way for the first time since the late 1980s and features a super well written Dr. Doom.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Joey Styles I'm drafting someone to do commentary, and Joey Styles fits the bill perfectly. He's great at calling the matches and getting the guys over. Plus, I don't need to waste another pick on a lead commentator. He'll get some help in the booth from Larry Sweeney and Ultramantis Black as well.

I'm assuming Matzo gets the next pick since Fartsauce has been MIA?

    ECW on Sci-Fi (8/5/2008)

This was an awful episode overall. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by Matt Striker's commentary.

    The Dark Knight

Well, Batman & Robin didn't do awful business either, but look what happened to that supposed sequel Batman:Triumphant, it never got made, or you could say it became Batman Begins, but that is a reboot starting the franchise over. That's the difference...B&R is regarded as just an awful joke of a film, where M3 will be remembered as just another dumb Mummy film.
