I'd say that Samael can fit into the whole doom/goth area, but closer to the doom side.

    Heavy Metal and subgenre description

Initially doom metal in the truest sense, it's hard to classify them now since they still do gloomy lyrics but to faster metal. And in the list of notable doom bands you forgot the "Big 3" UK doom bands, namely Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, and Anathema (pre-Judgement) That's kind of what I thought, but lately they've sounded more mainstream hard rock in a Sabbathy sense. I'm not too up on my Doom metal, but I like a lot of what I've heard.

I like these. Same here. I grew to like them, but I despised them for the longest time.

    Heavy Metal and subgenre description

I'll try to tackle the goth-metal description, since it isn't really given. I consider it to be related to doom metal as far as slow guitars and such, but mostly with clean vocals, using keyboards to build atmosphere, and themeatically about depression, alienation, and religous obesrving. This would be bands like Type O Negative, Theatre of Tragedy, Sundown, and the later Tiamat releases. There are also the girly-goth metal bands like the Gathering and Lacuna Coil. Where I get lost is when bands like ...And Oceans, the Passenger and the Kovenant, both of which kind of get labeled as either being black metal or goth metal. And what do you guys consider Sentenced to be?

Who's MVP in NBA at this point?

Nash. It's sick how much of a change he's had on the Suns when you compare them now to last year.

The current version of Blue Beetle was created by Steve Ditko. He semi-retired due to a heart problem.

    The Misfits!

I totally agree with you. One of the reasons why Misfits shirts are so prevalent with the high school is that the Fiend skull is fashionable for some reason. I read in some article/interview that the Misfits make more off of merch than touring/records. And in 2001, they had two original misfits...Jerry and Robo, who was a drummer for a while towards the end of their original run.

I wonder when the Knicks upper management are going to give on Isaiah...they've been letting him do whatever he wants.

    This week in the NBA

Well, Arroyo was being problematic for a bunch of reasons: • Sloan said that he wasn't showing up for practice or wanting to talk out their differences. • Got pissy when Sloan benched him for poor play • The Jazz were getting just as much out of Keith McLeod • Complained publicly...which is a huge no-no with the Jazz • You can only imagine what was going on in private, as the Jazz NEVER make quick moves like this with problem players. And it works out for the Jazz, since apparently they are going to waive Eldon. This leaves $$$ available to resign Raja Bell and Matt Harpring, or get adventurous and trade up to a better PG.

    This week in the NBA

Aside from AK's injury, there have been a string of minor ones for the jazz, and the influx of new players/people who were injured for the majority of last year haven't had time to gel as a team.

I'd say Emeka has it unless someone really steps up or he hurts himself.

Does TNA need a Mid-Card belt?

Most definitely. I think that TNA is actually worse than WWE as far as guys with nothing to do when on screen.

    Comic commercials on TV?!?

from newsarama.com -------------------------- MARVEL READIES TELEVISION COMMERCIAL FOR FF COMIC For the first time since the early ‘80s, there will soon be commercials for Marvel Comics on television. The program, which is small, and in its initial phases, will be part of the build-up to the Fantastic Four movie. As with the last time Marvel Comics appeared in television spots (GI Joe commercials, circa 1983) the new spot will be a hybrid toy/comic ad, featuring a Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four (the publisher's renamed all-ages "Marvel Age" line) comic as well as a Toy Biz toy. As Marvel’s Manager, Sales and Marketing David Gabriel told retailers via a recent interview in Diamond Dateline: “There will be a new Marvel Adventures title closely related to upcoming blockbuster Fantastic Four film, due in theaters next summer. This title will be aggressively targeted as part of a multi-million dollar ad campaign for ToyBiz, which will, for the first time, showcase the Marvel Adventures comics as part of a nationally televised 60-second commercial spot. Last time this happened the result was Marvel's hugely successful G.I. Joe comic.” While it is true that comic book distribution was more robust in the early ‘80s than it is now, only Marvel (and to a much smaller extent Malibu) ever really pursued television commercials as a means to reach potential customers. With this advertising campaign (albeit tied to a movie), Marvel becomes the second major US comic book publisher to try television in as many years – last May, Tokyopop debuted a series of commercials specifically for their graphic novels on a variety of cable channels viewed by its demographic. The ad featuring Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four is slated to begin in May, and will air nationwide. Marvel did not disclose specifics of which channels and cable outlets will run the ad, but told Newsarama that more information will be made available soon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think it's a good idea, but it seems that so much of the comic book reading market isn't the youngsters who would be reading the Marvel Adventures line. I don't know on this one....

    NEW AVENGERS #1 SELLS OUT

I think they just assumed Brock was dead, but this being unconfirmed and done at Marvel leads one to see him back for Easter.

    New Jack signed by WWE

If indeed New Jack is on his way in, its certainly going to make for the backstage stories of legend. I really could see him getting way over and the WWE having no clue what to do.
