First thoughts: Predetermination would kill what this fed is. Sorry, I'm all cool with the OAOAST, but it would really just kill what everything this place was or is. I think that, in all honesty, this would only decrease participation as people wouldn't be required to do anything. The whole lack of participation really started back when "Oh, I don't need to show because this guy is gonna include all the storyline stuff in his match". I don't think making that the chosen system will help us anymore. The thing I always loved was when some kid gave it his all and beat someone completely out of nowhere. I also think that we've had our own problems with politics in the past, and I think that a predetermined style will only increase calls of 'politics'. We need something at least, idealogically based on something that isn't based on anything other than skill. I think matches are the best way for this. It was nailed up there in Manson's post: We've dried up the TSM pool. We should stay here, but we seriously need to develop another presence on another board so we can start drawing in more and more people again. Another thing is, and I hope that I'll be a bit more active, is maybe CC taking the initiative and just pushing people into feuds or at least giving them a storyline to run with for a little bit.

Avenue Q = Addictive and catchy.

TKE! TKE! TKE! TKE! But seriously, looks like a fun card. We all need a joke one every now and then so we can get away from all the dark, grey bullshit and have some plain fun.

Perhaps if you learned to write in proper English, you'd have a point. Sadly, it seems you are incapable of even that.

Mine is bigger.

Probably not. I formed a WORKING heel stable, remember? Magnificent 7, JL branch?

Openly praised by...? Seriously, honestly don't put him in any sort of regard when it comes to International Relations. He appeals some people, yes, but I hardly think that he's a 'highly regarded International Relations' person. Again, I'll give him gracious credit for his work in linguistics, but I have yet to read anything by him that is at all decent when it comes to International Relations. He's hardly 'objective' ('Pompous and arrogant' is more like it); his own opinon colors his view WAY too much to call him anything close to 'objective'. Why is he accepted in places other than America? Because his view is pretty attractive to people who don't like America for being America. I'm not saying he's a tool of terrorists or something like that, but if you have an irrational hatred of America, Noam's commentary does look pretty attractive, no matter his credentials. He might be one of the top 5 sources in the world, but again, for what? Linguistics, or IR? You are falling into the trap of "He's reknown for this, so it must carry over!" I honestly doubt that even 5% of those are for anything involving world politics.

I would hardly say he's in high regard. I'd more say he's very niche when talking about anything other than linguistics. I don't think he's poisoning small children (OMG BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT BUSH IS DOING IN IRAQ~!@#!@!$@# ), but he hardly qualifies as an excellent source. He's too full into his own opinion that he doesn't make considerations for anything else, which is why he's so God-damn out there to us all. And your point here is...?

Naw. S'alright, I've just been through a lot of intense debate on this in one of my classes and most people just don't know how that system can be abused.
-
The problem with that is you get things like "The Rhino Party", which are nonsense parties that get votes and power. Plus, like Israel, it gives too much power to one person because one person can breakaway from the party, take some seats for his own, and get a disproportionate amount of power out of it all. Frankly, I think our own system is fine as is. :-\

Edit: Nevermind. The Shiites haven't named anyone yet.

Again, I'd put money on you not fully reading anything he's written. Prove me wrong. Noam Chomsky is an uneducated dolt? The guy fucking teaches at one of the most revered technical institutions in the world. But I mean, if you say he knows nothing I guess you're right. Just because you are a mathamatician doesn't mean you are necessarily literate in the Ancient History of Mesapotamia. Linguistics doesn't seem to have much crossover value into International Relations and Politics, so one could very well argue that he is fairly misinformed or such in that area. I mean, just look at the Colorado topic if you need proof that just because you can teach doesn't mean you are intelligent. Says the man who reads commondreams.org...

Because of King, I have mod powers now.

I'd go for Teacher's Unions too if the Detroit Teacher's Union actuall, well, did something useful besides trying to become a vote mongering machine.

You rock. Question: Can I call you Rob E. the Robot?

Weren't they maced, and because of the self-defense classes they had taken hadn't they already made examples of a few people? They had no idea what was going to happen. First off, no way in hell is he going to fire a gun or risk a hostages life. I'll tell you that right now. I honestly don't think he would have done that. Secondly, I just realized how fucking STUPID this topic is. NoCal bitches about having no Air Marshalls on these flights, but there was no information regarding any specifics for flights. Thousands upon thousands of flights take off every day in America: We aren't like Israel where our national flight carrier can have two Sky Marshalls on every plane. It simply isn't feasible. This entire line of thought that has sprung up is entirely inane.

No offense, but did you actually read what the hell you wrote? You were imply exactly that. Sorry, I worked at Mickey D's for two years. I would NEVER want a union for that place. I wouldn't DESERVE getting paid the obscene amount that Brian just named off, which is what I'm certain would happen. And, as a note, they don't treat you like cattle at every store. It is completely up to what type of manager you have. I've had a few good ones and one bad one, and the good ones never abused me or any of that crap. You guys assume WAY WAY too much when it comes down to middle management and such.

They were armed with box cutters. An armed air marshall would shoot them dead. Game, Set, Match. With multiple targets in a small metal tube crowded with people? Even if the bullet didn't depressurize the cabin, there are too many hostages, targets, and other variables that would have made the point moot.

Wow, what a way to make a return to the board. And Lord knows Noam is such so credible when it comes to international policy.
-
Funniest. Post. EVER.

Yeah, cause employees should just bend over and let companies plow their tender regions and be thankful for the privledge. No, because it's Wal-mart. It's just like people with McDonald's: From a guy who has worked there, you shouldn't be getting something like $12 an hour or whatever a Union would try to bust it up to.
-
What a bunch of leftist poppycock. Arafat was a subhuman piece of shit terrorist. I'm glad he's dead. The world should be glad he's dead. The only acknowledgement Dr. Rice should have given his grave was as a nice place to drop a deuce. No it's not. It's a compliment, you just have to read it the right way.

Considering I actually have, well, TIME now, sure.

Hmm... why does this sound so damn familiar... Again, you avoid the question: What does the military have to gain by killing innocent civilians, and isn't just as possible that it could have been a combat mistake? You act as though it would be IMPOSSIBLE for Saddam to EVER use a civilian building for a firebase, and Lord knows the insurgency has demonstrated that enough.
