I guess you missed their hounding of Clinton. And the same one that hounded Cheney to release the documents surrounding his special Energy Task force, remember?
-
*Laughs* And low-end military service isn't important when you are dealing with a strategic command rather than a tactical command. If anything, Bush and Kerry's service are almost exactly the same when it comes down to presidential qualifications: Nil. Bush's service didn't define him, and Kerry's actions AFTER the war define him more than those during. Actually, those are fairly accurate of what his positions were. Seriously, even if you are his biggest fan, you have to admit that he's completely driven by public and democratic opinion when it comes to Iraq.

The funniest thing is that they bitch about the "If your against us, you're helping the terrorist" stuff that apparently goes on so much, yet they'll pull this sort of thing. o.0

HA. I wouldn't count on it. You're putting way too much faith in your fellow Americans. Ha! You put too much faith in your own personal superiority... I just want to see him captured so all the people on this board who thought the best thing for the War on Terror was to concentrate on him suddenly say "Well... He wasn't the REAL problem..." It takes a stronger man to live with the consequences of his actions than to end everything in an instant.

You guys always keep saying this, but never get the slightest bit suspicious about it. Even when it's happened again (Horton I) and again (McCain) and again (SwiftVets.) No, I understand both sides are throwing tons of dirt and concealing it through 527s. The Dems more than the Reps, but they have to work with what they got, so there's some understanding for it. The problem is, I don't see the Swiftboat ads as incredibly offensive: The ads (not the book) do call into question what he did AFTER he got out of Vietnam, which is perfectly fair game, especially when you consider what he did. He should be called out on what he did after the war especially when he's parading around a 4-month tour of duty as the basis for about half his platform. Kerry chose poorly and tried to deflect the stuff onto Bush, and Bush jujitsued him, plain and simple. Kerry doesn't know how the hell to run a campaign, just like Dukakis, and he's getting hurt more and more by it. I recognize that Bush's motivation definitely has political reasons, but understand that so does Kerry's, and if he had been smart he would have simply addressed the accusations rather than trying to throw attention onto Bush. And frankly, I don't care much about this whole thing. It's a response to MoveOn.org. Cool. In the end, I doubt it'll mean anything.

Um... perhaps it's just me, but both of the Swift Boat ads I've seen have denounced Kerry for his "Winter Soldier" testimony and throwing away his metals. The only thing that questions his service is the book, and how many books have questioned Bush and openly slandered him? Frankly, I'm not putting too much faith in the book, but the ads have been attacking everything he did after the war, which no one seems to really notice. It's sad when you are grasping for straws like this one... But we can't question military records, remember?! The way I look at it: One man never went to Vietnam and never actually hurt anyone in the process, the other came back and basically lied to Congress, which ended up making POWs sign War Crimes confessions. Which service is more 'honorable'? Senseless bitching... moving on... And yet, this didn't matter in Clinton's case. Oh boo-hoo. Jobber, what killed Dukakis was when he answered Bernard Shaw's question the way he did and the fact that the man didn't know how the fuck to run a campaign. It wasn't about ads, it was about his utter inability to be able to respond to the ads correctly. First off, Bush has denounced all 527s multiple times. That includes Swift Boat ads, even if he doesn't mention them specifically. Kerry tried to deflect the heat onto Bush, and Bush jujitsued him at his own game. Bush has asked Kerry to denounce all the harmful 527 ads, why has he idly stood by as they commit slander against Bush?

Jeez, you'd think this'd be up already (or maybe it is, hidden under some cryptic topic header ). Anyways, I say a solid start. The tributes were done well, McCain was very solid, and Rudy utterly rocked anyone within a 30 mile radius. These are just brief thoughts, more to come, but lets see some responses!

1001 Things to Hate About The Convention...

Some are funny, but... damn, 1001 is just too much. It wears very thin very quickly, ya know? No offense, just my opinion. -
Is the Republican party by nature, the Majority?
Justice replied to NoCalMike's topic in Current Events
Wow, you almost get it! That's exactly why we are on top, and free trade allows us to keep that innovative edge. We phaze out old, inefficient industries as the cornerstone of our economy for newer and better ones: Textiles to Heavy Industry to Manufacturing and now onto Hi-Tech and Biotech. If Kerry represents liberal economic values, then it's conservative free trade policy that keeping us on top of the world economy, and it's the reason why we are still ahead of China. The same comparison can be made with our military. It's certainly not the largest military out there, but it's better armed and better trained than any military. That's the real reason we can demolish anyone: We might not outnumber them, but we are likely ahead of them by 25 years when it comes to technology. -
Is the Republican party by nature, the Majority?
Justice replied to NoCalMike's topic in Current Events
*laughs* Is it just me, or are some left getting more and more aggressive as we get closer to the election? I mean, just yesterday I had to bitch my roommate down for suddenly getting all touchy (Which lead to the quote of the night in "When someone doesn't do their job, I want them gone!" to which I replied "Then how can you support unions?" ). Anyways, the rest of the world is far more socialist than we are, which is the biggest reason why they lag behind us so far. I dunno how you can call the party that's economic policy is basically allows us to keep a step ahead in the world market a 'dinosaur'. But hey, if you think the whole "Bread line" thing is cutting edge, good for you. Perhaps you fail to realize that the rest of the world is behind us primarily BECAUSE of our conservatism. I find it funny that they'd call the Republican Party a cute joke because, well, in general they are cute jokes to us. It takes more balls to just be an American in today's world, frankly. Hey, you dug your own hole. Don't blame us for it. -
And on-topic, if the Republicans are exploiting 9/11, then the Democrats are exploiting the War in Iraq, trying to desperately turn it into a Vietnam in the eyes of the public.

Old wounds never heal, Tyler.

Yeah, and I have a leg wound to show you... *rimshot* Note: I know the joke here, just wanted to get a little in-joke myself.

Have you posted anything other than conspiracy theories here?

He's covering it for USA Today. Don't ask.

I think we can all agree that it would just be better if they replaced it with this version of the scene.

Just a promo for me.

Of course this really isn't educational, but props to them for making a hilariously entertaining game. I mean, seriously, it's funny as hell and absolutely surreal at times.
