I don't think the BC loss by itself is that much of a tragedy (is keeping a PS2 slim around really all that much trouble? The thing is freakin' tiny), it's the lack of consistency. Sony decided "all of the PS3s will have the EE+GS...for now...except for Europe...until we remove that HW from the other territories' PS3s...then software emulation...which we're not terribly committed to making work..." It's a bloody mess. Freaking hell, at least 360 is across-the-board the way it works (hard drive good, no hard drive bad. With hard drive/updates, these xbox games work -- *online list*). Sony's willy-nillied so damn much with this thing you have to have a flow chart and diagrams to explain the pricing scheme, differences in models, features, and compatibility to anyone who hasn't been paying attention from the beginning.

That must have been one hell of a labor.

It would be awesome if it was a huge lie, and Sony said "due to the extremely positive market response" that they would retain the 60 GB PS3.... Cutting the EE+GS chipset stealthily once all currently produced units go bye-bye, of course. Please, tell us a lie, Sony.
-
I think Sony should have kept the 20 GB or produced it in higher numbers. Sure, it has a smaller HDD, but a version for $400 would put them on the same ground as the premium 360. It has less holes to stick widgets in and no on-board Wi-Fi, but even in that regard its on par with 360.

360 version runs at 60 fps. PS3 version runs at 30 fps. Wii version features a one-handed, simplified "family" mode using just the wiimote (no nunchuck), where the player doesn't control all the movement, just passes and stuff. There are some some other features detailed here.

These last few days/E3 has been quite a kick in the balls for Wii owners, save for Mario Kart Wii being announced. Soul Calibur Legends? - Gaming press says it sucks, confirms what we expected anyway. Project Rygar? - it's a updated version of the FIVE YEAR OLD PS2 game! Project HAMMER - Either cancelled, resource-chopped to development limbo forever, or prostituted to the highest 3rd party bidder. Take your pick. Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles - it's still the only "new" RE game to come out on Wii. Suck it down. I bought my Wii for Nintendo games, so no big. However, it seems like Nintendo tolerates this crap because it makes everything they make look like platinum.

Well, let's look at the positives: + It will help spur on much needed PS3 sales in a period of traditionally slow growth for the market. . . . . ....and that's all I got. Well, those few days or so with Sony not saying or doing something really stupid were nice while it lasted. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Microtendo owning.

Naw, you were vague and I was half paying attention. I just was pressing for more detail because it might make for better discussion here. But "I dislike the concept" makes it crystal. He's an Assist Trophy. He makes skyscrapers pop up out of the ground and launch unfortunately fighters who were standing there up in the air.

On H.A.M.M.E.R. -- the official word on it, that "resources have been shifted" away from it and that it's not being worked on right now matches up with the rumors we heard before. That essentially means cancellation. However, on Nintendo's wii site it comes up as a title *not* published by Nintendo: http://wii.nintendo.com/software_index_en.jsp It also has been this way ever since the rumor was spreading and several sites pointed it out. Nintendo probably sold the current build, game assets and IP outright (MALICE'D!!). Llewellyn likely just gave a canned response she was programmed to say; she probably doesn't even know. Here's what was actually stated: She doesn't have a clue, honestly.
-
I didn't like the first either, really; the whole feel was just way too sloppy. Did you dislike the concept to begin with, or were there things you'd hoped to see improved that just weren't included? The game still involves a bunch of Nintendo characters hitting each other until, typically, one or more scores enough falls within the time limit to win. It's a sequel, not Tekken.
-
Nope, not now, not before. But Justice League Heroes is a pretty decent knockoff.

Not to imagine the insanely varied, almost infinitely customizable multiplayer battles you can come up with, a better camera and a better controller. Most wrestling games don't offer quite as many combinations and different rules to play around with. So, anyone judging this series by the N64 game should learn what they're actually talking about first.

http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/07...pat-update.aspx Full, updated list: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardco...tygameslist.htm Word is that MVC2 doesn't run very well, sadly, and the online for Guilty Gear is really bad, but hey--could be improved over time. Morrowind is a curious addition, since everyone seems to feel the Xbox version didn't run very well anyway.

Wider variety of missions, including civilian tasks for hire? Customizing your supply points, i.e. perhaps picking at least one specific vehicle to start at this point, etc? Rather than just skins, an agent creation mode? At least with a bunch of different premade parts? Considering how far the GTA games have gotten with few *major* fundamental changes, I'd say there's plenty of room to add on. It's just that the creators don't want the game to end up too structured and too much of a slave to a storyline, but there's way more potential than just "kill all the bosses, then hunt down orbs."

I went across the bridge to the last gang, ran over as many of the baddies as I could, rammed their cars, went like a bat out of hell up and down that road ramming gang cars, waiting for them to come out, trying to run them over, stealing their cars, etc. but if I was about to be killed I'd jump into the water, come back up when it was safe, rinse and repeat. However, it wasn't exactly quick getting it maxed out, still. Just much faster than normal progression.
-
Ram baddies' cars, then back up, wait for them to get up and attack you, and run over 'em. Lots of folks have said to keep it up until hit squads come after you, then run over them. I'd imagine that would be really hard to do, though. It's nigh impossible to do even that without killing innocents, which is annoying since they slow your leveling up.

So true. For fun, though--how about we take into consideration some of our own favorite titles, and make up our own content descriptors. Ones with more context, more information, or at least ones that are more entertaining. For instance, Dead Rising: "Intense, gratituitous, and utterly hilarious violence against hordes of the shambling undead." God of War: "Decapitations, dismemberment, disembowment of human and non-human combatants. Many gratituitous breast shots. (SPOILER) , etc." Sonic the Hedgehog 360: "Much Violence against Automatons, Falling into nothingness, suggestive anthromorphic hedgehog and human female sexual themes." You can hit up www.esrb.org to check a game's current descriptors.
-
Content descriptors are included on the back of every ESRB rated game. It's just that you often need to be familiar with ESRB tendencies to know what they really mean. Like "Partial nudity?" Ah, that means bare ass, most likely male bare ass. "Mild language?" "Damn" and "hell" are used in the game.

Yeah, that did look kickass. Although if I didn't own Crackdown I think it would have looked alot less kickass. So, IOW, you're more interested because of Crackdown? Hoping to hear something from RealTime Worlds about the expected sequel... inFamous seems to have a bit of Psi-Ops in there, too, though.
-
inFamous looks great.

TT needs to direct that venom at Sony/Nintendo/retailers, not the rating system itself.

So, after constant denials and rumors, the PSP redesign is official, announced at E3. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v70/spin...pslimsilver.jpg Specifics: Lighter, faster. Less loading times. Can stream video live to your TV (it has a video out port, so you can play your games on a TV without any need for an accessory/mod! Supposedly only works on d-terminal/component, though.) Bundled with Daxter, a 1GB memory stick, and the Family Guy movie. Launches in silver and black colors Retails for $199. Good news all around. I'll likely pick this up soon after it's released. Sure, it costs more than the current core, but comes with a game and a memory stick, so still sounds really good.
-
It's not a port of the arcade game, right?

"Clinically proven to make you more bald, scowly, and prone to shoot things with an oversized firearm." So MS announced no major new 1st party games except a Viva Pinata mini-game compilation? Meh. I guess E3 truly doesn't matter anymore. But since we basically know all of MS/Nintendo/Sony's major releases up until the end of the year, I suspect the other conferences will be this uneventful as well.
