Naturally, that's why I have 16 3D DC games, and over a dozen other 3D games for various systems. Makes perfect sense, Sakura. Do "3D games" and "shitacular interactive movie games" have to go hand-in-hand, though?

Thank you, *bows* Unless you turn the dials off, which is only an option in a horrible glitchy and buggy version of MK3, they're overshadowed by tap-a-rama. Because players will revert to those rather than combos that take actual effort. Also, I hate how normal punches and kicks in MK drain your life meter, instead of doing no damage. Yeah, yeah, favoring "aggressive" play, but if you slant the game too far into "aggressive" you lose much of what gives fighting games substance. Defense is an essential part of fighting games So, somehow this means that MK3 doesn't suck because it finally includes an element of gameplay that were in many other fighting games, but when they put it in they do a lousy job of it? Granted, I'm disappointed it look Street Fighter all the way to 3 to finally implement dashes, but Capcom was doing a little of testing of gameplay elements in Darkstalkers (no, Hunter Chains don't exactly thrill me either). No, just awkward and silly. The standard way isn't any harder.

Andrew is a bitter old man. That's Damuraru. I'm just the Anglesault of the VG set. Can I just set this on top of a TV and it'll be alright? There's no other place for it.

Please everyone note, this part isn't really being denied. As far as actual gameplay goes, my only complaint was that you only get to use the sword near the end of the game. That's one of my fave parts of the game, and it uses a very cool and effective control mechanism, to boot. I'm betting that it was a teaser of sorts of what Metal Gear Raiden could have been like, though, which renders me less enthused about what could have been.

What we have here, folks, is proof that Brock is smarter than Kurt Angle.

While the movement is, overall, smoother than MK2, I wouldn't call MK3's gameplay superior, because it snubs real combos in favor of the dials. And no, those aren't good things. Running's use is very limited. You can't use it to rush all around the screen. You use it to run in and DAC. That's it. Isn't like dashing where you can dash forward and back, mix it up with foot games. EVERYBODY runs the same, so you don't have variety like one dash going over fireballs, another can be used to do special run-only special moves. The makers of the game made it a big deal, and I don't feel it helped MK3's gameplay much, let alone made it superior to MKII's. The run button itself is a clunky concept. Rather than using the round wheel, Williams/Midway decides to make an octagonal wheel for no other reason to be different. You're slipping though, Sakura--I'd think you'd point out that the double-tap is used for certain special moves--which I'd counter by suggesting altering move motions or having triple-taps activate it (like in Tekken). Plus, I get a kick out of the fact that these fiercesome fighters can't jog 20 yards without having to take a break to recover. Also, yeah, the robots are sooo cool. "Help, there are guys in motocross gear attacking me! In bright primary colors! (well, at least Smoke made sense)"

I played it at a Gamestop--no, it isn't. Thanks for the other suggestions, though. I don't think anything good in gaming came out of "focus groups." I'd assume the problem is that the group was made up of MS' "target market"--which was probably 18 to 35 year old males.

That's where you're wrong--I like the gameplay because it has been improved in many ways on MGS. However, they screwed up most of what it had going for it storyline-wise. Most of the skippable codec convos have become gratingly-annoying cinemas with really lousy characters. How is it pretentious to point that out? Whenever a game developer gets the Hollywood bug and seems to out of the blue think he or she is able to entertain in ways outside gameplay, then that person needs to do it very well. This one didn't. If you think this is some great accomplishment for media in general, you probably think Bad Boys II deserved an Oscar. Kojima took a good stealth auction game and tried to add everything from romance to way-out-there sci fi elements, supported by characters that really sucked. That isn't going to work for me. The gameplay between all that crap was actually rather decent, but let's not go overboard here. There's a difference between introducing a wet-behind-the-ears guy to the series who has the skill, brains, and toughness, but lacks the experience and introducing a whiny bishie who spends half the game bickering with his girlfriend (or a simulation), like anyone gives a damn. Would it kill you to remember to call him by his codename, you stupid bitch? Bring Mei Ling back, damnit. She did her damn job. Raiden was a pathetic, transparent attempt to shoehorn a more "marketable" protagonist into the series and ax that mullet-wearing half-breed that didn't have the angst, the pretty hair, the soft skin, and femininity of Raiden. Thank goodness plans for "Metal Gear Raiden" were flushed after the gamers refused to swallow him as the new hero. The ending was a half-ass, thrown-together load of crap that completely departed from the actual story (such as it was) for Kojima to trumpet some "morals" and give us some sort of "twist ending" that was completely unwarranted. The new characters pretty much as a whole suck, with a few minor exceptions. Yes, Hideo, we remember the ninja from MGS, shame you bring it back as a primarily as a nudge and a wink and secondly to cram a character from the prologue into the main story and give us another twist. Shall I even start on the stupidity of a fucking grafted hand being able to take control of the rest of your body?

Thing is, the X-Box represents something much larger as the sole American entrant in the current console war. It's the biggest and the most powerful, however it is also controlled by the most arrogant of developers, and like uber-patriots, its supporters are the most vocal and obnoxious despite their minority status. Therefore, the developers of the system don't even consider the unwieldiness of their system or its controller, because they are so self-centered that they opt to cater to themselves and no one else. The system itself is sadly not as pleasing to the eye as the others--it looks like a mock up of a fake game system that Sean Waltman might use to hide his stash. No, there are titles out and titles coming I'm interested in. I just happen to think that the X-Box's lineup of games is pretty overrated. If the system has a deficiency of certain sorts of games, that's their fault.

And that changes NOTHING! They were designing it with their own hands in mind and not a young lady's, I'd imagine. I'm sure the Japanese just loved those first-run controllers, too. SERVES YOU RIGHT FOR ME HAVING TO FOLD MY KNEES TO FIT IN YOUR CARS!! *Remembers about 20 Japanese people bought the X-Boxes at launch* Ah, bloody hell.

Thank you, Kardo. I'm glad I'm not alone in my opinion. The gameplay in MGS2 is good. Sadly, just like RPGs, your enjoyment of the game heavily hinges on the game's story. However, if the story collapses on itself, then you're left with a very poor gameplaying experience. I can't help it if so many gamers are easily entertained by them. Even if they hadn't pulled that "...and Snake game over! You use whiny bishie now! HAHAHAHA, stoopid gamer! I have your money now! If want more Snake, wait for upgrade!" crap, that garbage still would have pissed me off.

Fuck Metal Gear Solid 2, and whatever substance Hideo Kojima is on these days.

In conclusion, I have no use for Halo. Well, no games yet, but first impression: I like the controller. With the basic design and the memory card slots it is like the bastard offspring of the Dreamcast and Playstation controllers. As opposed to the Gamecube controller, which is like the N64 controller got together with a third party NES controller and had a retarded child.

*bonk, bonk, bonk on the head with X-Box*

Hold the phone, RRR--I missed this: "KID OUTRAGEOUS - the loner; he is Hurricanes equal, but realizes his role in the group (real name: Jeff Hardy)." NO JEFF HARDY RETURN! Nuh-uh! Does Storm Master have basic coordination...?
-
Oh great, Nathano Jonzuki-san is going to be stinking rings up on TV before you know it. See the new hoss, same as the old hoss.
-
Chris Jericho...WCW...late 97-early 98 got him over huge but the WWE does losing streaks for no reason ... I miss WCW!!! Also, Hardy is a heel so it makes no sense to try to do that storyline. Well Rudo, you've just won ChrisMWaters and me over, at least.

Ps1 Guncon only works with PS1 games and the PS2 one only with PS2 games, right? Now THAT is supremely lame.
-
I like them, but on the other hand they're like puzzle games to me: if you have one good one, what the hell do you need anymore for? * And what I was referring to was that a game like Silent Scope doesn't require a lightgun the way it plays, but most of the other shoot 'em ups pretty much do. Anyone know of a good universal gun? It's lame to have to pay for a gun that works on only one console. *Well, Puzzle Bobble is actually different from the other bajillion "stuff falls, match up colors" puzzlers.

How do I know which controller is which? I have rather large hands so I can hold it fine. It's kinda thick though. Older, bigger: Newer, smaller: Thanks. I have the newer/smaller model, although I could still probably bludgeon someone to death with it. Okay, I should have said "fanperson." My bad. I'm pretty sure I'm going to hate KOTOR anyway, but at least I can give it a fair shot before hating it. Buffy--eh, maybe a rent at least. Does HotD3 pretty much require a lightgun?
-
I will not play it with Bjork, eating pork, or with some one from New York. I do not like it Live or dead, why don't you get it, Red?
-
No X-Box Live. Zero interest in going online with it. Lots of games that look good coming out or are out on it--although wanted recommendations. Plus, SNK. M$ doesn't seem to have the bitch-ass Nazi policies over which games can come to the U.S. that Sony has. How do I know which controller is which? I have rather large hands so I can hold it fine. It's kinda thick though. CD Warehouse. Primarily a used music store, but they dabble in used games as well.
-
Why are the first two mentioned any good? I'm not interested in KoToR. How's Panzer Dragoon Orta? And how does it stack up against Squeenix's ripoff of it?
-
Not really. They only had the one and if I don't want to keep it a friend is willing to pay me back the money I paid. There's still Metal Slug, of course.

*grumbles a bit as he gets his ass kicked at Third Strike* *Keeps playing anyway because this game is that awesome*
