  1. The original arcade Punch Out and several shooters would work great with the DS (assuming the screens are stacked vertically), although generally it seems a bit too gimmicky. Oh, and Sony announced PSP/PS2/PSX (that overpriced PS2 with a few extra features) connectivity. Their originality stuns me.
  2. That's the same reason I subscribed (promotion). It's the only reason I even get G.I. and GMR in the first place, but at least it looks like GMR is a good read. G.I. is just more paper to take to the recycling plant.
  3. Jax's "Gotcha" punches also work great against Kintaro. As for Reptile, though...can't think of much to do. It's best to sucker him into uppercuts if you can. I think projectiles also worked well if you did them then jumped around a lot (don't go with the Force Ball though, unless you're feeling really lucky; although one time I Force-Ball, Uppercut, Slide to do some nice damage on him).
  4. i have the Theatrical version DVD. the "Boomstick Edition" 2 disc set is just your disc (The Bootleg edition) and mine packaged together. What's the difference, BTW? I know I was disappointed when I got the DVD and found out it only had one of the endings instead of both of them. The VHS had both of them. Are they the same except for endings, or each has different bonus features? And although I like ED2 the most, I like them all. It's rare when a series has two good sequels, let alone two good sequels in different genres. Hopefully Campbell's upcoming movie "Bubba Ho-Tep" will get release around here, but if not I guess I'll have to wait on the DVD. I'd really like to see that and Lost Skeleton of Cadavra.
  5. It won't let you continue though after you opt to continue. It just gets stuck at that screen. Also, if they actually fixed that thing with Sheeva, I somehow missed it. Dial-A-Combos aren't "cool" because you say so. Hated them then and always will. It also always seemed the only reason they added the Run button was to let you do them. The Running isn't like dashing where you can use it for other purposes--it's clunky, unnatural, and difficult to use effectively. You can't, say, run then slide in with Subby. I haven't played them in a long time but I don't think you can backdash either. A Run BUTTON is a stupid idea, and another instance of MK having a button perform a function that easily could be performed with the control pad. Although I could at least see the purpose of a block button. Run button? None whatsoever. Just about every other fighting game with running does double-taps, but nooo, they had to be different. Also, are you trying to say crashing even 10% of the time isn't significant? That's very significant. Besides all of the bugs? Well, seriously, the full list (I think): -UMK3's hiddens are playable from the beginning, I think Human Smoke even gets his own slot. -Noob Saibot and Rain are playable. -Raiden is back, with his MKII sprite. -Classic versions of Raiden, Kano, and Jax -Johnny Cage returns, played by a new actor. -Finishers for incomplete UMK3 fighters. -Goro, Kintaro, Shao Kahn, and Motaro are playable. -Aggression Meter (like the SNK Rage Gauge, kinda). -Shao Kahn's Treasures can be picked from when you win (the fatalities demo is the best one) -That Khameleon character (not a big deal) Jump kick, jump kick, jump kick, sweep now and then, uppercut...that will work just about every time. Once you get to Shang Tsung, you're set. If you can manage to avoid his Flaming Skulls, he's an utter puss, and he has almost no animation. See the above "strategy" for MKI endurance matches.
  6. CvS2 is a much better game than CVS despite its presentation problems. Gameplay-wise, yeah. However, I hate it when a company slacks off in any way for a sequel.
  7. I got the latest issue of GMR yesterday, but only got around to reading it at night. Wow, there's actually lots of good news on the horizon. First off--shock of shocks, Astroboy gets the cover. There's going to be two games for it, one on PS2 by Sonic Team (re-reads that, brain breaks)--hopefully a vast improvement over the crappy version of Sonic Heroes. The other for GBA, produced by those whacky group of Ex-Konami employees, Treasure, and Sega's Hitmaker development house. The PS2 game is going to play...somewhat like NiGHTs with more play mechanics when you're flying, but there's ground-based stuff as well. The GMR peeps got to play a bit of it hands-on and it looks mahvelous. Apparently you even get new weapons and gimmicks when you beat a boss. The GBA game is supposed to be an awesome old-school style game, packed with special effects and techniques, hearkening back to those glorious platformers of the Genesis days. There's even a bit of Gunstar music in the game, supposedly. The screenshots look very much like Treasure's work, to be sure. Lots of speculation over the Nintendo Dual Screen. There's criticism, as expected, but actually a lot of constructive discussion about it. Maybe it will be a hit afterall. A couple other touches I like: actually acknowledging that not everyone gushes over Metal Gear Solid's overbearing melodrama, and the magazine closes by daring to bash Rockstar's shitacular Manhunt. *applause* The reviews still are short though, blah. However, this issues is head-and-shoulders above just about anything G.I. has done in years.

  10. You forget that no matter what kind of wrestler you are in the ring or how you act backstage, if Vince thinks you can make him money, you're as good as gold in his book.
  11. Well, if they wanted him to sign another deal, they could do Angle/RVD and hold the Eddie G feud out as a bargaining chip.
  12. But...if he's probably not going to sign an extention, why bother switching him to Smackdown? Usually they build an angle around a "jump." EDIT: Nevermind. If they did decide to hotshot RVD/Eddie, that could be pretty kickass. Although that's face vs. face. Face vs. face can be done really well, but I don't quite trust WWE to pull it off correctly.
  13. MKT also isn't very good. Well, the game itself I don't like (check my GameFAQs review), but I'm talking about how much of a pain in the ass it is to try to play. It freezes and glitches up a lot, the loading times get to be really annoying, if you play it on a PS2 the glitches are even worse. I don't think you can continue a game once you lose a kredit (the continue screen just runs out of time and the game ends). I've tried 3 or 4 copies of them and they've all been horrendously buggy.

You mean he's not in already? There's little reason for him not to be, unless WWE Revisionist History blames the disasterous Nash run on him.

    No, it wasn't "scarcasm." Flair's position as the well of heat Evolution constantly dips into and the sales of the Flair DVD make him a "money maker." I certainly believe they'd try to protect him more than Richards.

    Probably doing a Flair Flop as he dies too. I suppose this will be when Evolution breaks up, during the inevitable Flair/HHH vs. Batista/Orton match, unless Batista gets injured before then.
  20. The nWo also hadn't debuted in WWE at that point, and hadn't subsequently becoming a freakin' joke yet. Goldberg had already been in WWE a good while, and hasn't been much of a draw except in high-profile matches. There's a difference between people having no idea what the nWo might do, and Goldberg sitting at ringside possibly to interfere. I don't think that alone sold anybody on the show. The nWo also provided a "small" boost, you admitted. The nWo coming back was a much, much bigger deal than some guy who has been in the company for nearly a year sitting beside the ring.
  21. I have the "Bruce Campbell vs. The Army of Darkness" DVD, says something about bootleg, but just a marketing gimmick. The cover sucks, but it has restored scenes, alternate versions of finished scenes (which you can restore at the proper points), plus there's commentary from Bruce, Sam, and someone else (it's been a while). Basically, the series started when Raimi, Sam, and some other college friends filmed "Within the Woods" on a Super 8 camera. It was mainly to raise money to film The Book of the Dead (Evil Dead's original title). In it, Ash got to be the zombie. And yeah, Evil Dead is a more straightforward horror movie. Evil Dead II is somewhere between a true sequel and a remake. It's kind of meant to replace Evil Dead storyline-wise and set up Army of Darkness. It's a mix of horror and comedy which I prefer in a lot of ways to AoD. AoD is pure comedy. I don't care for Evil Dead 1 much, but I have the other two on DVD.
  22. I wish the controls in Maximum Carnage were a bit tighter, like in Spiderman (Genesis), but it's still a pretty fun game. Pretty hard, though.
