  1. Sadly, I pretty much agree, and this is from some one who was considering majoring in political science 2 years ago and already has A's in all the Poli Sci classes I've ever taken. I'm a Republican, but I disagree with just about everything Bush has done. However, I didn't like a single one of the Democrat candidates that much. Clark was the only one that appealed to me any, but Kerry's going to get the nomination. I don't care anymore. Probably everyone knows this, but you don't have to "declare war" to have a war. Just send troops out, and if Congress doesn't declare war, recall those troops and send different ones out. That loophole really should be fixed. Also agreed, except for the viewpoint on Kerry. I hate Kerry.
  2. At least they haven't given Booker Beaver Cleavage's old theme music...yet.
  3. Yeah, I need to learn to play it, too. In the meantime though, it's still really, really good. Are there any REPUTABLE sites I can find a flip top casing from? You said the slide tool messed your PS2 up so I don't wanna try that. Lik-sang has NOTHING in the realm of importing devices for PS2. Hell, I can't even find Metal Slug 3 anywhere. Also, was that Sammy vs. Capcom rumor just a rumor after all, or is something actually going to happen with it? I haven't heard anything solid about it at all.
  4. I prefer the Japanese Pokemon names. ... *runs away* *smashes you with a giant mallet* No acting like Kamui/Duo allowed here! What's the deal with the Venis/Storm team? They started an angle with it and then did nothing to follow up on it. We never found out--did Storm get to bang the Mormon chicks? I'd take that over the alleged "adult" direction WWE's been taking.
  5. Awesome. If I could design my concept of the perfect fighter, it probably would be a pale imitation of Guilty Gear. Was playing X2 last night...hot damn that thing looks amazing, the music is fantastic, and it plays fast and great. Although I'm a complete scrub at the game, I don't care. Now, will the SCEA anti-2D Nazis let this through? Or am I going to have to find a flip-top (still having a hell of a hard time finding one) for my PS2 or spring for an X-Box?
  6. Hulk deserved the nomination. It just wouldn't deserve to win.
  7. I'd imagine they'd tape it and edit it down for TV.

    Ric Flair

Please, the phrase is "in no condition to perform." I thought it was "confronting personal demons?"
  9. Jericho has given up any hope or ambition of being a main eventer anymore, or even getting a championship reign. He's just going to accept that shit sandwich of a title reign he got as a filet mignon and never expect anything more. He's decided instead to just use his bullet-proof heat to be HHH's second-fiddle and attempt to get over as many people as possible. He's a Jobber to the Stars, nothing more and nothing less.
  10. Really freakin' lame that the matches are still super-short. *sigh* On the other hand, no Torrie, Eddie is over big still, the angle with Angle is picking up...and... "They sing The West Texas Rednecks song from WCW" = I'm watching. "There's only one thing that I hate, cuz it's a bunch of crap. I-yi-yi hate rap!!" Maybe they'll do Good Ol' Boys next, although that'd probably be best left to some one on Raw, though, with Stacy on that show.
  11. What the fuck is that noise on WWE Originals that is supposed to be Stacy's "song?" That's the most horrible thing I've ever heard called "music."
  12. Damn straight. The thing is, Dio's a better singer and songwriter, but Ozzy was a better "frontman," loaded...with more charisma. Without Randy Rhoads songwriting talent and mad guitar skillz, I don't think Ozzy would have been such a huge success. Sabbath with Dio was mostly pretty awesome, but the act collectively sounded a little out of date.
  13. It's just a half-assed version of the MK3 craplogy, though. Not really an original game.
  14. What about DBZ/Sailor Moon fighting games? Do you have Double Dragon V? That's on Jag as well, I think. Battle Monsters? Slaughter Sport (genesis)? The TMNT fighters? (range from good to bad) Ballz? (refrains from bad joke) Batman Forever? (It has a bad fighting game in it as a bonus) VF2 (Genesis)?
  15. You collect extremely bad games...I guess the B-movie lover in me kinda appreciates that. Wasn't the sole reason that anyone cared about Kasumi Ninja was...the Scottish dude's "lift me kilt and shoot a fireball" special? Also, wasn't the title of the other game Ultra VorteX? Or did the creators think they couldn't bear to have the title not contain a "K," and they would go a step further by not only spelling the title wrong, but spelling it so that it doesn't even sound correct?
  16. The hell?! I thought that, if you don't pull that "compared to other games on that system" stuff, that the Gameboy MK 1 would be.
  17. I agree with a lot of what Frigid said. However, I didn't need my ass beat as a kid all that much. However, I'll admit that when I realized my mother yelled over everything and any situation, the effect of her screaming kinda lost its effect. Then I just tuned that out. However, I didn't disobey and I had good values instilled in me. I couldn't even swipe a magazine or anything without feeling guilty about it. However, garbage like Stern being removed from the airwaves doesn't scream "OH NO, FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS AT STAKE!" as far as I'm concerned. There's nothing to substantiate that argument. I fail to see how vulgar content qualifies as constitutionally-protectable speech. We aren't talking about shows discussing volatile issues in a slightly controversial manner, or even discussing sex in an intelligent, constructive manner. Nope, blunt, prurient content is what we're describing here. This content is available on public airwaves...during hours which kids don't listen? Kids stay up late a lot and others get up early. It's there and very likely to be encountered by them. Yes, I'm of the opinion that we need to "protect the children" but my standards for censorship aren't really that strict. A highly sexualized culture can adversely affect a growing child. However, the same is true of over-censorship. Being too sheltered will cause kids to be very unprepared for the situations and issues when they come up. That's why a parental role is highly necessary. The parents can't be there 24 hours a day, though. The public sector has a responsibility to keep themselves reasonably clean, but neither the parents alone nor censorship alone is going to cut it. Another example: the GTA games. Who is at fault when kids get their hands on it, the parents who let their kids play it or the game makers who make it? Both. An adult should be able to purchase an allegedly "mature" game if he or she wants, regardless of how lousy it is and how much it panders to the lowest common denominator. However, the creators of the content should bear some responsibility. No, I'm not saying award the shitty parents with millions. I'm talking about preventing them from so blatantly marketing to everyone. They market it during shows that air at all hours of the day. Magazines hype it up as something so great and rebellious and nasty that kids have to have it. Parents will let little Johnny pick up the box, reach up and hand it to the parent, and *I* have to tell the parent that maybe that game isn't appropriate. If the parent thinks it's okay--nothing can be done. It isn't even necessarily that the game causes little Johnny to be an irresponsible little punk. What I feel is that this irresponsible parent letting little Johnny do whatever the hell he want is one of the underlying problems. Buying the game and letting him watch violent, adult TV is a symptom of being a shitty parent. However, if you think that kids raised on a steady diet of violent TV, overly-sexual content, and little or no parental supervision is going to turn out to be fantastic, I would highly disagree. However, there are very few adequate, let along perfect, parents out there. Very few parents will sit down with their child, explain to them about sex and violence in a constructive manner, shield them from it as much as possible, and raise them with solid values. Parents increasingly don't give a damn. I won't blame this on the decrease of religion or the breakdown of the nuclear family, because frankly I would be guessing and taking stabs in the dark. However, I see little reason for Britney Spears to be writhing around on TV moaning IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON singing about sex, and I don't consider her an "artist" for doing it, either. The sort of content that becomes acceptable gets more and more risque. I won't say that in the 50's or 60's people didn't overreact. They did then and they do now a lot. That's because the standards of acceptable behavior and content varies wildly. Organizations try to adopt a reasonable standard for that period of time, but often the standard is way too lax or way too strict--sometimes at the same time. That being said, this particular incident with Stern, involving a CALLER contributing that content...well, it isn't Stern's fault. If I had my choice he'd have been taken off air a looong time ago for stuff that he, you know, actually did allow to air. If you're a bit older and set in your ways, there isn't much sense protecting you from yourself. You can listen, watch, play, etc any tasteless garbage you want. However, if you're airing content that is objectionable, you have a certain responsibility to keep yourself clean. I also oppose a lot of this content on an intellectual basis. Back when the standards were stricter, producers of films, etc had to be more clever with getting their message across. Open, explicit sexual language had to be replaced with innuendos that adults would get and kids usually wouldn't. Violence wasn't as overused and commonplace, so it had more effect when it was used. Now? Everything's overdone. Sexuality is open and used instead of something more clever and tasteful. Violence is used to mask crappy films and TV. No, not all the time, but a good bit of the time. "Edgy" content is a crutch for hack writers. A good bit of this could be applied to the WWE/F, incidentally.
  18. "Imagine Trish being FRESHENED UP as the slut Christian valet and Jericho RIPPING HER. Good idea? Feedback." Torrie needs it WAY more and it would fit her character like a con--er, glove. Trish as a heel never really grabbed me. Maybe because she was really, really bad on the mic and in the ring when she was a heel, but she doesn't seem to be able to pull it off well.
  19. 5 years?! Well, let's put it this way: I thought he was, at most, a 2-year OVW guy when he debuted...and so far the main improvement I've seen is that he can sell pretty well...and hasn't gotten injured again yet. However, he seems to be unable to do much when he's not in the ring with a guy like Michaels or Benoit. Oh, he's okay on the mic, too. That counts for a lot.
  20. You are correct! *gives CanadianChick a cookie*
  21. But in those games, there was real gameplay, not "OMG YU CAN KILL H00K3rz LOL!" The missions themselves are not fun and have no replay value. It's the non-mission shit that people care about. GTA is sooo played out, and R*'s programmers became pompous pricks because of their games' commercial success, so fuck them.
  22. I'm sure it beats that awful MK Advance.
  23. *has no wise-ass remark to respond to that.*
  24. Never even heard of that. Was that the MK DA upgrade for GBA? What the hell is up with the blades in Baraka's arms in those pictures? Those can't possibly retract. Looks like good rain/lighting effects in that stage, though.
