I'd say they're more over because of nostalgia than they are ring work.

There are plenty of Americans who are sexist too. I don't like sexism either, but don't act like all of Japan thinks in one big collective. -Duo I don't. However I have to make generalizations if we're going to talk about a certain culture, and I could go over some generalizations I have about the U.S. and they're not very kind either. However, I don't recall the U.S. having such a severe problem with women being groped in subways that government needed to step in and take action. We usually keep it confined to the workplace, I think. American women don't feel they absolutely must run the water in the sink while they tinkle. What I'm getting at is there are people who think Japan is perfect and wants the U.S. to become like it overnight. They also bitch and whine when a few nipples are removed from an anime for it's U.S. release, and are NEVER satisified with a dubbing job (at least having dub and sub on DVD releases quiets them usually). Those are the types that cause people to have negative impressions about American anime fans as a whole.

When Test was starting out, I thought he had some workrate issues--his selling was one. The other major one was that he had a great moveset, but he would use a bunch of cool looking powermoves without much rhyme or reason--quite spotty. Basically, he seemed like the power-move version of RVD. I figured in time he'd be a good worker. Instead, he lost most of the cool moves, and still has selling issues (although when it's for a storyline, he can sell an injury well). He was never great on the mic either, so I'm not too excited about him.

WWE controversy, Trish on OTR and Flair overseas
AndrewTS replied to DerangedHermit's topic in The WWE Folder
Plus...well, if anyone wants I can list some of the many, many situations on WWE TV that they'd find objectionable. Not surprisingly, MANY of them feature Torrie. -
I'm probably fall into the more casual category. I like some anime, but I don't buy it too often. Plus, I find many aspects of the Japanese culture, namely the sexism and gender discrimination, absolutely repugnant. In addition, I dislike how Asian cultures frown on individuality or "rocking the boat" in any situation. That's why Japan's economy is so heavily capitalist but there's been so little done to reform it and employ a decent welfare system. The US looks practically socialist compared to Japan. Of course, Japan hasn't suffered a Great Depression, so perhaps their system works well enough for them. If not, they'd have to reform it. However, Asian collectivism helps provide a welfare safety net, which may be much more effective than what we have. Ironically, socialism fits together perfectly with most Asian cultures' ideals, but Japan is so heavily competitive I doubt they'd respond well to a shift to heavy social welfare reforms. I'd throw in "humiliating game shows" as another pet peeve--but since reality TV became big, we're just as guilty. I'm aware we have a hell of a lot of problems ourselves, but I hold neither our culture nor Japan's to be an ideal standard like other people do.

WWE controversy, Trish on OTR and Flair overseas

*applause* I don't get why some of you were upset about this--there was quite a bit of backlash about Austin's bullshit here. *refrains from manboob joke* Speaking of which, those two likely stirred up a good deal of anger. I doubt the BSWCAB knows there's a split roster, but the offending content has been on both shows. Sic' em, gals!! Give Vince hell! -
I think he'd make a mediocre Champ, at best. Christian all over again. How so? When Christian won the title, even the announcers treated it as completely meaningless. Christian got very little mic time, and when he was he was being overshadowed in segments with other guys. If Orton won the IC title, they'd probably make a big deal about it.

I don't think there are many stereotypes too much worse about console RPG players than portrayed in FFTA. Back on the topic of FFX-2, I'm somewhat perplexed that it's a sponsor for WWE. The demographics seem almost completely separate. You mean like the sort portrayed in FFTA, furry freaks, really obsessive DBZ fans, etc?

I'm fine with her matches, but I'm sick of her feuding with Trish, I doubt a feud with Lita would be good, and she seems to be injury prone unfortunately.

Duo/Plunderin: HYPHENS, people! i.e. "with the other acne-ridden, balding, fat, stinky, girlfriends-wanted-to-spend-time-with-the-copy-of-FFX-2-that-you-rented-over-actually-spending-time-with-you-troll-people?"

CLUBBING FOREARMS! SPINEBUSTER! Yup, this is WWE alright.
-
YOU FUCKED UP! YOU FUCKED UP!! Think that's where it happened? Gail--stay on your feet.

Trish squealing while bent in unnatural positions...mmm.
-
Ah...the Armageddon logo is an iron cross with HHH's big mouth open.
-
"I still can't figure out why Kane would chokeslam Goldberg." Why does WWE have their announcers make stupid questions/statements like this?
-
When they do video packages--they have Orton doing a DROPKICK to foleyed in exaggerated sound effects? They slowed down Trips' voice I think...
-
I've yet to see a ROH show... Would one of the other ROH guys do a promo where he laughs at Masada for losing to FREAKIN' MAVEN?!
-
I thought we were still talking about vocabulary and phrases, not grammar. Spanish speakers and Francophones, though: what the hell is the deal with assigning genders to inanimate objects?!
-
I think Matt's getting the drawl back again.

Raw recap...then we can play "Spot When the Injury Occurs!"

Okay--so his finish is the Boss Man Slam it seems.
