I'm not seeing this whining. I love how there seem to be so many people who hate the Cubs more than they actually like any other team. Yeesh, get a life.
-
Wait, who are you?
-
I don't want the Dodgers to advance any further because then we'll have Joe Torre shoveled down our throats. Everyone's overlooking that this team, despite its core of very good young talent, sucked until Manny came to town.

I've got no problem with Fontenot. I'd love for him to see more playing time in 2009. 2003 will always be the most crushing given the circumstances, but this is devastating in a completely different way. This team should've chugged along to the World Series and they didn't win a single game. The Dodgers had their breaks, but the Cubs did virtually nothing in the 27 innings of baseball played that indicated they even belonged to be participating in a postseason game. For those of you keeping score at home, Soriano made the final out in Game 3 last year, too. He had a very good season, but for what he's paid, he's awful. I cannot wait until they decide to eat the rest of that contract and unload him. He does not fit the mold of where this team looks like it is going offensively. There isn't a lot this team needs to do. I doubt they can match their win total in 2009, but as teams keep proving, it's just a matter of making the playoffs. Anyone who followed this team should be able to tell you they were looking like World Series material almost all year. They just choked. Simple as that. I can't get mad. I'm not happy, but for whatever reason, I feel nothing. Maybe I died in the living room or something.

Holy shit, a run.
-
This is brutal. And Daryl Ward. Why is he here?
-
Also want to point out that the Cubs have more errors in the series than they do runs.
-
Soriano is just an incredibly maddening player. I can't call him awful, because he's great when he's on. But he's a raw player who ultimately is what he is. Fontenot, a guy who's only playing because of the continued self-destruction of Fukudome, has put together the best ABs tonight. He had a very good season, actually. It was clear early that this just isn't happening. The Cubs are definitely choking here, but NOTHING has gone their way and a lot has gone the Dodgers way.
-
Sorry, they were great all year, but this team is done. I loathe the five-game series and can't wait for the Phillies to steamroll the Dodgers.

Horse shit call at third.

I don't find the Angels a compelling team in the least, so I won't cry if they're booted from the first round. I just have zero desire to see another Red Sox championship.

"Next Friday...I'm gonna do it!"
-
K-Rod has nothing on Papelbon when it comes to jackass celebrations. "YEAH, BRAH!" Meathead.
-
This postseason's shaping up to be a real disappointment. We had four very good match-ups on paper and it looks like we're about to be poised for ALL of them to be three-game sweeps.
-
K-Rod's getting exposed. He's an elite closer, but he's blown quite a few saves. Add on the number of cheapie saves he got and he's going to be really overvalued this winter.
-
Don't worry. The Angels have an approach at the plate that is almost on the level of the Cubs' the last two nights.
-
Too many Sunday victories.

Yeah, but how much of this hate should go toward the team or fans? They don't ask that ESPN refuse to do anything creative w/r/t speaking about the Cubs. They aren't asking ESPN to dwell on this century of futility thing. But just like everything else ESPN chooses to really lament, the 100 years thing is just an easy cliche that fills up air time.

I really feel for Ron Santo through all this. Every time I hear about the arrogance of Cubs fans, I think of people like Santo, who invest their entire being into this franchise. There are unbearable Cub fans, but that's going to happen with any team that shows signs of prominence. How much longer until we here about arrogant Rays fans? It just comes with the territory and it's important not to lump all fans of a team with the bad ones and bandwagon jumpers.

I guess, although it seems like that's a silly reason to open fire. There was this girl at the first bar I was at that was clapping any time the Dodgers did well because her friend liked the Cubs. I wanted to punch her. And this was before my first drink. Emo big-chinned cunt.

My reasons: 1) I hate, hate, hate creases. Infrequent use slows this process down incredibly. 2) I'm one of those dickheads that likes to have the color scheme of his shoes match whatever shirt he's wearing. 3) I love the versatility. Most people wear a lot of different shirts and even a good selection of pants. Why shouldn't that apply to shoes? Could be all the drinks I didn't pay for because the Cubs suck ass, but I'm pretty sure that Dodger fandom aside, you and I could be pretty tight in real life.
-
Do they all like a lot of other teams, too?
-
I will say that I don't understand the hate for the Cubs. It isn't as if they're some powerhouse team that is running a monopoly on all the big ticket free agents. I can't believe a team that hasn't won a championship in a century can get so much hate.
-
I'm just...at a loss for words. Cub implosions aren't anything new, but anyone who watched this team with any regularity knows that this team was different. An offensive approach of patience that has completely disappeared the last two nights. I could go on a multi-paragraph rant, but there's nothing worth saying. This team has looked awful. Zambrano deserved better tonight. The defense was at its worst and the offense was embarrassing. We can call this a choke. Lou said Fukudome's done, by the way. Thank god.

These playoffs suck already.
