Don't really agree with it since this team desperately needs some continuity in the organization , but the fantastic collapse sealed the deal, and Angelos fired his first manager mid season ever. Hopefully this at least sparks the team:

I'm in utter shock, I really am. I wanted to believe Raffy when Canseco accused him and even if he was using you'd think he'd quit knowing they were testing everyone. The sad part is this destroys his HOF chances. I spent all month arguing with people saying he was "borderline" by touting his accomplishments and was sure he'd be in first ballot, now, I really don't know. It sure gives the anti-Raffy HOF crowd ammunition. This sucks.

Could someone answer my Frank Shamrock question? This is the "MMA" discussion thread, not the Pride GP discussion thread, you know.

If you consider the only other players in history to hit 3,000 hits and 500 homeruns are Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Eddie Murray, then yeah I guess he's done nothing of note. Raffy doesn't get the respect he deserves because he's not a media darling. He's a quiet , all business guy who goes out and does his job every day like he's done for years. He doesn't wear flashy jewlery, he doesn't give the media juicy quotes and he doesn't demand a star treatment. Doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. Palmeiro has had an amazing career, and has been underrated by his lack of flash, not playing on many winning teams (not his fault) and playing in an era of juiced up monsters who trumpted his stats in the short term, although none had the consistency or longevity of Palmeiro. He's a first ballot HOF and I hope it's wearing an O's hat.

Martin, if the trade is Julio, Kline and Bigbie off the roster (Penn is in the minors and wouldn't effect our 25), and Burnett and Lowell to the roster plus Bedard recalled we wouldn't have to send down anybody. Ray isn't going anywhere he is our righty setup man and probably closer of the future if (when) Ryan walks after this year. Anyway, I would like to do the happy dance but will restrain myself since if every time something like "The Orioles are the favorites and a deal should be completed soon" type deal was true we'd have Derek Lee, Vlad Guerrero, Ivan Rodriguez, Carlos Delgado and Tim Hudson on our team.

It has already been confirmed in several local articles that Lowell would play 1st base allowing Palmeiro to mostly DH (Sosa moves back to RF, Gibbons to left). They also said he would play some time in LF. Also, since he's signed through next year, if you believe his slump this year is just an abberation along the lines of Pat Burrell or Paul Konerko from a couple years ago (and I do, he's still pretty young at 31 and has shown no signs of delcine the past 2 seasons), he would become our 1st baseman next year, bounce back and add more offense.

What are you talking about? Of course TNA and its fans wanted Hardy- WHEN HE WAS A FREE AGENT. If he would commit for a year, then sure it would have been awesome and he could have been a great asset. He signed with WWE. Period. He's the one that turned down TNA. They had an oppurtunity to use him but it would only be for one show and would likely put over a WWE (their main competitor) storyline. They didn't need him or want him in that capacity and I agree. They put on a good show without him that put over Rhino and Joe, 2 guys who will be with them for the long run.

Random question that I'm sure longtime fans are sick of answering but it's something I've always wondered considering I always read about the guy being a UFC legend: what happened to Frank Shamrock? He's on the outs with UFC and Dana White, correct? Can someone just give some background to that and what he's up to now? Thanks.
