    Give Monty Brown the Title?

He's marking his territorry (at least he doesn't do it like most animals do! ) Also to the poster that suggested Monty needs a 2nd finisher to go along with the Pounce he does, he has The Alpha Bomb. Pounce is just more sudden and explosive when it happens. I'm not getting this whole argument that it is not a realistic move, either. Thinking in the context of "real life" what do you think would be more damaging, someone holding you by your legs and dropping you lightly on your stomach, or wrapping their legs around your head and flipping you on your back or a 260 pound former NFL defensive linebacker charging at you and ramming into your side at full force, no pads?

DIMEBAG DARRELL SHOT ONSTAGE IN COLUMBUS, OH

This is terrible news. Pantera was one of my favorites for their time, and Darrell was an influencial force in metal guitar riffs. What posseses someone to do something like this I will never ever understand. One report I read from the club owner said the shooter left the club and then re-entered with the gun, holding up the door man and then rushing the stage. I can't imagine the horror of those in attendance watching one of their heroes literally have their brains blown out. God speed to the families, especially of the innocent victims that got hurt in this nonsense, and hopefully this ugly incident at least leads to concert security being beefed up in the future.

    Question about PPV Webcasts

Same here. At 17.95 they were a bargain, and I didn't mind ordering even the lackluster looking cards, now that they've doubled the price, no way. I've ordered only one since the price hike and that was Unforgiven (and I really have no idea what possesed me to do that. I think a combination of boredom/nothing to do that night and an interest in HHH/Orton).

    Give Monty Brown the Title?

I don't see at all where you're getting that The POUNCCCCCCCEEEEEEEE~!!!!!! is being mocked. The fans love it. They react to it the same way they did Goldberg's spear. It's sold as a devestating finishing move. I don't think it's a joke either. This is a former NFL linebacker, 260 pounds of granite colliding into you full force from the side. That's a lot more credible than most wrestling moves. I don't know how you can't like Monty Brown's promos either. They are his own unique style and he is fully confident behind the mic. The man says he watched The Discovery Channel in his spare time just so he can pick up new animal related terms to use in his promos. Say what you want about his abilities in the ring but his promos, charisma and finishing move are not to be denied. Period!

    Final Resolution

Not at all. The King Of The Mountain match was where Jeff Jarrett won his current world title, back in May I think. The original match was Truth (champ) vs. Jarrett vs. Styles vs. Raven vs. Chris Harris. It's like the opposite of a ladder match in that instead of retrieving the belt, you need to climb and hang it, but in order to be eligable to climb you needed to score a pinfall over an opponent. The opponent who gets pinned has to go into a mini jail cell cage at ringside for 2 minutes, and then is released back into the match again. Part of the fun is if another participant gets pinned, and someone is still has time left in the box, there could be 2 or even 3 guys sharing the cage for how ever long their time remained. I believe you could also pin opponents even after you've gained eligability to send others into the box, both to keep them from gaining eligability or if they have a pinfall to just keep them out of your way as you climb the ladder. The match was really awesome and is most memorable for AJ doing a spectacular flip dive over the cell at ringside onto a bunch of people. Hopefully you get the idea. TNA's match gimmicks are great in their uniqueness but sometimes can be a bit convoluted.

    Give Monty Brown the Title?

Yes, Brown is the best shot they've got at creating a new star. He has tons of charisma, the fans are into him and as evidenced by his match with Jarrett on Impact! (which was a trial baloon make no mistake about it), he proved he could hang and helped Jarrett to his best match in a long time. I'm all for it, but I want to see it done right. TNA's biggest weakness is their finishes, I want to see it done clean and decisively.

    Savage gone AGAIN?

They don't even have to put in on last, as they've shown they're not afraid to put on "the best match last". I think no matter what the NWA title situation is, they should book an Ultimate X between Petey, Sabin and Skipper, give them 20-25 minutes and have them close the show. I think if TNA can get into the habit of ending their shows with spectacular matches they will leave a lasting impression on the audience and continue to grow...

    TNA Turning Point poll

Quite interesting indeed. TNA puts on a good show, as not one poster here who ordered was dissapointed (heck, I don't think I've heard anything but glowing reviews from anyone who ordered), and even more to my suprise positive interest is way up amongst those who didn't order. I hope this bodes well for Final Resolution. Pending at least a decent card, I hope everyone gives TNA a shot, because they are in a critical period right now, and the only way for them to sustain is through PPV buys. I'm proud to support an alternative!

    Savage gone AGAIN?

Hahah, he wanted the belt. He could barely do more than punch at the PPV. This is good news since TNA would be going backwards if they truly booked Jarrett/Savage at Final Resolution, had all these people tune in (and according to my unscientific poll, there is an interest in TNA's PPVS) and have everyone come away with a stinker. Now let's get behind Monty Brown.

    Randy Savage last night

The Kings Baby! Wheee... Make your own jokes: It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Chris Sabin! For more awesome photos, click here: http://www.tnawrestling.com/multimedia/liv...l1/gallery.html

    Final Resolution

If they're going with Savage/Jarrett they're in trouble, because Macho Man could barely move at Turning Point. I have to think they're reconsidering that. I agree with bps that a King of The Mountain match would be an excellent idea. It introduces one of the TNA's better innovative matches to a lareger audience, gets plenty of people involved, creating drama and allows Savage to participate while being largely protected. Those little jail cells are awesome too. I agree this would be a good match for the KOTM: Jarrett vs. Savage vs. Abyss vs. Hardy vs. Brown Styles vs. Daniels starting a feud and having a match would be good. DDP vs. Raven in some sort of wacky streetfight gimmick. Ultimate X: Sabin vs. Petey vs. Skipper, ohhhh yeah Hall/Nash vs. AMW 8 man elimination: Garza/Dutt/Batts/Clark vs. Kash/Shane/Kazarian/Nosawa (or whoever) 6 man tag for the titles, D'more locked in a cage at ringside: 3Lk vs. Divine/Roode/Young. Something like that I think would be a good card. If they dont do the KOTM match (which I dont think they will, totally our idea) then I would headline with Brown vs. Jarrett and do the title switch. CLEAN.

    NWA and/or TNA Questions

Lo Ki is not under contract to TNA. TNA only uses contracted wrestlers (even the job guys have short term deals) and Lo Ki has refused because he wants the freedom to work in Japan. I suppose if he were to return, they could team him with either one but I doubt that's in the plans. Lo Ki has really not been mentioned much. When TNA was created, in exchange for giving the NWA a national outlet, the NWA board which still controls the titles gave TNA complete control over the booking of the NWA World Title and NWA Tag Team Titles. If TNA folded, the board would retain booking rights over those titkes. The X Title was created by TNA and I don't know its status as recognised by the NWA board, but I'd imagine they would gain control of that too. They don't have the woman's title because there are no women to wrestle and women's wrestling by and large sucks anyway.

    TNA Turning Point poll

Interesting, no one who ordered the show has said they were diappointed in it yet, and even more interestingly a majority of non-orders seem to wish they had ordered it. Hopefully this bodes well for Final Resolution in January!

    Randy Savage last night

Im sure TNA's website will have pics up soon from the show. The Torch guys might have had a point that he looked like a puffier George Carlin. He was really thin and looked as small as Styles and Hardy, had a thick black beard and large bald spot. He looked old basically.

The cage match was def. better than the first one they had (and I LOVED that match). I think the X Division Title Match deserves a lot of love too. Tremendous heat, some crazy moves and reversals and given the right amount of time, making it better than last month's Styles/Williams match, but just lacking the ending. That's whats so frsutrating sometimes about TNA they give you this match that is sure to be over **** but then stop short of a classic with a dumb ending. Oh well, still one of the best X title matches they've had in a while. How about that crowd, though? Orlando deserves major props for their interactions and extra level of energy they gave the show as a whole. Best 5 chants from Turning Point: 5. Super Shredder, at Keven Nash 4. Please Don't Die, at Elix Skipper attempting the cage walk 3. This is Awesome, during the X title match 2. Best Match Ever, during the cage match 1. Lets Go Sabin-Lets Go Petey, duleing during the X title match.

Fun show, had its disappointments but overall was good and better than Victory Road. The opening package was fun with the KOW dressing like Elvis and I marked out for The Flying Elvis song playing. Savage was actually coherent too and put over Styles and Hardy as the future of wrestling. The Vince/HHH impersonators were funny but it got kind of old. I laughed at Vince telling Sabin he's fired for violating the dress code and HHH smashing things with his sledgehammer. As for the WWE footage, it obviously was nothing much, especially with the blurs but you could tell Eddie and Rey were there, but it made Tenay's point that WWE is thretening to sue over nothing validity. I did laugh at Truth taking from the catering. Team Canada def. 3LK. **1/4 Solid but unspectacular opening tag match. Nice to see Devine back, the finish wasn't great with the predictable flag shot, but that's kind of their gimmick. Garza/Dutt/Siaki def. Kash/Shane/Kazarian. *** This was a very good X division tag match. Dutt sold his arm well and I liked the slow burn to the hot tag and the heels blatantly cheating and not tagging. Garza's moonsault and tornito (sp?) were both beautiful. Monty Brown def. Abyss. **1/2 Solid big man brawling match up. The spot where Abyss catches the Black Hole slam out of the pounce, and the spot where Brown headbutted the table were good. Thumbtack slam was akward in that Abyss landed on his head. OUCH. Johnny B Badd/Pat Kenney def. NYC (Jaqueline ref.). * Filler match on the show. I wasn't paying much attention really. DDP def. Raven. **1/2 I was impressed with DDP here. He was working really hard and looked good. Far better than any of his WWE matches. I didn't get how it kind of turned into a no disqualification match halfway through though. The ending was really convoluted, and as I predicted Watts interfered to lead to the rematch, yet DDP still hit his superman comeback and won with the diamond cutter. I don't get this one. Petey Williams def. Chris Sabin. ***3/4 loved everything about this but the ending. This one screamed for a clean finish as the knuckle shot was just so out of place and anticlimatic. Otherwise it was given almost 20 minutes, the crowd was RED HOT (the dueling "Let's Go Sabin" "Let's Go Petey" chants added unreal layers to the match). It was just a solidly worked X match that got hotter and hotter until the bad finish. Savage/Styles/Hardy def. KOW. **3/4 This one was pretty decent and if Savage had done more it would have been rated higher. Hall and Nash (despite their goofy elvis outfits) seemed to be taking their jobs seriously and were working hard to hold up their end of the match. Styles especially came out looking good. Jarrett per usual worked well with him. Savage was obviously a major bomb. I disagreed with keeping out until the very end but once he arrived I saw why. He looked rail thin, and really old. The guy couldn't do anything and didnt even try his famous elbow. Its sad to seem him such a shell of himself. Otherwise, a solid, yet anti-climatic match. Good thing it wasn't the main event. AMW def. XXX. ****1/2 Best TNA match in a LONG time and one of the greatest cage matches I've ever seen. Better than the first one these guys had. It was all action packed, full of emotion and lots and lots of blood (Daniels gusher was sick!). The Primetime spot where he did his cagewalk into a hurrincanrana was absolutely one of the most insane spots I have ever seen in a wrestling match. The fans were chanting "Please Don't Die" the whole time he was going for it and I was holding my breath. Absolutely spectacular. Daniels super elbowdrop looked real good too. The spots with the handcuffs were smartly done and AMW winning with XXX's move after XXX tried AMW's move was a fitting end. A must see match and can be argued it saved the show (I'd say it just elevated it from decent just like Victory Road to a good show). Interesting again that those who actually ordered the show enjoyed it, and its just those that didn't order it and just read the results that say it sucked. To improve next time, they just need to provide more clean finishes and focus on stars who can actually wrestle. Otherwise 2 excellent matches and eveything else was decent, and Savage was like a curiosity trainwreck to watch. Thumbs Up for Turning Point.

    Tna Turning Point Thread

I will be ordering tonight and I encourage everyone else to as well. The cage match, X title and X 6 man all have potential to be VERY good, while the main event 6 man, DDP/Raven and Brown/Abyss all have potential to be good and entertaining matches. If you want to support TNA and see an alternative to what WWE is putting out take a chance and order the show. Victory Road was a pleasent suprise for anyone who ordered as amongst those that ordered the show, very few were disappointed. The show is $29.95 as was Victory Road. The buyrate for Victory Road came in at 30,000-40,000 which is much higher than expected. I expect about 25,000 for Turning Point. For the poster who asked, Sonny Siaki actually is a former X Division champion. It is not about weight limits but style. I agree though he is not the protoype for an X division star, though. Feel the Madness, Order the show!
  18. Kid Kash, Michael Shane, and Kazarian vs. Hector Garza, Sonjay Dutt and Sonny Siaki Prediction: Dutt pins Kash. This should be a good, fast paced X-division style matchup. Dutt gets his revenge of Kash for the coconut shot at Victory Road. Raven vs. Diamond Dallas Page Prediction: Raven I think this feud keeps going. I mean it's really just gotten started, they're being so engimatic with the background, Erik Watts appeared for the teaser on Impact!, plus DDP has consistently gotten the advantage on Raven in the leadup. Raven wins through some sort of weird happenings, leading to the rematch in January. Serengeti Survival Match: Abyss vs. Monty Brown Prediction: Monty Brown Serengheti Survival for those who keep asking is pin, submission or slam on thumbtacks to win rules. Brown wins in dominating fashion after a POUNCEEEEEEEE~! onto the thumbtacks. 6 Sides of Steel Match: America's Most Wanted vs. Triple X Prediction: AMW I was tempted to go with XXX (and wouldn't be shocked if they win) as there are reports that Storm and Harris aren't getting along and that TNA might want to split them up anyway, but even if they win they could still breakup down the road. Daniels needs to be utilised as a singles. This should be match of the night honors, as long as Elix doesn't suffer another concussion! They're all out to prove themselves after last month's disaster, so expect all the stops to be pulled out. TNA does cage matches right. TNA X-Division Championship: Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin Prediction: Petey Williams Sabin has countered the Canadian Destoryer 3 weeks in a row, I think he will again at the PPV, only for Petey to counter the Cradle Shock. Should be an excellent match if given the time it deserves (which I think it will being that they've cut down from 9 to 7 matches this month). NWA Tag-Team Championship: 3 Live Kru vs. Team Canada Prediction: 3LK 3 Live Krew are still the most popular team with the fans and deserve to keep the belts. I don't expect much from the match but the crowd should be into it. Randy Savage, AJ Styles, and Jeff Hardy vs. The Kings of Wrestling Prediction: Savage pins Jarrett I actually have high hopes for this match and think it will be a fun 6 man tag that will play to everyone's strengths without exposing anybody. I can see it being rated about ***. Savage will hit the big elbow for theclimax and set up a one on one with Jarrett. Styles looks strong against Hall but who knows what Nash will do. I will be ordering tonight (luckily Im home so I can watch live rather than waiting for the tape to come to school) and I encrouage everyone else to order as well to support TNA and to see an alternative to WWE. Their buyrates for Victory Road were higher than expected, between 30,000-40,000 buys (most predicted under 20). I wouldn't be suprised to see it go down this month but I dont think it will be by that much as a Torch poll indicated that those who ordered Victory Road liked what they saw and will likely order Turning Point by a large margin (those who were disappointed in the show were mostly those who didnt order anyway). I'll say about 25,000 buys for Turning Point. Feel the madness and order the show!

    Now that MikeSC is gone...

I don't know if anyone can fill MikeSC's combination of regular postings and stubborness to the point of entertainment in his rebuttles. Anyway, as for Bush's scandal? I don't know, maybe OBL's is found in his guest room or something...

I guess the Current Events folder is dead. Great, I hope you're all happy. Anyway because of my laptop being out of service for like a month, I haven't been keeping up much, what is this confrontation everyone keeps referring to in CE that casued Mike to leave?
  22. Well even though my bank account is getting scary low, the Holidays are coming up plus I should be back at my job for Winter Break in a couple weeks, so I went ahead and took advantage of the deal. I already had the first 12 ROH shows (the 2002 shows) from a couple people but decided as long as they had a sale, I'd go ahead and buy the next few from the official store for 12 dollars a pop ($15-20% discount). I got: Revenge on the Prophecy- West Mifflin, PA 1/11/03 (DVD) One Year Anniversary Show- Queens, NY 2/8/03 (2 Tape Set)-on VHS since they were sold out on DVD! Expect the Unexpected- Cambridge, MA 3/15/03 (DVD) Night of the Champions- Philadelphia, PA 3/22/03 (DVD) A little under 60 bucks which is pretty good, especially for a product who's first year I've just gotten done watching and am anxious to see where they go from there (and from what I've read it gets really good).
