    Ground Zero word count thread~!

I seriously don't know what's happened to make me so productive, but I'm at 12.4k with a run to the finish and post-match still to do. I think I've got 'Rando's disease' in parts though, so an edit might shorten it up. Still, I'm on course for 15k. Madness.

Request: History of the USJL Championship

Little (pointless) note. The USJL Championship is represented as one belt (the object that is) now, and was one belt during Sacred's reign, Stryke's reign and Coy's two reigns. When Maddix won it, it was called the "USJL Triple Crown" because in storyline, after the Junior Leauge went under, Maddix was given the JL European and World Title belts as 'keepsakes'. He carried around all three belts, and will do if I ever win it again. Right now, the JL European and JL World Title belts are probably in Maddix's basement or something. So Riley might still say that by right, Maddix still owns two thirds of the championship even though in SWF terms it's total bull and pure ego filler for me.

The OAO Raw Thread - 7/26/04 - 60 Minute Iron Man

They had one hour to showcase as many of the roster as possible. Obviously, a battle royal was a better idea than two singles matches to do that. Plus the battle royal wins puts over Orton as the 'lucky' challenger and by-passes the Triple H/Orton arguements over who's the leader of Evolution. The Kane one was lazy booking, yes. This one actually had reasons for happening rather than 'hey, the battle royal worked last time, let's do it again'.

The OAO Raw Thread - 7/26/04 - 60 Minute Iron Man

Eh. Probably wouldn't be as common though as the Benoit one. Then again, that'll rub off on whoever beats him. Which'll probably mean everyone calling Orton 'Triple H Junior' by the time Summerslam is over. Jeez, was I always this bitter?

The OAO Raw Thread - 7/26/04 - 60 Minute Iron Man

RRR...do you think the average fan even thinks about half the stuff you're talking about? I've never heard a non smark fan say 'Benoit sucks because he's never beaten Triple H in a one-one one match without any form of interference'. It's just another example of reading too much into everything, just because Benoit is the one involved. I had a full rant planned because this constant 'nothing is ever good enough' philosophy and the same old 'if you're satisfied by Benoit's reign then you're obviously too easily pleased' counter arguement in EVERY Raw thread are quite frankly getting on my tits, but it's not worth it seems because none of the pro-Benoit crew will ever be satisifed. Fact is though, if it were someone over than Benoit in this position, the complaints would be a fraction of what they are now, simply because all the 'smarks' complaining are total marks for Benoit.

    PSP or Nintendo DS

I'll probably give them both a miss, as they'll only bring out a new one in a couple of years anyway. Saying that, the DS is better value and the PSP looks pretty sharp graphics wise.

UK shops pull Manhunt off the shelves

I feel sorry for the victim's mother and all, but she's picking blame with the wrong thing. The guy who commited the murder was obviously a nutcase, yet the blame for him being a nutcase is being put on the games because it's the easy thing to do. Games don't make normal people mad. The killer was obviously on the edge, but banning a game just so people like this don't snap is ridiculous. If it wasn't Manhunt, it would have been a movie or 'Marilyn Manson'. The killer's parents should be blamed for giving the kid the game in the first place, and obviously for not realising he was a nutjob. Then again, us Brits love a good reason to discuss things ad-nauseum so this'll no doubt run for months and probably screw up the new GTA game.

    Ground Zero word count thread~!

Once you get in a flow then words can come fast...for the veterans. Still takes me hours to get anything noteworthy done though myself. Then again, I'm incredibly fussy so, meh. Saying that, it's 5.5k for me, and the way things are going I'm heading for a 15k match at least.

    Piper wants back in

What is there for Piper to do though? Aside from reprising his manager role, I can't see anything. Piper's Pit should be dead and buried. Putting him alongside Matthews for Velocity would be an improvement on DeMott, but only just. Interviewer is below him. GM...eh.

    SmackDown! *SPOILERS* 07-29-04

Are you seriously saying the Mania match was serious? As serious as it SHOULD have been. You have Eddie and Angle, who apparantly hate each other...and they arrive at Wrestlemania, and suddenly they're having a technical wrestling match? Watch the match over. Does Eddie show any signs of being angry at Angle? Does he show signs of wanting to destroy Angle for the stuff he'd done to him. No. He dances. He prances. And we get a shitty 'comedy' ending that again makes both men look stupid. Lack of seriousness was what made the crowd sleep during the Angle/Eddie match. If they'd have gone out and looked to exact revenge on each other as they'd been doing the past few weeks, the crowd would likely have been red hot. As it was, they weren't. Same thing happened with Eddie/Chavo at the Rumble. The dancing, Lie Cheat and Steal Eddie DOESN'T WORK in big match, feud ending situations.
  16. King Cucaracha

    Most Underrated Match Ever

Dunno about most underrated ever because there's probably a whole load. But I agree that it's a really awesome match. Trouble is, it's forgotten by many because there was no real build-up to or follow-up from it. And there was the token post-match Santa appearance of course.
  17. King Cucaracha

    WWE Raw V.S. Smackdown!

All I ask is that they put in some moves in Cage Matches that involve the cage. When they're against the ropes, then you should have four moves like you do against a ladder/HIAC. Stuff like a battering ram into the cage. Right now, the cage is there for climbing and nothing else. And it sucks. Harder Rumble eliminations would be great too...something similar to those in LOW maybe.

    SmackDown! *SPOILERS* 07-29-04

Segment and character-wise, Bradshaw has impressed me recently. Hell, I loved the Bradshaw/Taker confrontation last-week. Simple, to the point and effective. And pretty funny. In ring though, Bradshaw still needs a work-horse like Eddie to put on good matches and he's still not credible enough for the big belt yet.

HAY BROCK SINGED FOUR TEH VIYKINGS

...so how long's his contract? I would have asked in the threads about it, but someone went on a power trip and deleted them all.
  20. King Cucaracha

    SmackDown! *SPOILERS* 07-29-04

You know, AS is right on this. Having a comedy segment at this point in the feud smacks of lazy booking. Someone said it's 'playing to people strengths'. Eddie's strength isn't really comedy. Eddie's strength is making people give a shit about what's going on in his matches and feuds, through comedy or other means. He and Angle have proven themselves to be excellent 'serious' wrestlers. Everything up until the Mania match was the right direction, because it actually seemed like Angle hated Eddie with a passion, and that Eddie hated Angle with a passion. Seriously. Kurt Angle costs Eddie Guerrero the WWE Title. Good start. Angle gets punished for it and Eddie, instead of tearing Angle apart dances with Vinnie Mac. And then, rather than tear him apart the next week, he steals his stuff and pretends to sell it so that Angle will come out...but when he does, the pay-off is Angle getting powder in his eyes from a gimmicked car!?! It makes Angle look ridiculous and believe it or not, that stopped working in 2001. It makes Eddie look weak for not destroying Angle or even showing signs of wanting to hurt him. And it makes what should be the biggest feud on Smackdown look like just another 2000 midcard comedy feud. CC, Bradshaw is technically on Smackdown with that video package. They need him on the show in person though obviously, because his whiney heel persona worked well with Taker last week.
  21. King Cucaracha

    The New Team Angle

If it's another Team Angle, surely they'd need All Americans who focus on technical wrestling, as Haas and Benjamin were. After all, wasn't that the point. That Angle had young people like him to lead towards the future. Right now, I doubt OVW has anyone like that. Conway and Dinsmore might have passable for it, but still not perfect. And I'm not up on OVW right now so I don't know if there's anyone good enough technically to fit in. Luther I guess has to be in because his Angle's buddy. Noble would fit. RVD wouldn't. RVD doesn't need to follow Angle's lead or learn from him. And he's sure as hell not a technical wrestler. If they find a decent couple of youngsters to fill the Shelton/Haas boots, then it might work. Otherwise it's just another thrown together stable.

    SWF GROUND ZERO CARD!

I think I speak for everyone when I say let's hope this leaves a better taste in the CC's mouth than last year's GZ, otherwise we're all dead. And on that subject, here's hoping I actually show with a competitive match this month. EDIT: Stats have undergone their weekly modification. Take note Johnny boy.

    Ground Zero Predictions~!

MAIN EVENT TRIPLE THREAT, WORLD TITLE BOUT, TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS Janus© vs "The Superior One" Tom Flesher© vs Toxxic It's a tough call, but I say Toxxic writes his ass off like never before and wins. TAG TEAM MATCH TAG TEAM TITLE BOUT 42nd Street© vs Andrea Montgomery & The Birdman I'm betting against Supes? Yeah. VERY close, but I say Birdman and Andrea nick it, leading to some Cortez/MVS/TMM madness for Genesis. TRIPLE THREAT NUMBER ONE CONTENDER BOUT; SUBMISSIONS MATCH Jamie Drazon vs Ace Lezaire vs Dace Night Another close call, but it's Dace's to win. SINGLES MATCH ICTV TITLE BOUT Johnny Dangerous© vs Landon "La Cucaracha" Maddix NP, obviously. SINGLES MATCH USJL TITLE BOUT Manson© vs "The Icon" Max King I'd have never believed it a few months ago, but Manson is a credible champion. No offense Mans. Title retainment here. HARDCORE MATCH HARDCORE TITLE BOUT Martin "Big Country" Hunt© vs Sean Davis Flip of the coin says Hunt. SINGLES MATCH Ced Ordonez vs Munich Ced. SINGLES MATCH ??? vs Candace Oh, come on. The ??? is always awesome, and after that promo on Smarkdown it's probably going to be someone uber awesome. Chalk up a vote for it being Judge anyway, as I predict each month. MALL BRAWL V Austin Sly vs "The Corona" Vladimir Everheart vs Edward James vs Petey the Irish Penguin vs Ryan Dustin vs ??? Tempted to go ??? again, but Sly is good enough to win as long as he's wacky enough.

    Raw Drinking Game

Take a shot everytime Jericho does that annoying growly voice 'BABAAAY' during a Highlight Reel. A shot everytime one of the roster insults one of the Diva chicks. A shot everytime Batista or Orton gets a chant or pop. A shot everytime Lawler mentions Regal or Benoit crying. A shot everytime Lawler says a match 'may very well be the best match I've ever seen', like he did during Edge/Orton last week. A shot everytime JR insults himself. A shot when Tomko botches a move. A shot everytime Lita shows up...just because. A shot everytime JR says 'I respect freedom of expression, but that boy can't sing a lick' during a Sylvain Grenier appearance. Two shots for a U.S.A chant during a match where the face isn't American.
