Meaningless mat wrestling
King Cucaracha replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in The WWE Folder
The chain wrestling at the beginning of the match is fine when it's Angle, what with him being 'Mr Olympic'. You can sell it as Angle trying to show up his opponent. I agree with mat wrestling, rest holds and working over body parts needs to be sold better. But a big part of that lies in the commentators corner. If Angle works over the ribs and Eddie misses a frog splash, you're hoping Cole or Tazz picks up on it. Usually the SD commentators are decent enough on that area. It's JR and King that worry me, because even when they call matches instead of talking about Stone Cold BAH GAWD Austin or puppies and granny panties, they don't pick up on the little things in matches that when mentioned make matches better in hindsight. -
Does the WWE have any access to Japan footage? Probably just the limited amounts WCW had in their library. And here's hoping they have Liger/Benoit from Starrcade 95 and the Raw 10 Man Tag on the DVD as well as the obvious matches. Knowing our luck they'll replace that with RVD/Benoit from Summerslam 02 or some shit.
-
You really think Eddie versus Angle is over AS? I seriously doubt it after the ending. I'd say this'll drag on until May's PPV.
-
When looking back at previous storylines, his being buried alive was the reason he changed from "The Deadman" to the "Ministry" 'Taker. It would make perfectly logical sense if he "died" again for him to come back as something Darker than BadAss with a coat One problem...it's not 1999, and Russo doesn't have the book. You don't change your whole personality and suddenly forget it again and revert back to 5 years ago. And he is more than BadAss with a Coat. Re-watch the match. He starts out as the Taker he was before the burial, but it's spliced with old school Taker mannerisms and moves. It's a less in-your-face change...and it's smart, because they haven't just said 'forget the last 3 years, we'll bring back a gimmick from 1990.' HybridTaker is, in kayfabe, more versatile than MMATaker or DeadmanTaker.
-
Was he positive about anything? Seriously...it wasn't that bad of a review, but I'd probably have been more likely to have given a shit about it if he bothered to do some research.
-
If that's indeed true...then Fuck Lesnar. Whatever shit went down, there's no reason to undermine the sport that gave him his big break in that way.
-
When was this? I do not remember it at all. Lol, I meant cartwheel. Why I said moonsault I don't know...
-
What the betting she'll be wearing a wig on Raw, like Angle after he lost his hair.
-
The only part I remember is the end, where Torrie held Jackie in the pin position so the front row pervs could get their cameras out. Other than that it was totally forgettable, but almost innofensively short. That's all I can really say. Except Stacy does a nice moonsault. EDIT: Yes, I should have said cartwheel. So easy to get the two mixed up...

It's not just that he left. It's the way he left. Goldberg is leaving too but he didn't get the "you sold out" chants. Like I said last night, best crowd ever. Yeah, but the You Sold Out chant is usually for guys you don't want to leave and who are going somewhere bigger (Taz, Dudleyz). Nobody cares that Goldberg's leaving because he hasn't been on Raw in the past month or so. What are you using while reading this buddy? A computer. What site's forums are you on? TSM. The SMARTMarks. Was your post 'clever and witty'. No...you'e trying to be 'better than me'. Ladies and gentlemen...I present the definition of the pot calling the kettle black. I know it was a natural reaction dumbass. But it's New York City. Forgive me if I'm wrong...but ECW had a strong following there, so their reaction may just be ECW influenced. I saw influenced, because they thought it was clever to use the chant while not thinking about what they were saying and why they used it. 'Get out and experience it once in a while.' Buy me plane tickets to America and I'll gladly do so. Until then kindly try not to flame bait people. Thank you.
-
Ah yeah, that. To answer your question then...yes, I was offended by that. The crowd killed the enjoyment of that match for me personally.
-
Ultimo slipped on that big glass floor they had on the entrance, not his cape. And the fact the two guys fighting were dressed as Savage and Hogan is classic.
-
When? If you mean last night, the boos were very sparse except when he broke up the Flair strut. If you mean last year like I think you mean...Rock got respect after the match. Lesnar didn't. Brock/GBerg's match sucked, yes. But the crowd shat on it before it even started, so that's a mute point.
-
I'm not saying he deserved a hero's exit. But at the same time, I am saying one of the biggest smiles I had all night was when he flipped off the crowd. That says a lot. I'm also taking exception to the use of 'smart' crowd. 'Attemped smart' would be better. If they were 'smart', they'd have stuck to the 'NAH NAH NAH NAH...HEY HEY...GOODBYE' and realised he hasn't sold out. Plus if they were smart, they'd realise Lesnar had a point. Wouldn't you quit if you were the World Champ and Hardcore Holly's bitch at the same time?
-
That would be defined as "Grounds for a Law Suit" The point is Vince knows that. He wouldn't be stupid enough to force a woman employee to shave her head. If Molly didn't want to go through with this she wouldn't. Simple as that. The fact people are up in arms over this as if she's being forced into this is pretty misguided when you think about it, because in the end she would have to have the final say on whever to do this or not. And hey, it's only hair...if she went through with it, I see no reason to be appalled over it because it was her decision. If anything it should get her over for the probable re-match.
-
To be honest, when I heard the chants I stopped watching, because it was clear the fans would shit over the match regardless of what happened. As I said in the OAO thread, it would have been nice if at the end Lesnar got a bit of respect. He has carried Smackdown for the most part of the last year, and been entertaining for most of his time in the company. Plus I was holding out hope he'd be back in the future. Now? Well, the crowd shat on him...he lost to Goldberg, who kicked out of the F-5...and Austin stunned him. I wouldn't blame him if he never came back now. And as for the 'smart crowd'. Well...that's taking it a bit far. 'You Sold Out'? To who? He hasn't signed a contract yet, so he hasn't 'sold out'. 'Lesnar Sucks'. He sure didn't suck when he was having good to great matches with people for the last year. Smart crowd? Yeah...they sure jeered Hogan, Austin and Rock who all left the company in the lurch. They sure jeered Austin when he put himself over everyone with ease. Face it, they were trying to be like your typical ECW crowd. Unfortunately, they failed. Miserably. But hey, as long as they're jeering Goldberg they 'must' be smart.
-
Is it bad that I was in a fit of laughter when Ultimo slipped? Seriously, I was looking at that glass all night thinking 'someone's gonna slip on that for sure'. The worst part was, Dragon had just about got some dignity back, and then he stumbled on the ropes too. Funaki lasted five seconds? It was less than that surely. And Akio not getting in the match pissed me off badly.
-
Doesn't anyone 'get it'. Not reverting back to Old School Taker is a good thing, because it'd be illogical. After 4 years of being 'normal', he suddenly does the whole routine again just because he spent a month in a coffin (which is pretty extreme I guess, but still.) The fact he's a mix of Deadman and BikerTaker is more realistic, which in the long run is good because it means less of these 'supernatural happenings' which need to stay back in 1994. And if you re-watch the match, it plays out perfectly. Taker wrestles just like he did before Survivor Series, which is the natural thing to do. He also feels pain and sells. Then, he gets hit with a finisher...and BAM, Deadman Taker kicks in, and he goes through the short routine. I for one am digging HybridTaker.

I agree. Not really worth crying tears over. I was surprised I got so into wanting Trips to tap, because going in I wasn't that bothered wheter Benoit won or not. But at the end I was yelling for a Tap Out too. And, yeah, like Murmuring Beast I got a little teary eyed at Heenan's Monsoon comment...his pop was one of the best ones on the show which was fantastic.

King Cucaracha replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in The WWE Folder
1. World Title (Raw) Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels vs. HHH © Who Should Win: Well...Benoit obviously. Who Will Win: Benoit. I'm optimistic on this one. 2. WWE Title (Smackdown) Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero © Who Should Win: Eddie Who Will Win: Eddie 3. Handicap Match : Mick Foley/Rock vs. Ric Flair/Batista/Randy Orton Who Should Win: Evolution. Only way Orton will advance on in his career. Who Will Win: Rock/Sock. I guess over Flair, allowing him to be turned upon by Orton. 4. Kane vs. Undertaker Who Should Win: Either. Taker for a return win, but a Kane win would be a major boost to his career. Who Will Win: Undertaker. Kane stands no chance. 5. Fatal Four way for the WWE tag titles (Smackdown) – APA vs. WGTT (Haas/Benjamin) vs. Basham Brothers vs. Rikishi/Scotty 2 Hotty © Who Should Win: TWGTT Who Will Win: 2 Cool to retain. 6. Fatal Four was for the World Tag Titles (Raw) – Dudleys vs. Lance Cade/Mark Jindrak vs. La Resitance vs. Rob Van Dam/Booker T © Who Should Win: Rob Van Dam/Booker T Who Will Win: Cade 'n Jindrak... 7. Hair vs. Title – Molly Holly vs. Victoria © Who Should Win: Molly Holly Who Will Win: Victoria. You really think they won't go through with bald Molly? 8. Cruiserweight Open – Billy Kidman, Rey Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, Tajiri, Jamie Knoble, Sho Funaki, Nunzio, Shannon Moore, Akio, and Chavito Guerrero © Who Should Win: Chavito. Who Will Win: Kinda a toss-up between Chavo and Mysterio. Probably Mysterio. 9. Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar Who Should Win: ???. Neither really Who Will Win: Austin. Nuff said. 10. Playboy Evening Gown Match - Sable/Torrie vs. Miss Jackie/Stacy Who Should Win: Why should I care. Probably the Raw duo. Who Will Win: Stacy/Jackie. No-one watching though. 11. US Championship – John Cena vs. Big Show © Who Should Win: Cena Who Will Win: Cena 12. Christian vs. Chris Jericho Who Should Win: Christian. Who Will Win: Christian by Trish's turn. -
Personally, Chavo Snr. over Kanyon. Plus, it's not hard to find something to do with Chavo Snr. when his son and brother work for the company. Kanyon was already dead in the water after the Taker incident(s).

SWF Lockdown! Card - March 17, 2004
King Cucaracha replied to HVilleThugg's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
Now that's one hell of a move. Who is that in the clip using it though? -
How will they explain Goldberg leaving RAW?
King Cucaracha replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in The WWE Folder
Austin ran him off. And Brock too. You know it's gonna happen. -
Plus he can still wrestle if needed. Chavo Snr's done more to put Chavito over in the past month than near enough anybody...the Eddie angle only really got itneresting when he came along, and now he's adding that extra element to Chavito that he needs. Here's hoping he gets/is soon on a permanant deal.
