The United States Military
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to theintensifier's topic in Current Events
The stats regarding the death toll of Iraqis is perhaps more unsettling in my opinion. That never gets a lot of mention when talking about the war itself. The Armed Forces obviously is a well oiled machine, America wouldn't be where it is if they weren't. -
I agree with Dylan. For Superstar, why is a strong political message a bad thing?
-
So it said Serkis played King Kong. What did he do exactly?

Leo, Drew, I don't know if that's a movie reference or your real names. Anyways, 2005 was kickass. Hopefully 2006 keeps it up.

Oh shit~!

I PMed Tom, but I'm assuming he has a life and actually spends Christmas with family/friends, like myself, so it's understandable why I didn't get one back yet. Now if I don't get one at all, clearly they aren't interested in anything MMA-related on the front page, which I guess is their deal, which is fine of course. I'd just like to write, I just feel like I would do a good job and would enjoy it.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Another point, is that the crowd made the match seem worse than it was. If Arona/Silva happened in the UFC, most would be pegging it as the worst fight of the year, or at least a contender. There was lots of staring on the feet, one good low kick, than lots of staring on the ground. The only part that was exciting other than the low kick was after the fight when Arona basically stared Wand down in his guard and made Wand whine. Of course, he then was hammerfisted to all hell but that's a different story. -

Good point about it not being fair, as people constantly harp on the UFC for releasing fighters after one bad loss. Both arguments are the same; one bad performance, whether for entertainment purposes or for win/loss reasons, are not fair excuses to drop a fighter. I hope to see Ivan back as well, it seems like bullshit to do it to him when he's a borderline top five guy. Although your criticisms of Fedor's entertaining RINGS battles are unfair since RINGS MMA is different. When you take away his favourite weapon, the GnP, it takes away from what makes most of his matches entertaining. That just showed his impact in PRIDE was more devastating since he essentially made a name for himself doing something that no one had really seen from him before. -
I don't know who this is referring to. Probably Czech. Kanye West is one of the better rappers out there. I can't think of many better. I don't know, I just dig the guy.

DEY TUK UR JOB! -
Chalk me up as one of the people that really liked it, but I haven't seen the original. Of course, anyone who goes in thinking the movie is bad because it missed out on whatever happened in the original doesn't know what they're talking about. In any artform, whether it's a movie or music, a remake/cover is best when the newer version adds something to it or puts its own spin on things. No one wants to see a duplicate. Well, except for the type of people I was referring to I guess. I didn't think the pacing was hurt by any of the chase scenes, the movie whizzed by to me and I normally don't have a very good attention span during a long movie. I disliked the LOTR movies for pretty much that reason. I just felt that all the scenes added something to the movie, one aspect or another, and I didn't think anything was detrimental in that sense. In fact, the only things I thought were kinda lame were the love relationship between Driscoll and Darrow, as it didn't really get developed properly and happened out of nowhere. Sort of just threw that out there. Also, the Kid/ship mate relationship was pretty cheesy, since it was just a bunch of cliched dialogue and I didn't really feel any sympathy when that ended the way it did, mainly because the movie failed to really get it out of me. Since these two things are vastly outweighed by the positive aspects of the film, I have to say that I still rate it highly.

The UFC actually wanted Mayhem and tried to sign him agian, but he turned them down for the chance to be the big dog at MW over with ICON or whatever it's called. The MW division was so stacked earlier this year, now with Ivan, Lindland and Riggs out of it it's lost a lot of its lustre. -
Yeah, that's pretty homo. The music is the same but based on some arbitrary information about where the members of the band are from, you should dislike them. That's sooooo tenth grade. I don't really feel guilty over any songs I like.
-
I also disagree with Edwin over Hollaback being more fitted towards Luda. Cee-Lo perhaps, definitely Ludacris though. I can't imagine him making anything good out of the song. A female vocalist would be preferrable, which is why I'm glad the song went to Gwen.

Sounds like someone already watched the latest Fromage edition! Y2Jerk, aren't you a high school teacher? I never met a high school teacher without a shitty taste in music, so I'm gonna assume the same for you.

People don't understand how precious a draft pick is to these GM's. To think that you'd have to give up TWO first rounders for JP LOSMAN is insanity. I would be surprised if at this point, given the nature of his play this year, that they could get ONE second rounder. No way would they get a QB with even more potential who hasn't shown himself to be a complete fuckup, AND another first rounder. If LeeLee could pull that off, she should take over for Donahoe right now. Considering that he deserves to be fired after the season, she might have her chance.
-
Heh, you honestly think people would be willing to give up Leinart AND a 1st round pick for JP Losman?
-
OG is truly OG. 1965? Damn dude.

Cartman looks worse on here than Dungy's son does on myspace. I guess we should all be rooting for his death too since an internet persona is more than enough info to judge someone with. He probably did mean to come across that callous Niskie, which makes him even more pathetic. TCR was spot-on with what he said. I feel really bad for the family, everytime ESPN or whomever has done any stories on him they always go on about his family and they always appeared to be tight knit. It's shocking to hear something like this happen out of the blue. I can't imagine what Tony Dungy is going through right now.

Snuffbox shouldn't tell someone to leave joke-making to others who are funny than make some lame joke about John Ashcroft speeches. He should take his own advice. This skit was great. It's just nerdy white guys trying to rap, with a bunch of different things about it that people find funny. No need to hate on it so much. Chris Parnell is one of my favourites on the show, though I don't watch it regularly enough to know who the other guy was. -
Why does "Hollaback Girl" get so much hate? That song has a wicked backing track. Great hook. Santa Monica is a pretty bad one, though I don't know how big Theory of a Deadman is in the US.

I'd volunteer my services for MMA (P)reviews of the big two, PRIDE and the UFC. Of course I know of some others on here who would be interested in writing it too. If it's a possible topic for the main site, you definitely would be able to find people interested in writing about it.

Justice Gomery was the Canadian version of the magazine's person of the year. At least that makes sense given the criteria.

Well it's true, Fabio's advice off of one's back doesn't consist of the awesome strategy of "HOLD HIM TILL THE REF STANDS YOU BACK UP!" Also, he has never taught us the art of retard strength.
