He jumped on during the Trigg match, as he was legit surprised that GSP was able to manhandle someone supposed to be so highly ranked. Saying Miller was light years better on the ground was the peak of his GSP hate though. Fabio Holanda>Marc Laimon

Source As for his replacement...YOU KNOW~!!!11 This is a step up. I'm not nearly as disappointed here as I was when I found out that Quadros left.

A rumour was that Lindland is a possible choice. -

Wand's guard is not nearly as highly utilized as Chuck's wrestling, thereby leading me to believe that Chuck is more well rounded. -

Chuck doesn't really have a purple belt. Wanderlei Silva is probably less well-rounded. At least Chuck can wrestle. Wand can strike and not do much else. His guard game is shit, but he is good at holding people tight, ala Anderson Silva. I still can't believe Rampage beat him. The only excuses are that the first time he went through a much tougher fight, the second time he didn't eat for three days and had no training partners. On paper, he should be able to beat him. -

Imagine if he came to the ring with Color Me BAAAAAAAAADD music? That would be pretty cool. Oh man, remember how good the UFC HW division was before? Ricco, Randy, Rizzo, Barnett being the mainstays, with new guys coming in like TK or Pete Williams or Frank Mir. In hindsight obviously the sport has evolved past most of them, but for the most part that was a pretty sick division at the time. Now I would say its Arlovski in a class by himself, than Sylvia in a class by himself, than the rest. I don't know how to place Mir at this point. -
Hey guys, I was kidding. No one can relate to a guy that grabs electricity. I'm hoping he gets fed to Trigg or Sherk or something. That would be an epic beating.

Yeah if you wanna blame Millen for something, use the hundreds of other things he's screwed up. Geez, he's not even good with the PR aspect. Remember the whole "faggot" incident?

If Wand is not champ I'd like to see it happen. That's probably what would happen after NYE, unless he lights a fire under his ass and stops being afraid of the takedown. PRIDE still wouldn't let it happen though. The guy has been protected for years, other than his fights with Quinton of course. Think about all the great LHW that have been in PRIDE since he became champ, and think about how many of them he didn't fight. I would pick him to lose against either Randy or Chuck, Shogun or Arona, hell, Tito again. Can't forget about BABALOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I actually use BJJ to fight from the top. I never use wrestling on the ground, I just use wrestling to get the fight there and work from that. BJJ is good for positioning and control on top as well, it's just that since they don't teach you a lot about takedowns and the like, against a good wrestler you won't be able to get the top position. But if you have both you should be able to.

Chuck>HHH People actually want to see him "retire with this title". Sanchez won't be getting booed much longer, the guy is one of the bigger stars they have. People dig his gimmick I think. We can all relate to a guy that grabs electricity out of the air.

The only thing that comes to mind Is Sufjan. Picaresque ain't too shabby either. But I haven't bothered picking up much new stuff.

He semi-retired? Did he cite a reason? Has anyone read any MMA books, not instructionals but like actual non fictional stuff? How is BRawl, or that NHB Evolution one? I heard that's a good one, it was advertised on SD awhile back. I still say Ortiz is gonna come back with a mean streak. If he shows the kind of aggression against Forrest as he did against all those scrubs, he will be back. His problem is he folds against guys that stack up well against him. If he learns to be just as intense against guys that are talented as those that aren't, he should be successful again.

I've been trying to find a link to TEAM MFS, but that one doesn't work. Does Pat not believe in computers?

With Joe Doerksen's recent shortcomings and Leben's seemingly improved grappling ability, I would give the edge in a rematch to the Crippler.

We should bump this up and try to get a January one done, I figure it will be right after the NYE show, and before the next UFC. A lot of questions will be answered on that show, about the MW and LW divisions mainly. How about a deadline for January 7 (this can change)? Someone tallies it and those can be our rankings for the month. Thing is, we should decide if you want a small group of people doing it or if you want to include everyone. Don't worry, if it's a select group of people, it won't escalate to whatever the hell goes on in Puro folders that people complain about so often.

I think he means why did Lindland get kicked out before getting the shot. It seemed like bullshit, apparently at the weigh-ins he wore the t-shirt of a sponsor that the UFC doesn't like, and they kicked him out because of it. Sportsbook is apparently a UFC no-no when it comes to advertising. Conspiracy theorists might lead you to believe that this was because Dana wanted to protect Rich Franklin, who was gonna be a star on the basis of him being a coach on TUF. They might be right, but another good reason is that with the new TUF audience, Dana is trying to rid of the 'boring' fighters. I disagree, I actually like watching The Law fight, and I also think that he is always busy working for a finish, so it's not like it's his fault or something. I am also sure that he's finished like 80% of his fights. In a way though, I definitely don't think he should have gotten the shot before UFC 52, and the people clamouring for it or thought that he deserved one confused me. Did we all forget his last appearance in the UFC was when David Terrell Knocked him the fuck out? This fact also makes me wonder why Terrell is behind him in the rankings, when it's only been a year since then and it was a pretty convincing win. -
Can someone help me out with some old school vale tudo history? Like I'm talking pre-ufc stuff. Also, does anyone know of the exact time between when UFC went from SEG to Zuffa and what the circumstances were during this time? What was the height of the fighters' paychecks after the initial tournaments where it was winner take all and before Zuffa took over? Was it comparable to current salaries?

Rich Franklin - Very well rounded fighter, with really good striking as well as a solid ground game, though we haven't seen much of it. He has looked impressive against lesser opponents on the ground though, displaying a nice triangle on Curtis Stout. Decent wrestler but not that great, probably his weak point and how I feel he will get defeated... if he does. This term has been cheapened by its constant use, but if there is one guy who I feel qualifies to have a spartan work ethic, it is Rich Franklin. Also has the heart to go with it, as he has proven through his ability to get out of bad spots against tough fighters like Rivera and Tanner. Always an exciting fighter as he has never had a match go to a decision, and has only had one loss in all of that. In a middleweight division that is waiting for a dominant fighter, as most of them have skillsets that imply that anyone can get beaten on a given day, as opposed to the dominance of the big three in the WW division, or a guy like Fedor in the HW division. Depending on Loiseau's strategy, he will be tested against a decent wrestler with vicious ground and pound, if The Crow decides to take it there. I would have liked to have seen him fight Lindland, but I'm sure that fight will happen eventually and hopefully help him build on his legacy as champ, because he is catching a lot of flak, mainly from Lindland himself for ducking him. Until he faces guys tougher than Quarry, he'll be relegated to being another champ like Tanner or Menne that just fell by the wayside. -

That was one of the first events I saw, so I remember being impressed more than being analytical. I'm not gonna watch it again, that would be like telling me Santa Claus isn't real Of course that's not true. See? -

Oh I saw that one, and I was surprised he won, I'm still amazed that he managed to do it by beating Yvel, Nog and Babalu in one night. I don't think a mw has ever beaten three heavyweights of that calibre, let alone on one night. That's what made me a fan of Hendo pretty much. -

Big Nog or Little Nog? If Big Nog, was it in PRIDE? Or the one in RINGS? I might as well put it here, does RINGS really deserve to have the status of official MMA bouts, as there's not even any striking on the ground. What the hell do guys like Couture and Hendo do once it gets to the ground?
