MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

There's three possible fights that you could be referring to. -
Well I've also seen two different spellings, like kaoru and caol. A MAN MUST KNOW.
-
Unless he's fighting Kaoru Uno. Speaking of which, what's the right pronunciation of his name, and why do people have the wrong one?

Stay of execution denied for Stanley "Tookie" Williams

Well that may be true, but the ultimate truth behind the case came when you pointed out how it occured in Mississippi. -

No it doesn't, anyone could just come in at night and say that shit. Are you gonna risk getting shot in the face while waiting to see if it's actually a cop or not? -

Now THAT is bullshit. Are the conservatives torn between wanting to convict a cop killer and wanting to set a bad precedent for defending yourself at home against an intruder? -
The best option is jsut to use your grappling to outposition someone and beat the hell out of them on the ground, going for a submission seems futile. It's mostly about grappling positioning rather than a submission finish. Besides, once you get the submission, what are you going to do? Is the guy going to tap? Are you gonna shatter a limb/choke him out? Better to give the option of just ending a fight with strikes, rather than inflict permanent damage and risk the chance of doing something you'd regret, like going to jail or something. In a bar fight I doubt you'd get stabbed in the back, I don't know if he was joking or not. I mean unless the guy is with his friends. It's funny to me when people talk about fighting effectiveness on the streets, it's only with grappling that they assume there to be multiple opponents. If there were multiple opponents, I'd rather have grappling than striking, not because I plan on winning, but so I could use the grappling to be to handle myself when all the guys jump in for a beating and just survive by getting the hell out of there. Although I can't think of a situation when twenty people try to whoop my ass anyway.

Mixed Martial Arts in 2006

Edwards and Thompson and Franca and Pulver as well. Sherk walks around at 175, I think he can easily do it if he just stops lifting so many weights. If Arlovski leaves UFC like many think he might, they might as well just scrap that division and bring back the LW, I mean there's room for both, but scrapping the UFC's HW division is always a good idea. -

So did he die yeT? -
Takada was a pro wrestler turned fighter whose only wins are either against people who never really fought or were works. So you can see why it's really embarrassing to get dropped by him. When RIckson was asked why he didn't take on the top fighters of the time like Kerr or Erikson or Igor, he simply stated that he felt that Takada was most deserving of a match. This was AFTER he beat him the first time by the way. There's a reason why he never stepped up to Sakuraba. First season of TUF was definitely better than the second, as it had better drama and more interesting characters, though most of the fights on the second season were better. With the inclusion of Ortiz and Shammy in the third installment, I expect it to be the best. I'm one of the few Ortiz marks left, I really hope that he makes a comeback of sorts this year.

Why would he not want to? And why would the UFC beg him to do it? I guess they recognized that they had a potential star on their hands. -
I wonder if Pa De Pano will pull a Traven and totally freeze up while getting struck and just give up an arm? Probably not, if his last fight is any indication. We'll see for sure how well he made the adjustment from submission grappling to MMA in this fight. It's weird that a great BJJ guy will have an attitude like that. You'd think he'd remember getting humbled like crazy when he was coming up through the ranks.

Hollaback girl is a wicked song, I don't know what you guys are talking about.

Well if it's something you actually dedicate yourself to, it's pretty normal I'd say. If I have a bad day or don't do too well I always try to analyze what went wrong and how I can try to change that in the future, for instance what mistake I made to get tapped. I always found it weird for people to be obsessed about something when they have no stake in it whatsoever, like they don't play the sport at all. See most sports fans.

Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu jitsu under Eddie Bravo, which is pretty solid, once you get past blue odds are you are pretty dedicated (Order is white, then blue, then purple, then brown, then black). Apparently a lot of fighters that have rolled with him say he's very slick. Take that as you will.
-
Yeah armbars are great b/c most people tap nearly immediately before you even apply pressure. Well most of us noobs at least. Most of the time a minimal amount of pressure is enough, noob or not. There's a reason why top grapplers will tap just as fast as a noob would if they were facing another top grappler. Hoff do you speak of Joe Rogan Jitsu? Probably not, but he's actually quite good, and a challenge was made to Wesley Snipes for a UFC fight. If that happens, Rogan by prison shanking.

Compaired to some of the artists you praise, I doubt that. I don't get the appeal of Manson, he sounds like generic hard rock. I don't think there's enough praise to say he's overrated though. -
Just wait till you choke someone else out.

Heh, Randy is going through a mid-life crisis. Don't be surprised if he comes to the ring in a studded leather jacket and some AC/DC. -
I will be taking the bears in the spread as well. Their defense is really strong, while Pitts' offense has been sputtering as of late, mainly due to the lack of a solid running game. Big Ben can't win games by himself. The Bears are an NFC Championship calibre team, the Steelers won't even make the playoffs. This pick seems like a no brainer to me. I don't see the Jags beating the Colts without Leftwich. The Seahawks are probably the most realistic option. Then again, history has shown it to always be the team you least expect.

And why are the steelers 5.5 pt favourites? They've lost three in a row, while the Bears have won eight, am I missing something here?
