There's a difference between finding out ten days and three years after that Saddam and Al Queda were not linked together, but no need for me to state the obvious.

Dan Henderson was on the ultimate fighteR? I don't know why I'm not as stoked for the MW Title match as I should be, it's sad really. I really should be excited for it, but I'm not. Probably because of how the MW Title fight doesn't even have the best middleweight in the company. Henderson/Busta Gomi/Sakura Cro Cop/Hunt Fedor/Zulu Silva/Arona Ogawa/Yoshida Nak/Kondo Pretty much the same, except the first two are switched. I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed though, last time I was excited about Busta/Hendo it fell flat. Also, I it seems that was the fight that caused Busta to go on his slide, as in the Rampage match he was certainly still in his prime, taking on a top LHW while still a MW and almost winning. I don't really care that much about Nak vs. Kondo, I predict a lot of ground stalling in that one. Ogawa vs. Yoshida should be interesting, based on what I've seen in MMA Yoshida should kill him, but I think most of his fights have been worked to an extent, so it's hard for me to really say. Ogawa just sucks. Gomi/Sakurai should be amazing, Hendo/Busta might be but I'm not holding out hope, CroCop/Hunt will be interesting to see how it plays out given their K-1 background, Fedor/Zulu should be a fun slaughter, and the rest I'm "Meh" about.

I was actually gonna bring that up, but decided against it since BR4L essentially dropped the issue. There's a good one-sided fight and bad. Both Fedor Nog fights are cases of the former, and it is of my belief that this was a case of the latter. Funny you should bring up the same examples, though those are the two easiest to bring up. I wish I saved the picture of Frye I saw of him recently at a pro wrestling show. It's on sherdog, of which I'm not a member, if you just search for recent Don Frye threads, like within the last month or so, you should find it. It was sad, to say the least.

I still haven't seen that. That was one of the main fights I was looking forward to on UFC 32, and it was edited to a mere clip of Ricco getting up with his arms raised after the ref broke it up. How was that fight? Also, I doubt Ricco had the Takedown ability Monson has now, as well as the ground control from top, aka holding someone down.

But Kawajiri fought a shit fight. The equivalent of that would be if Mirko came out against Fedor and started throwing these loopy hooks that he's not known for. Kawajiri's shots were from halfway across the ring, and I don't know why, but he just seemed like a different fighter. Don't take this as me apologizing on his behalf, I'm not. His performance doesn't disappoint me as a fan of a fighter, it disappoints me as a fan of fighting. I wanted to see a technical, action packed battle, or at the very least something that had both fighters fighting to their potential. I just saw a one-sided Bonnar/Griffin without any of the significance. Hansen/Yves, Hansen/Sakurai, Hansen/Imanari if only for that KO, Hansen/Uno, Hansen Hansen Hansen...Damn, I see a trend here. Anyways, those LW fights were better. I once again put in my vote for Trigg/Hughes 2.

So is Monson's style not applicable for MMA? It seems to work for Arona, but Monson is much smaller than his opponents, whereas Arona doesn't have that problem.

Coach of the Year candidates I thought that this was pretty well written, and I agreed with most of it. I also feel that the rule about having to interview minorities is a joke, as it more or less seems like trying to fill a quota rather than looking for the best man. Overall I thought it was worth the read. It all seems like common sense, but as the season progresses expect to hear about this stuff from the media a lot more. I'm surprised it hasn't come up yet, though I might have missed.

I also have to say that I don't agree with the Ricco comments, as his fight with Monson certainly didn't have boring GnP, the one right before TK. His cartwheel guard passes were also pretty entertaining. You say BJ is known in BJJ for his positional skills (I saw the fight with Rodrigo, so I can see why), but Monson is the same way and everyone boos him. I think maybe it's American fans, as if you put those UFC fans to watch BJ in one of the tournaments, he'd get booed too. I know the ADCC fans are more intelligent, but still, I don't see a difference between top control here and top control there, so I don't know why they would boo him. Speaking of which, that takes away from enjoyment of fights sometime, like when they boo a five second lull in the salaverry fight, or something, it's really lame, especially considering how active they were in general.
