Solved weaknesses in his game and decimated the worst possible matchup for him, at a point when it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that a) He was "solved" and would never be a threat to beat a true champ at the top of the game and b) that Randy would make him look just as bad as the last time. KO of the year is probably Irvin/Martin, I can't think of anything else that tops it. Submission of the year would probably be what I saw from Yves against Mishima, if only because he's an actual contender with a groundgame. Thompson's submission at that one bushido was fairly slick as well. Most disappointing fight is definitely Marquardt/Salaverry, and I don't think anything else will top it either.

Shogun is hands down the fighter of the year. Went from relative noob, to beating four, FOUR top ten LHW in a row, mostly in dominating fashion. Fight of the year I am unsure, lots of good ones, nothing sticks out to me. Well actually, Trigg/Hughes II. Not a "traditional" choice, but for drama there is none better. Has anyone seen those MMA Korean comics? Those things are hilarious, I wish I had a translation. I honestly don't know whether or not it will succeed, but like most fans, I'm hoping for MMA to be pushed into the mainstream sport it deserves to be rather than a niche market. I think it's possible and the UFC could be a major league sport to the "minor leagues" like KOTC and WEC, but it will take awhile. Especially with Dana White in charge, the guy seems to take things way too personally and seems to make dumb moves sometimes, that might hurt business. Of course look where he's taken the UFC since obtaining it, so maybe my criticism is unwarranted.

Vince also covered up for someone who probably murdered his girlfriend, in addition to having a blind eye to all the rampant drug use in the company that killed the wrestlers earlier in their lives. One could argue about personal responsibility, but if he's pushing them to use it and offering ways for them to hide it and protect them from the law, I'd say he should shoulder some responsibility. Of course, instead of answering about his role in the situation he'd rather slap pint sized journalists around. Classy. The point is that they're both assholes, but other than him saying stupid things, I've never heard of the Warrior actually DOING something harmful. Vince on the other hand, has made an asshole of himself on many occasions and hasn't shown any signs of that changing.

Maybe you're talking about Ryan Gracie, who has been doing the stabbing and putting cops in the hospital. He is currently on the run. Word is that Lee's condition has improved, but with a guy that brags about being in hundreds of street fights and takes on large groups of men, something like this is bound to happen sooner or later. I'm surprised it took this long actually.

I think Arlovski would beat Cro Cop myself, and I even think he'd beat Noguiera from pillar to post. Fedor would be a different story of course. Fedor in a cage = the best gnp you will ever see. Arlovski vs. Fedor would be interesting in that I think he's really quick on the feet and can tag Fedor, but I think in recent years his takedown defense is much improved, as witnessed by his fight against Vladdy. Most people expected him to be taken down at will, but it turned out to be just the opposite. Of course Fedor is a much better striker than Vladdy, and probably a lot more explosive, but it would still be an interesting matchup.

Yeah I copied and pasted all that from the IF website. I guess it's the definition of the tuneup fight. If I didn't know any better I would have thought that Rampage was the recent winner on The Ultimate Fighter.

Well to be honest, I don't know many that do well now, unless Overeem's PRIDE Guillotine Prix counts.

Remco actually beat the crap out of a striker, who admittedly was outweighed by like one hundred pounds or something. I always wondered why he didn't do that well against Royce at UFC 2, I mean he was a grappler who was experienced in Judo and outweighed Royce by like 100 pounds, so you'd think that he could have done something. He had the best post fight interview though, after he beat the little black guy. "I thought I was gonna lose, he is a tougher guy then me, I guess he's not tough."

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson just informed InsideFighting that he is fighting at Pride 30 on October 23. Although Rampage said he couldn't pronounce the fighter's name, he said the guy was undefeated before fighting in Pride, where he faced Mario Sperry, "Minotauro" Nogueira, and Heath Herring. The only fighter that fits that description is Hirotaka Yokoi.
