Snuff film seems appropriate, it wasn't just a brutal fight, it was violent, and I don't use that term very often in MMA, as to me violence is only when one person is seriously hurting the other without provocation or any resistance. In MMA, fighters always fight back obviously, but not here. As far as the finish is concerned, it was just one man beating another senselessly as he had no life left in him and showed no will to fight back. Considering how tough the loser was (nickname was warrior after all, fought for two years with 20-400 vision) it just makes the effort that much more impressive. Another one that I don't hear people talk about often in terms of sick finishes was Sylvia-Gan McGee from UFC 44. SPOILER ALERT The KO on the feet is bad enough as Gan(gly) McGee stumbles down, but holy shit the punches on the ground were fucking sick. A 280 lb man who already has a ton of KO power is punching the shit out of Gan's face with HARD shots that just make me cringe. Gan being lifeless as it happens makes it worse. Bonus for anyone who noticed the woman in the front row force herself to look away as Tim rained down the strikes. I bought the DVD recently and saw that more than a few times. Anyways, AoO you said you were already gonna get the UFC 44 DVD so you'll get to see that one.

Noguiera-Sapp from PRIDE Shockwave 2002 and Noguiera-Mirko from PRIDE Final Conflict 2003. Both great fights, that are sort of what you want, but different in a sense as well. Would probably give you a great appreciation for MMA too. You want a one-sided Beatdown? Phil Baroni-Dave Menne from UFC 39. My God.

Saw a thread on the Dog that said that Ninja Rua will be fighting in the UFC for the October show. This would be great for a variety of reasons, mainly that I like the guy who seems like a cool dude, and this could resurrect his career really. Not to mention the amount of great matchups that would be fresh over in the UFC. The fans would love the guy's non-stop style too. It would be a shame for him to have his career essentially be over at 25. -

Is Pequeno the one that was SHOOTO champ for like six years or something? I am unfamiliar with most guys below 155. And you all have shitty taste in humour. I laughed out loud when I heard Goldie go "How do you say that in the PORTUGUESA!" I forgot what fight that was though. Probably Sobral at UFC 52. -
Okay, the real answers. FIGHTERS Tank Abbott - No, really popular fighter who was a player in the early days, and first successful street fighter in the old days, but still no tournament wins, even in his time, makes it hard. Mark Coleman - Definitely for all the reasons already stated. Randy Couture - Ditto. Don Frye - One of the first guys to really cross train in the early days, huge draw in Japan, and a few big tournament wins makes him a yes. Though I can understand why people would say no since he stuck around way longer than he should have. Masakatsu Funaki - Ehhhh, I'm not big on worked fights, but this guy was a big name. I don't know alot, but knowing what I know, no. Rickson Gracie - No, too afraid of hurting his image in taking the two biggest fights offered to him (Sak and Bas, not to mention countless others) so easy decision. Jiu Jitsu God, not really big in MMA. Royce Gracie - of course Bas Rutten - Has the bad luck of being popular in a dark time in the UFC, as well as having the two main fights he wanted backfire because of the other person (aforementioned Rickson and Frank) but the guy was a very well-rounded fighter near the end of his career, and is a prime example of someone who knew what they couldn't do well, and worked on it till they became pretty good at it. I'd have to say yes because he was successful in his time, and I honestly believe that if he were to fight today without any injuries he would be successful again. Kazushi Sakuraba - Obviously. Dan Severn - Yeah, first wrestler to be successful in MMA. Like Royce, wasn't the best at what he did, but the first to really make a mark in the eyes of the fans. Frank Shamrock - One of the biggest stars of the UFC at one point, helped carry them through their dark days with the feud against Tito, really helped build a non heavyweight division to showcase lighter fighters, which is the UFC's money division now, and fought guys at 200 while being roughly 185. Combine that with the fact that he was a smart fighter with great cardio and a very good skillset and I'd have to say yes. Ken Shamrock - Being a WWE star doesn't mean shit. Great draw because of it, never really did anything else. Of course he'll get in because this thing is probably a joke, but really no. Maurice Smith - Nah. MANAGEMENT/HISTORICAL Rorion Gracie (creator of UFC) - Correct me if I'm wrong, but the UFC was really the first org to bring MMA into the mainstream really, and really get it out there. It's also the main org that slowly but surely saw the development of the sport, even during its darkest days. Created for the sole purpose of making BJJ the most popular martial art, it still made its mark in other ways. I say you have to put him in there for it. I realised I may have gone over some limit I'm not aware of, but oh well. I would put in Matt Hughes at some point as well, along with Tito Ortiz.

If you make one pick this year, make it this one:

New poster, due to Chuck dropping out. Most likely because of the title fight:

No offense to you, but I don't remember you being that fat. I also guess you ditched the idea of trying out for the sooners?

I didn't like the Machina stuff but I definitely think Adore is a great album. Okay, good album, better than Infinite Sadness which should have been made on one album. Siamese Dream is the best, I don't really remember Gish, only listened to it a couple of times. Didn't really stick out. EDIT: Just read the article. Never mind.

It's mainly for people that want whole albums, since you search for a song and the whole list of tracks from the album pops up from the user who has the song, all in order and such. Obviously you can just d/l whichever specific song you want. It's pretty good in that it has a lot of independant stuff you won't normally find on bigger search engines like Ares and Kazaa. Obviously the fact that you have a whole album conveniently placed there for you is nice too. The d/l are slower though, so that's one negative. I use it if I want an album since I just start d/l at night or something and check in the morning.

PRIDEFC: Critical Countdown 2005

Spoiler re: Rizzo-Kharitanov HOLY FUCKING SHIT! I don't know what happened there, but even as Sergei kept tagging him, I expected Rizzo to eventually counterpunch his way to a KO. VERY impressive win for Sergei, and while Rizzo isn't the marquee win he used to be, the fact that he KO'ed him standing while bringing and getting Rizzo to trade with him, just makes it that much better. I want to see him fight a healthy Barnett in August, or any contender for that matter, along with the LHW finals and Cro Cop-Fedor, should make for an awesome card. A rematch with Nog in the future would be fun too. Rua-Overreem and Silva-Arona looks like the way to go, all I can say is that at least now Silva won't have one easy match on the most important night of the tournament, so people will (hopefully) stop bitching if he wins again. I think for sure Chute Boxe will be seperated, while I think they'll make Arona take on Shogun, but I'd much rather Shogun-Overreem. Overall this card wasn't that great much like most expected, save for Shogun's match, though I haven't seen Arona or Wand's matches. I honestly think those will just be squashes. Somewhat fun in Nastula/Noguiera and Rizzo-Kharitanov, but don't hold up in the long run. SPOILER FINISH -
Wait, was the person who said Giambi for Vlad serious? You said you did it in a video game so I assumed you were joking.

Oh, I mean I just wait for the PPV and order it to support the sport. I was gonna just put a couple of random MMA cliches after, but now that I have the idea I'm gonna make a list. These all make me laugh really in how lame they are for the most part. Lame and annoying, but that's why they're funny to laugh at, especially the ones from commentators. Add if you like. SUPPORT THE SPORT! OMG WE'RE GOING MAINSTREAM! BIGGER THAN BOXING! (My favourite from Goldie) SO YOU WANNA BE AN ULTIMATE FIGHTER?! Trying to sound hip while there's a high moment in the fight: Brought to you from IN YA FACE DOT COM! (or some other stupid shill at a high point in the fight. He has a used car salesman vibe I swear.) Bas with a fighter he likes, whose in a bad position: Oh he's got nothing there. *Fighter taps* Shot to the liver, he hit the liver, nice body shot....to the liver. Rogan: Oh yeah, he's a tough dude. (Insert fighter name) is top of the food chain. HE'S ROCKED! (Insert fighter name) IS ROCKED! HE'S GOT DYNAMITE IN THOSE HANDS! OMG HES GOT IT SUNK!!!!!! ... okay he's out. -

I just get YSI links for the seperate matches. I generally don't get the whole card beginning to end, but the Japanese version has pre and post match happenings, so I'm fine with it. -

It's true, getting choked out by Gilbert Yvel is EMBARRASSING. I would ask how he deserves a shot at a bonafide top five HW, but this is PRIDE we're talking about. Only good thing about this match will be the potential for a brawl after the fight, or big interview/staredown. Fedor will be cornering whatshisname, and after seeing his boy get taken out by High kick, hopefully he will be fired up for the eventual post match segment with the two. Of course, he's only been his boy for like a year, so who knows if there is any connection. Ah well. I am suprised this is that early on the show though, thought it would be the last of the HW matches at least. I'll be the first (and probably last) to say it: I think Sakuraba matches up really well with Arona, and could easily see him do to him what he does to every other BJJ guy he faces. I know Arona is a lot bigger than him, but when it comes to pure wrestling ability obviously Saku is better. Will he win? Probably not, but he has a better shot with Arona than with any of the other guys. If his body isn't broken down from getting his ass kicked all those times, he could easily pull this off. I think Lil Nog is gonna beat Shogun, on the feet at that. His pure boxing technique is better than Shogun's slaphappy flailing style. I still have to see that Vladdy match though to see just how bad he was roughed up. Why hasn't Vladdy dropped to LHW? He's only like 215, that's less than what a lot of LHW fight at. Vov will pound out Overreem on the ground I think, and Silva will KO (or carry, I don't know) Nak. Sergei got the worse end of the striking game with Noguiera, the only chance he has on the feet with Pedro is if he is fucked up mentally or if a wind blows through the ring and cuts his face. He would be smart to use his sambo and pound him out I think. He could probably do it since Pedro is not much off of his back. He generally just likes to stand back up. But who knows, maybe all those visits to the sports psychologist will pay off and he will KO Sergei. I just don't think Sergei is stupid enough to stand with him. If he does to strike rather than set up a takedown, he will be knocked out. The Favourites should go over in the other three fights. I can't say I'm looking forward to this card much. I have become more of a fan of the UFC in the past year really, and this card doesn't really pull me back. I will be psyched up for the August card though, no doubt. The LHW Finals plus Cro Cop vs. Fedor and I assume Josh Barnett will be back. With UFC 54, August looks to be an amazing month for MMA. Mauro Ranallo also sucks, like really bad, like worse than Mike Goldberg and Jim Brown and that Kickboxing chick from UFC 1 put together. Okay not that bad, but he really sucks. Worst one of the bunch right now I think. Worse even than Damon the Dog. The only guy that I heard that was worse was that worthless fuck on the IFC Tournament show. -
To the guy who wondered how he could be Italian and French Canadian, lots of Italians live in Montreal. I remember hearing that the shiek or iron shiek or one of them was an italian guy from montreal. Don't know if that's true though.

If Phil wins (and I think he will) I wonder what kind of wrench that would throw in the Middleweight division. Here's hoping the NYBA gets over himself and goes back to calling out Matt Lindland. I know one thing though, if he does win it makes PRIDE Look REALLY weak in terms of 185 lb'ers. I think Ryo Chonan is overrated anyway, it's not like people were hanging off of Daiju Takase's nuts when he beat Carlos and Anderson. -

UFC 46 has two great undercard matches in GSP-Karo and Franca-Thompson. Okay I haven't seen GSP's fight, but it's GSP, and Karo, so even a decision is exciting. -
Tis a shame, those follow up shots were pretty sick and cool to watch at the same time, what with Ricco's head bouncing off the mat. You also give the impression that the fight was stopped early, as opposed to it looking like it was, with Ricco just KTFO. Most sports fans don't really respect ESPN, so it wouldn't surprise me for them to be the last to jump on the MMA Bandwagon, just like how they're very conservative with anything that should be pushed. They're filled with corporate whores....well, even moreso than the rest of the media.

I don't think that's true, the UFC right now is doing a good job of building Buentello, it will be for naught though. They built a few guys in the past, and Rampage as a Christian isn't the same character anyway. I personally think he backed out because he wants to get on a bit of a roll before he takes a fight as difficult as one with Chuck or Randy. That's understandable, as with his recent history to step right back into a match with either of those guys would be dangerous. He's already said he doesn't like fighting for PRIDE since they don't give him a notice on fights most of the time. The UFC matches up fighters well I think. Sometimes that doesn't work out, especially when you have a guy like GSP fighting Matt Hughes a lot sooner than you'd like. But the UFC is all about matching up top guys. It's not as good at building hype, but it creates better matches than the ones in PRIDE with all the cans that get thrown in for the sake of making someone look better. -
Bob Sapp, Mark Hunt, David "Tank" Abbot, Butterbean....I see no difference. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Those are bad examples I would say, since Butterbean, Bob Sapp and Tank are all sideshow attractions that are used mainly for gimmicky shit. They're not good examples of MMA. Mark Hunt is a legitimate Kickboxer, I don't know why you're bringing him up.

I hate Mr. Sub. It doesn't seem like very good quality, at least compared to Subway. What's Blimpies? I'm sure Quizno's has some healthy alternatives on their list.
