Seattle gets a top tier cornerback and the #2 overall pick while The Dolphins would be getting a running back that is going to demand a top level contract and a late round first round pick. A trade you relate this to is the Champ Bailey for Clinton Portis deal. Portis showed that while still a very good back alot of his numbers were also due to having a great O-line. Anyways, according to Alan Greenberg of the Hartford Courant who is on New England Sports Tonight, the Patriots could be looking at bringing in Darren Sharper and moving Eugene Wilson back to CB. That's not really the best example to prove your point, if your point is that the Seahawks are getting the better of the deal, seeing as how Champ was arguably a bigger letdown than Portis.

THATS NOT INCANDENZA~! Either you're an imposter, or you're being ironic. VERY ironic. It better be the latter. -
Did someone honestly nominate LL? *shudders* I'd have to say Biggie personally, but I'm not that knowledgable in hip hop/rap. I know enough to know that the answer sure as hell ain't LL. I'm still trying to figure out a specific song by Biggie, I've heard it many times but don't know the name. David Terrell used it at UFC 51, for those of you who may have seen it.

You are right it is weird, since the guy had like blood clots in his brain or something. -
He admitted to doing it. I just saw it on ESPN.

I'd live anywhere in the south, because I hate Canadian winter. Seriously, once I get a degree or someting I'm moving to the Southern US or something. The only thing is up here we hear so many stories about bad racism is there, although I'm willing to believe that there's no outright racism, maybe just ignorance on the part of people who only know black people from MTV or something. Even then, it's probably a small minority. I'd love to live in California, especially around that muscle beach place. It's like living on a nice island, without the lepers.

I always thought he looked a helluva lot like Tony Soprano.

With that, allowing this discussion to go further than the build of an athlete...screw SportsCenter and their asinine discussion on Barry Bonds' hat size ... Judging by the amount of punishment a football and hockey player will take over the course of a season, steroids has to be a prevalent aid in keeping the athletes from missing significant time with injuries. The toughness of these mold of players can go only so far, especially when they only have to look at past examples (sadly, Earl Campbell for one) to see what a non-steroid generation now has to endure. Conversely one could point to the same generation and see the effects steroids took on Lyle Alzedo. There can be distinctions between steroids. Its like good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. Tedy Bruschi had a stroke and he is like a thirty year old man. Something's wrong with that situation, it's not like he's the only LB in the league who gets their ass kicked that much. -
No, Corey got screwed because he ran his mouth and Marvin Lewis called him out and took out the game tape in front of Corey and the O-Line. Shhh, Corey Dillon and the Patriots can do no wrong. Bill Belicheck is the greatest coach in the HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE!~ Well, that last part has a chance of coming true, depending on how they do this season after all the hits they've taken on their staff and personnel.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I don't know if any of you have been keeping up with the news, but there has been a big dispute with Fedor and PRIDE management, with Fedor saying that he won't resign because PRIDE is only offering him HALF of what he feels he deserves, aka half of what Wanderlei Silva is getting. Nobuhiko Takada has gone publicly to say that he thinks Fedor is scared of Cro Cop and that's why he hasn't resigned, trying to lure him back by calling him a pussy basically. Fedor said that he won't fall for his tricks (or something like that) and will wait till he gets what he deserves. Fedor Re-signs with PRIDE PRIDE Site In other words... I'm a littler nervous because anything can happen, but here's hoping for a vicious KO of TK. -
Oh I'm a big MMA fan, but I wasn't at the time, so I had no idea about this stuff. I think Angle would have been tapped out regardless anyway. He got the takedown on Puder, and it's not like his wrestling background would teach him how to get out of a kimura.

Thanks for the answers, just one more question; didn't Bart know eventually that if Williams kept winning, he'd eventually have to kick his ass? It only makes sense. I wonder how they advertised it, because when I saw it going on I just changed the channel. If I knew it was real (can you trust the WWF in things like this?) I would have stayed tuned in. Williams was a collegiate wrestler I think, I'm surprised he didn't use his wrestling background to put Gunn on his back.
-
Does Bart have any legit fighting cred? Why Bob Holly, is he a pussy in real life or something? Why didn't they work it if they wanted Williams to run through the competition? Were they confident that he was a badass? Would whoever else have won gotten the same push?

Post my questions regarding Brawl For All in this thread, might as well: Does anyone know what the purpose of this was, and if it was worked at all?
-
I think the Jays will be five games within .500, above or below. The year after, maybe we can overcome all odds and make a run for the playoffs. I'm being REALLY optimistic, but with the hike in salary money used, it's definitely possible.
-
Huh? "Panic"?!? Are you sure? "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" or even "Hand In Glove" WAY before "Panic." How Soon Is Now definitely gets the most play. Bigmouth Strikes Again as well. If I had to personally pick one, I'd probably say "The Boy With a Thorn..." or "There is a Light..".

Request - Some Brawl For All stuff, I skipped this when it originally aired, and now that I've gotten into MMA I'm curious to know how this played out. Does anyone know what the purpose of this was, and if it was worked at all? -
For me, the best era is probably the early nineties. I don't think I ever watched as much hockey as I did back then. Great time to be a Leafs fan too. Douggie, Dave Andreychuk, Kypreos, Baumgartner, etc. etc. Whenever they played Detroit in the Playoffs, THAT shit was exciting. I don't think that there was a better time to be a Leafs fan in recent memory.

I'm not exactly sure how this = me saying Troy Brown is a "me" player. I have NEVER said that. I don't think that at all. What I do think is that he's a little pussy for bitching about it. Back in the day everyone played both ways, and on special teams, and got their own water, and taped themselves up (with Sears catalogs on their shins). Oh boo fucking hoo, you had to play some defense, quit whining. Okay you called him a whiner, which is essentially a "me" player, but that's just semantics. Forget I said that. Regardless, players don't play both ways TODAY. He did, and was a makeshift CB against real W.R You can judge him based on the fact that he did what his team wanted him to do and did it for most of the season and playoffs, or you could judge based on the fact that he didn't like it and made a statement about it later. I think it's kinda lame to pick on him for a statement when his actions reflect much more importantly on his character, and on the type of player that he is.
-
Oh, I woulda cut him too, but it's just that Platypus made him sound like one of those "me" players because he hated doing something that he did anyway, something that 95% of the players in the league wouldn't do and probably do as well as he did. The Pats aren't a family team, like everyone paints them out to be. They're just a really well-managed team. I think it's impossible to be well-managed and not hurt a few feelings.
-
Yeah four is good for me too.
-
While I think you're a little melodramatic in the paragraph with the families thing, I think you are right. Baseball has to be 162 games, that's just the nature of the sport to be that long. This goes back to each sport being different.

I thought you were thirty-seven and went "Wow that's old", but then you were talking about Deep Purple. I don't think he'd destroy Couture, but he'd beat him 10/10. Heh, I guess I do think he'll destroy him People put too much stock in that Fujita fight, and I thought Fedor shushed the critics about getting caught by taking Goodridge more seriously and pummeling him. Is Fujita a better striker than Goodridge? No, but Fedor didn't give him respect which is why he was caught. He learned his lesson when he fought the next gatekeeper PRIDE put in front of him, and showed that he learned from it. EDIT: Thank you Lei Tong. -

What's his name? Yeah but finalists could mean anything, did he mean final two? At this point I say Diego is gonna be there against Josh since their team will win out on the MW, or get KO'ed by Leben who will face Josh again in the finals. -
I mean the guy who DID play both ways and did whatever the team asked of him. The fact that he did it, and did it well, while hating it should give him even more props. I can't think of many guys who would be willing to do all that for his team. I can't think of any who would do it as well as he did. But I guess since he stated that he hated it AFTER the season yet shut up and did twice of what was expected of him during the season means he isn't the Pats kinda player. If you honestly are criticizing him for not being happy with it, and that he should have been, then maybe Sapp was right. Sure, it's an exaggeration in a sport where people get paid MILLIONS, but the point is you're pushing a guy to do more than he should and he isn't happy about it, it's okay to cut him because he doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. BAH.
