My question, and mind you, I know next to nothing about this whole trilogy both in novel and film form, is why can't the ring be used effectively? If it has so much power, why can't it be used for good? What makes it intrisically so evil? Also, how exactly did it deform and mess up that hobbit that got long life out of it? Why does him having the ring cause him to just get messed up or whatever? What exactly did it do to him? What exactly can the ring do? I still don't understand this, it just seems to ruin people's lives but I don't know of what "specific powers" that it holds and how it can be used. Mind you, this will sound stupid to a lot of the fans, but to someone who didn't really pay much attention to the movie in the first place, it's confusing.

They also show that neither William Shakespeare nor William Golding can write worth shit. I was just skimming the thread. This poster's even dumber than the Hitler guy and it needed to be mentioned. I was about to say the same thing. His name should be changed to reflect this. Even if people don't understand it they understand the significance of Shakespeare's work. He's famous. I don't want to read the PRIDE spoilers, so please don't place them here, but I was looking for a link to K1 spoilers, for the dynamite show. EDIT: Here are the spoilers, I didn't care much for this show, and after reading the spoilers, I understand why. The experiment with the gold medal wrestler intrigued me though, especially against a typical wrestler in Fujita. K1 Dynamite spoilers Lei Tong, don't you think it's a little overboard to say Silva has no chance on the feet? I mean, he stood with Cro Cop pretty well in that fight, he played it smart. This is a surreal matchup for me though. It went from a one sided beating to taking the most dominant fighter in MMA and putting him in a match that he is the underdog (in my eyes). It's just so weird to have the possibility of him being ousted from his stranglehold on the sport in a matter of what, three days? Of course, I could be wrong on all of what I said, seeing as how the fight has occurred, but I haven't seen it, so it hasn't happened to me. Leko had a back injury in the first fight, so that could be a good reason why he sucked it up there, or it was a work.

In relation to this, I always wondered why so many people I knew would constantly bring up rights of homosexuals, being all "tolerant" then stereotype them as sissies or use them as the BUTT of all of their jokes without remorse, not to mention mock them for their sexual orientation, as if they're lesser people. That always seemed hypocritical to me. Terms like fag and cocksucker are still used to imply that someone is lesser then you too. Refer to someone as a nigger implying their lesser human beings and see what happens. But hey, it's cool to be gay these days, I mean they have like, three shows on TV! Yeah, that Votsis guy didn't deserve all he got. It's a wrestling website people, I doubt he'd have done the same if the piece of writing held some actual significance. Sure in principle it was wrong, but in the end it's not as serious as it was made, particularly by the Sandman fellow. He needs a life.

Just wondering, we haven't had one for awhile, and I'm sure there's interest for either PPV (P)reviews or news updates, the same type of stuff you would get for any other sports/wrestling column. I personally enjoyed reading the stuff that was posted in the past and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to write up some stuff, and would be quite good at it. Just a suggestion.

Just out of curiousity, did you write the Reggie White memorial yourself? Not important or anything, just at the end when it said "our condolences" I assumed that you got it from some other website, and it just seemed very generic is all. Although admittedly there's not much insight that you could provide in the matter.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, since you've been pretty serious in other parts of this thread. All I can say is that the death toll could have been much smaller had better precautions been used, and due to diseases, the death toll will only get that much worse. Very depressing.

Marriage has the definition of being between a man and a woman, by pretty much everyone, except for people who want to CHANGE it. The thing is, you can't change the definition of marriage, so much as you can't change the definition of a triangle as not having three sides. That's what it is. Have civil unions, have all the equal rights in terms of benefits and such, if that's what's wanted. There's no discrimination here. It's funny how people spend pages upon pages harping on about gay marriage, yet no one gives a shit as to more significant social injusticies, like all that goes on in third world nations. Even better is the fact that most people call Christians hypocrites when it comes to their attitude towards others, when I know so many that get up and give up significant amounts of their life to serve others in places like Africa and South America, big places they are, continents after all. But hey, they don't approve of homosexuality so they must suck. Am I the only one whose also sick and tired of people having their identity defined by the fact that they're gay, or black, or whatever? Human beings are more complicated then that. I didn't mention the actual topic, that being the Christian law group, because unless they are allowing a whole bunch of other sinning, like promiscuous sex and plain ole drunken debauchery, then there is nothing wrong with that. Of course, they shouldn't get funding from the school either.

Does anyone watch KOTC? I was looking through Sherdog and there's a chance for 10 events for twenty bucks. The only things I know about it are that it's a b-level show in the States and that Rampage fought there back when he sucked. It really is amazing how much he's progressed as a fighter. But yeah, I see that most of the fights are finished properly, as opposed to decisions. Is this worth getting?

I found when I was 7, and my cousins broke the news to me. I tried to argue with them but my parents broke it to me. Maybe there's a relation between this fact and the fact that I'm the only religious child in the extended family? Well, it was on one of those "Classic Album" shows, where Johnathan Davis and Aaron Lewis were interviewed as a couple of musicians who loved the Black Album. Staind and Korn sound more like Metallica then Nirvana, if I had to pick one anyway. Puddle of Mudd and bands of that ilk, well I guess you could say that they sound like Nirvana, but they're so horribly bad by comparison and their music is so different in reality that I always hate when people make the comparison. I have never heard a Nirvana song like Control or Blurry. I guess the point is, none of these bands sound like what I'm being told they sound like. It's just a bunch of labelling done to try and sell them as the next big thing. We all know this, but when people use this information to bring down Nirvana, then it should be pointed out that it's not their fault these bands pretend to be like them, and that should not be used when discussing their music.

I recall seeing some special way back when, and most nu-metal bands seemed to cite the Black Album as their main influence. Maybe they all are copying Metallica instead? I hear more Metallica in say, a Disturbed song then Nirvana. Nirvana wasn't as RAWK~! so perhaps these shitty bands really did pick off Metallica.

I was about to say Soundgarden was average, but I don't know anyone here that really likes them, and I like to strike a nerve when I name shitty bands. Can we not ruin every thread with Nirvana? There's no point arguing, since none of the people that argue ever get anywhere, and most of the people that bash them don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Nirvana was a great band, if you disagree fine, but just shut the fuck up about it. Van Halen is horrible. One of the worst bands I've ever had the displeasure of listening to. Ken Adams' post wasn't even worth reading, since I already knew this. I already went through the debate a few months back about how technique doesn't equate with greatness in terms of music, or art in general, but people don't seem to listen. Go listen to your Steve Vai, or Yngwie Malmsteen or whatever. Good thing most of those guys don't post anymore. This folder would be flooded with Yes and Marshall Tucker Band threads. Oh yeah, Rush is pretty damn average.
