To god -
I got this game recently, and have a few questions: 1) Are there no World Cup or Champions League mode? I know its not a World Cup year, but I don't get why they don't have the tournament available for fun. Also, why no Champions League? That comes out every year. 2) Can you create a team? I can't find this anywhere. 3) For creating players, do they always have to initially suck? Is there a code or some way of making them great from the beginning? I wanted to create some classic players is all. Speaking of which... 4) Are there any classic teams? One of my favourite features of other sports games is picking legendary versions of teams. It would be sweet if I could get a 1986 version of the Argentina National team, or 2001-02 of Man United, etc. Anyone know of good sites that explain the ins and outs? Maybe these are obvious for some, but I guess my fandom of North American sports causes me to expect certain things.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Thanks, the most shocking thing is the part about his knees. I know he said they were bad, but I didn't know they were "I can't run a half mile without not being able to walk for five days after" bad. That's fucked up. -

War Machine beat Guillaume DeLorenzi yesterday. A lot of people stateside don't know who that is, but that is actually a pretty legitimate win for War Machine, as DeLorenzi was being talked about as being UFC-bound very soon, and had a string of very impressive victories. Good for WM. More importantly, Thierry beat up UFC vet Doug Evans with a Triangle Choke in the second round. Pretty good performance as he had to come back from getting rocked in the first round. I think this was a Featherweight fight, but it's good for him because with a couple of other performances like this, he can erase the image of the Hioki loss and maybe even get a shot at the WEC. John Makdessi beat up some nobody, so did Daylin, but these are two guys to watch out for in the future. Makdessi was actually featured in one of the GSP-Penn Primetime shows. His grappling is limited, but as long as he gets favourable opponents while continuing to work on it, he will be a force in a year or two. -

I disagree, even watching it today, the views that were taken are breathtaking, and the all-encompassing shots of the army and the way Hitler was portrayed walking through were also brilliant. It was amazing for its time, and still good today. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm also quite certain that it influenced film direction pretty significantly afterwards, as many of the shots that it used were unheard of at the time. The stuff where they circle around Nuremberg high in the sky is pretty fucking cool regardless of when you see it, and it's sad that all of that is destroyed because it really was a beautiful city. Also, I hate Jews. Hitler takes top spot by default. -

Hitler, Triumph of the Will is a masterful piece of filmmaking. Anyone who influenced the direction for something like this should be revered in my eyes. -
I will try to be nice and avoid insulting TSM posters. This will be really hard, but it's something I need to do in real life anyway, as I'm pretty hard on everyone who disagrees with me, so what better way to start the 'live and let live' motto than on good ole TSM!

Anybody here seen "The Wrestler"?
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Kinetic's topic in No Holds Barred
I know a Romanian girl with the Ahn-dray-uh pronunciation. You spell it with two e's, Andreea. Pretty odd. I don't know one person that's seen Paul Blart: Mall Cop, except for maybe Frank Trigg, what with his boner for Kevin James. -

Swick is a Jew? Brazilians and North Eastern'ers (Boston, NY, etc.) whine way more than Jews and Canadians. -
What's the most comprehensive DAW you've used? Fruity Loops more or less than the ones that work well with your Mac?

Speaking of Outliers; Czech, what do you think of his theories on the Date of Birth being so important for success? Also, do you buy the 10,000 hour rule? Because I don't, and I think there's plenty of evidence, especially in sports, to prove otherwise. Also, some people just adapt better to certain practices than others, and people that go through the exact same coaching environment with the same emphasis on learning and deliberate practice, seem to have great disparities in their skill levels. -

Who doesn't believe that women are more emotional and men are more rational? Or more accurately, that women are fucking crazy? I am jealous of gay men in that sense, that they don't have to deal with the fucking craziness of the fairer sex. -

What's this? I also have to pick Riley in 1994. I'm not a fan of the Knicks or anything, but I do like the Knicks because of their tradition and the history behind MSG, etc. It sucks to have such a storied franchise go down the shitter like they have. -

2009 Oscar prediction contest
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in Television & Film
I would say his one line about Ledger isn't comparable to all the others in the thread getting pissed over Rourke losing. The award is a symbol of achievement, even if in my personal opinion it doesn't carry the credibility that I used to give it back when I was younger and more naive about film in general. It honours a person's performance, and people will naturally want to see the actor that they thought gave the best one to take the award. I was upset (not in a "the room is spinning" kind of way) that Rourke lost, because I felt he deserved it the most out of all the nominees, and I think it has many practical applications for him too, at least in terms of getting him future work. I honestly believe that without the award he won't get as many roles as he would have with it. I agree that it shouldn't affect how much you like the actor or their work, but I do think that the Oscar is a nice validation for it. It won't make me enjoy it any more or less, but it's a nice feather in their cap, which is what an award is supposed to be. It doesn't really mean anything, but it's a nice little thing to have, a way to show the world that you were the best in the eyes of the most esteemed judges on the subject. Heath Ledger himself talked about how it was all bullshit, but as insecure people we all like to have a little token of achievement. -
Yeah, that fight is as good as any for proof that Edgar should drop in weight. He was literally bullied around by the bigger wrestler, who is not necessarily better either. I'm still interested in this card, but it's definitely lacking in star power, that's for sure.

CHampions League starts today, Man U is spanking Inter even though the score is even. They should be up at least one or two goals. Pretty fun match, Ronaldo is working magic with the ball as usual. Anyone know why Rooney is benched? I've heard Jose has beaten Fergie almost every time they've faced, though you wouldn't be able to tell from this match. I'd start an official Champions League thread, but its too sporadic and I Don't think there's enough demand on this board to sustain it. Anyone disagree?

UFC 95 Sanchez vs. Stevenson
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I didn't, Sanchez and Diaz are on different levels when it comes to BJJ. I'm not saying it wouldn't be competitive, just that it wouldn't be disastrous for Sanchez in terms of getting laid on. If Guida wins he'll have to work to stay out of submissions and sweeps the whole time. -
