What are you talking about? Okami is from Japan, where the competition is easier. -
I'm surprised so many watned him to win for The Hurricane, I thought Kevin Spacey did much better. I didn't like Hurricane overall though, and the fact that it was a VERY glowing portrayal of Rubin Carter when many feel he didn't deserve as much recognition didn't help matters. Still, Denzel did a great job with what he had, but I thought all the other factors made Spacey's performance that much better. I still think the shopping bag scene is stupid though.

Is anyone else watching this Brewster/Klitschko fight? I thought it was the first one, but apparently TSN must have bought rights from HBO to show it, as they're showing it live for free.

I think Tito is gonna send Rashad to the Middleweight division.

Drew Bledsoe's performance in that AFC Championship game is overstated. I think it's just because people like to romanticize the idea of him coming in and saving the day in his last game as a Patriot. That was really all defense and special teams that won it for them.
-
That's not what I said. A lot of people view him as the greatest boxer ever. Maybe not people in the know, but the majority of people associate his name with Boxing. I think it would have diminshed his reputation if he hadn't done the time, as someone said due to the fact that he wouldn't have been as controversial a figure.

He's known as the greatest HW Boxer. VX how the hell do you think the Rams would have been better without Warner? And how the hell do you think the Pats make the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl? Warner had an MVP year, was unbelievably accurate (especially with the long ball) at that time, and before injuries did him in was an unbelievable player to watch. The Pats were under .500 for Christ' sake, how would they be better with Bledsoe than Brady, who has proven to be a much better player than Bledsoe ever was? That whole scenario is so asinine I'm beginning to think if you've let your creative side run away with the details.

Now I also believe that's the main event unfortunately, because they changed the ads to talk about that fight first.

Rather than WIDE RIGHT, how about down the middle?

Are you absolutely clean now Agent, apart from the occasional drink? How much of a pothead were you before?

I actually really liked Denzel in Training Day, but admittedly wasn't as good as Crowe's in A Beautiful Mind. But, while Crowe should have won for Beautiful Mind, he undeservedly won for Gladiator, and Denzel didn't get the one most say he deserved for Malcolm X or Philadelphia (as supporting). I'm in the minority that think Denzel didn't deserve it for Malcolm, but that's because I *loved* Pacino's performance in A Scent of a Woman.

Yeah I'm bracing myself for disappointment if these title fights end up going to boring decisions. Word on the street is that the smart money is on Bocek as he's a pretty big dog. That fight is getting a lot of hype on the underground it seems like, and everyone is saying watch out for Bocek.

I said that tongue in cheek, I definitely think Blue is one of the best posters for mma, but you're definitely right in that he's biased as hell.

The book (which has some unintentional hilarity due to being released in 1950): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F4Z8YDQG Thanks for the link Al.

That's like three stories old, dude. -
I'm actually using it for MMA but thanks regardless. I figure at this point if I ever want to go far that private instruction will be necessary at certain points, but you're right in that it is expensive for the most part. Where did you find the footage of him? Online or tapes? I will upload the book when I get home, it's not in print but it's a small pdf file, like 5 MB so it's no biggie. I'm sure others here might have some interest in it as well.

Don't worry about it, I'm glad you didn't fly off the handle like some would have. I'm glad you chose to respond to the content in my post, you should take me off ignore and do so in the future, as it is quite educational! Seriously, he actually writes about that fight in the intro, about how he was nervous because he was outweighed by about 50 lbs and the other guy looked like a sculpture. He then explains that it is his use of proper speed and power that caused to him to destroy the opponent, which is what he goes into in the book. The training is something that I do, but the thing is it's hard for them to go into specific technical issues when there's a large group of people training. I figure looking at some fundamentals and trying to gain an edge can't really be bad or anything. The way I look at it is that most people have bad habits, and it's hard for the trainer to correct them unless you're taking one on one lessons. I just figure to supplement my training in the gym with this would help me curb some of those bad habits before they start.

Quiet Gayseppe Fagara. -
And that's only half true, Mr. Blue blows as well. I still can't believe he picked against Sherk purely out of hate. Even if Franca wins, I highly doubt he'll be able to turn the tide in later rounds, considering he's had issues with this in the past, and Sherk is one of the most in shape fighters around. There's no reason to believe that, that's like "Serra Knocking out GSP" odds of happening with "how the fuck" levels of reasoning.

The station interviewed him and it came directly from his mouth. But yeah, this rumour was unfounded. Whatever, more proof that Sherdog blows (aside from a couple of the radio shows and Mr. Blue).

Also the Canadian government is pretty corrupt. I laugh when my hippie friends talk about how bad the U.S. government is (which it is, just look at the story that started this thread) then talk about how much better Canada is...which it isn't. Sponsorship scandal anyone?

I don't even know if in terms of money that you still have it better. Many Americans, especially in the middle class, are in debt, buying things they can't afford and then owning things that they don't really own. Consider the social safety net in the other countries, with things like education and healthcare, and a lot of the necessities that we take for granted become luxuries in the United States.

If you have to turn on the ignore function for someone that you admittedly run into once every few months, then you should probably stop watching boxing and start participating in order to grow some balls. Considering that you edited your posts multiple times in order to rebut what he said, I'd say you do care about what he thinks, contrary to your desire to ignore him. Anyway, it's only the internet. Please don't get into some lengthy diatribe with me, I don't want to hear it. I don't need to turn on the ignore function to either, I will just scroll down, unless you have something relevant to say about: Jack Dempsey. Does anyone here knowledgable enough about old school, like reallllly old school boxing have much info on him? I have been reading this book he wrote called Championship Fighting, and it's fairly interesting as I've been working on improving my power and footwork, but would anyone know if it's a worthy guide? Is his opinion worth hearing? A lot of pro fighters have turned out to be pretty bad teachers, but this book seems pretty legitimate. If you have nothing to say about the book, what about the man himself? I always respect guys with lots of heart which he had, and considering the size difference he gave up in some of his fights, I must say the fact that he was as dominant as he was is fairly impressive.
