    Fucking Wisconsin

What sort of issues are we talking about here? Self-inflicted or brought upon by a corrupt police department/city hall or what? I don't know much about police departments in cities, but I do know that some of the more corrupt stories I've heard have involved Milwaukee. What a horrible place to live in.

When did Middle Class become bad? That's still pretty well off in my opinion. Anyway, Penn is the most talented and gifted fighter around, and very exciting. I don't really have any problems with his attitude. Angus Glen eh? That's pretty far up north, past 16th I think, or close to it. If I knew that then I would have guessed you were white. Asian Markham is closer to the Pacific Mall area.

I actually did like that episode, and the second half was decent, if a little inconsistent. But that first half totally killed the momentum that Season Two built up. So many different convoluted storylines that just didn't go anywhere. Pretty bad television.

Yeah! They're gonna suffer, might as well make them suffer some more. Next time I see a stray animal, I'm gonna torture then kill it. It's okay, he probably would have suffered anyway! Watch out for those wild cows too, not because they're gonna eat us but because they're gonna go buy Blink 182 records and have babies at 12, ruining the fabric of our society. To WWM; while it's true that animals get killed by grain and harvesting combines and whatnot, there's a logical gap in there when you assume that makes it okay to just eat meat. By not eating meat you're still preventing more animals dying, and if there's a problem with the process in harvesting then that should be fixed, rather than just assuming the only viable option is to ignore it and eat meat.

Starvenger what's up with that ungodly av? But it did lead me to see that you're from Markham. Where abouts? Now I know you're oriental at the very least. I really don't want to see Jens Pulver win. That would be a complete drag, man.

I believe this makes you a sociopath, or at least is one of the main tendencies of one. I used to think that I felt this way too, but recently I've learned that I care a little about others, enough to make this a false hypothesis. Just a little.

This is how I feel really. If I think about it, I find the idea of animals suffering to be horrible, but meat tastes good so it's almost like the fact that they're dying is alright, because they're serving a purpose. It's selfish I suppose, but I'm a selfish person. It's almost like it's justified. Anyway, what makes you think you could be a cannibal? It's funny how the idea of eating human flesh appears, at least in my view, what you're sort of trying to "shock" us with there, but the process of snuffing out a human life is not really broached at all.

Better than anything from the forgettable Season Three (Both parts, though the second was a lot better) and maybe my favourite episode ever, right along there with the episode where they meet Walsh for the first time and the Sundance episode.

I think Tito's striking is pretty underrated, while I think Rashad's is overrated. I think Forrest's striking is pretty decent, and Tito was outstriking him on a torn mcl. Forrest's striking has actually improved a lot, compare the two Bonnar fights. Rashad has as well, but I still give Tito a slight edge here. We can't really argue this until the fight though. I don't think that he can't handle Tito, I mean I am picking Evans to win. But I just think that he would be better served at a lower weight. All those guys you mentioned are LHW now except for Imes, who sucks. I just think he looks a little soft at LHW and I think he can make MW. People that have trained with him told me he should drop, but he's skilled enough obviously to stay at LHW, but I think he could be a world champ at MW. He used to wrestle at 174 in college, so 185 shouldn't be too much of a stretch. I doubt he does it though, unless he loses a few which won't happen because he's really good. I just think he won't capture his true potential until he drops.

A lot of the animals do suffer in death, slaughterhouses aren't the most humane places around. But I understand what you mean about going all the way Vegan. I don't know much about the suffering that occurs when making dairy and other products related to eating meat products but not meat itself.

Since this card has created so much discussion, and lots of people have been bitching and getting at each other's throats over the fights, I say we make picks here for bragging rights. Let it be known that while I know a lot about MMA as a sport itself, I'm generally behind on keeping up with the fighters in it so I may be lagging in my picks here. We'll see. The final card one more time - MAIN CARD Champion Anderson Silva vs. Nate Marquardt (for middleweight title) Heath Herring vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz Champion Sean Sherk vs. Hermes Franca (for lightweight title) Kenny Florian vs. Alvin Robinson UNDERCARD Stephan Bonnar vs. Mike Nickels Drew Fickett vs. Chris Lytle Jorge Gurgel vs. Diego Saraiva Mark Bocek vs. Frank Edgar My picks from bottom to top are Edgar, Saraiva, Fickett, Bonnar, Florian, Sherk, Evans, Noguiera, Marquardt. Some explanations: - Edgar is just too well-rounded and probably has been preparing really well. Bocek has been at Tristar and New Mexico so you know he's getting ready but he's facing a HUUUUGE step up in comp here, and while I think with some more development he could pull it off, but he is just taking this fight too soon. Edgar is the new breed of mixed martial artist, and is what you will see more of in the future; a guy who trains hard both in being physically capable as well as slowly building himself up with some solid wins and honing his skills while doing so. Mark my words, him and Griffin will be two of the top lightweights for years to come, I think Bocek might get there but it's too soon for him to tell. Edgar is also ridiculously tough, as we saw from the kneebar. - Gurgel sucks, so I have to pick against him. Saraiva is pretty solid on the ground, and that's really Jorge's only chance. He couldn't sub Abbadi, and yeah. - Fickett vs. Lytle is a bit of a toss up for me, I think Fickett is more skilled but Lytle is very tough, and has been through the fire with some tough guys and hasn't been finished other than a cut stoppage. Still, I see Fickett pounding him out for three rounds for a decision. Lytle can only KO him quickly on the feet early or take advantage when he's tired, that's pretty much it. - Bonnar because Nickels sucks, but I'm actually looking forward to watching this. I will try to see it eventually. Is there something wrong with me? - Robinson was beat up by Holanda, who while a great submission guy isn't known for much else except for some decent wrestling. The fact that it happened near the end of the second round, when Holanda was probably huffing and puffing like he'd just climbed up a long flight of stairs, makes me think that Robinson must have been more gassed. Florian gets hated on way too much, he takes this in dominating fashion and gains some more fans in the process. - Sherk just has a good style to beat Franca, but I want Franca to win. I don't see it happening, as Sherk has great cardio, is consistent and will just come in and GnP Franca for five lacklustre rounds. Will probably be a disappointing fight, though Franca might pull a haymaker out of his ass. - Ortiz is a better striker than Evans, who contrary to the Salmon fight, can't really kick well. You won't see him pull that off in this fight. Ortiz is also really good in the clinch as a wrestler, better than Evans there as well. But Ortiz doesn't use the clinch very often, reacts poorly to getting hit, and has no cartilage in his knees anymore. I think Rashad is more athletic (HA!) but also has the better shot at this point in Tito's career. Rashad's gas tank is good, but is it as good as Titos? His BJJ is definitely not as good as Tito's. This is one of those fights that while not a CHampionship fight should be a five rounder (like Okami vs. Franklin) This is the hardest fight for me to pick, and it's not helping that I really like both guys. It's really a coinflip as there's lots of questions coming in. How's Tito going to react to someone that can outwrestle him? Ditto for Rashad, against someone with better ground skills than Salmon? How will Rashad handle the fact that Tito has the best cardio in the business? How will Tito deal with Rashad's now brutal GnP? Lucky for Tito Rashad doesn't put a lot of pressure on the feet, but in a coinflip, I'm just gonna have to go with Evans, because of the Lambert fight and the fact that he's got youth and a lack of injuries on his side. The fact that I Think he could drop down to 185 if he wanted to may be a factor, but I'll ignore that for now. He'd definitely be a champ at that weightclass, we'll see how he fares against one of the bigger 205'ers in Ortiz, but I'm taking him in a very tough fight. - C'mon, Noguiera is immune to chance and flukes and upsets. Like Sherk, extremely consistent and doesn't fuck around. Will beat Herring up worse than the previous two attempts combined. - Like Evans vs. Ortiz, there's lots of questions with Nate vs. Anderson, but I watched the Doerksen fight again and Nate went strong into the final round. Anderson is not as good off of his back as Doerksen and won't provide as much action and pressure. I think if Nate takes him down, which he will, he can finish him. If this were a three rounder, I'd pick Nate pretty comfortably, as it stands I'm a little unsure. Nate's probably not going to finish him, so as weird as it sounds the longer this goes, the more I favour Anderson. I think he has potential to end it in the later rounds. But Nate will be ready, so I guess I have to go with my head over my heart on this one and pick Nate in a decision in what should be a great fight.

But aren't you the same guy who said Chris Leben would be able to take Anderson Silva's "weak punches"(well you said something to the extent of Anderson not being able to punch out of a wet paper bag), and would dry hump Anderson Silva in-route to desicion? Breen loves Nate, so it doesn't suprise me to see him thinking Nate is going to win. But unless Nate doesn't sub Anderson in 2 rounds, he's getting KO'd bad. Nate is worlds apart from Leben, so I don't think that's a good comparison here. And we should move all this discussion to the UFC 73 thread.

Best movie of 2007 so far?

Perhaps, but as has been stated pretty clearly in the thread, most of the oscar-type movies don't come out till the end of the year anyway. I have only seen Knocked Up, so I guess that's the default pick. Why would I spend all my time watching stuff from 2007 when there are so many better older movies? There's nothing this year that stands out to me this year, all the hype is from the threequels.

Some people don't like seeing animals suffer unnecessarily. I can see where they're coming from, and I respect it. I know V-X said it was mainly for health reasons, but I'm sure some ethics are involved as well. Good for him. Personally, I've thought about giving up meat, and I still do once in awhile. My indecision has nothing to do with whether or not I can do it but more to do with I don't know how I feel about it entirely, whether it would be wrong or not. I've never felt that it was, so I've never given up meat. I've come close though, and maybe with a little more research I might go all the way. Not yet though.

Shamrock GnP's en route to a UD, ala Couture/Sylvia. You heard it here first. Whoa, what? I would love to see Tanner back, but I think this fight would be bullshit because Swick isn't going back to 185. If this happens, someone's getting murdered, either Tanner looking for the clinch and walking into Swick's high-speed strikes or Swick after getting taken and getting destroyed with Tanner's GnP, like Loiseau would have done had his mind been in the right place.

That's exactly it. The fight with Lister was one-sided, while he had to work against Doerksen. If you think getting tagged by Menno Joe will affect your cardio, than just see what it's like to get hit by Anderson.
