There's definitely a market in Canada. I would say Montreal is a bigger MMA city than anywhere in the U.S., save for maybe certain parts of SoCal. Once it gets legalized in Ontario its popularity there will skyrocket.

Hmm, why would he want to leave City Boxing? I don't care about the management, judging from what I've heard he is doing a good thing by ditching them as they almost got him blackballed, but from all accounts City Boxing is a good school and is what pretty much brought him up to where he is today. Not necessarily from the very start, but from when he was an amateur to now. -
What was the segment with stuff being pulled out of his ass? Good read btw, thanks.

Couture vs. Nog is something I've been personally wanting to see for years. I hope that happens in the UFC with elbows. That would be a tremendous fight. I also want to see Chuck knock out Shogun (which is what would happen) and Fedor bounce Tim Sylvia's head off the mat. Fedor in a cage? Awesome.

Can you provide a link to the page as well? It would be nice to see what video caused the comments.

I agree that bringing WP back can only mean good things. -
I actually think the undercard looks fairly solid.

This is probably going to be the season I will be most into, because I just d/l a 2 gig folder featuring a bunch of fights with all the TUF guys in it. I look forward to watching a bunch of shitty fights, and a few good ones.

Inc, Czech, Al and CC.

From what I remember, those slips were pretty technical. BJ Penn is more than a brawler, he just looks that way because of his body type and attitude.
-
I can find a copy of the dvd to d/l online, I guess I Might have to take that route, I'd just prefer to watch that fight right now. It's a great card regardless so I wouldn't mind. I guess I'll have to settle for watching Gomi get his ass whooped by BJ, another link that I was looking for that I did find.

So Lyoto is gonna have another "notable" win against a LW? -
But the second and third rounds that Georges squeaked out are not as definitive as that first one. I will watch it again to give it another look. Link Plz.

What jobs dont need a specific college degree?

Not necessarily, in Canada there's a huge shortage of people in trades. If you decide to get in that field you can make a serious killing pretty quickly. -
Heh, I don't know why I brought up the Sanchez thing because I think Koscheck is going to win too, I think I might have been responding to someone else with that. I haven't seen much of Joslin but from what I have I don't see him as being more technical. GSP overall is more well rounded I think. His boxing is very smooth (10-0 Amateur record as well as sparring on a regular basis with some of the best in the nation) plus he has great low kicks, I guess from his Karate background (which Joslin also has). His punches are very tight and crisp, and his athleticism helps as well. I will watch more Joslin and get back to you on that. I do know that BJ Penn tooled GSP on the feet though. He just slipped by his punches and mashed up his face. I have to see that fight again because I want to see how Georges would have won. I can't find a link, if someone could provide one that would be awesome.

No way is Joslin arguably the best striker at 170. GSP is better than him, as is BJ Penn if you include him. Duane Ludwig is at 170, and while he has a bad KO loss to Morgan I still say that doesn't change the fact that he's a world class striker. I think you're selling Diego a little short here, as I think he has arguably better MMA jiu jitsu than you think. First of all he's proven in No Gi judging by his ADCC performances, and also the guy has not been outgrappled by anybody in MMA really, including against guys like Diaz and Karo. His striking is obviously improving, as shown with the KO against a much larger Riggs.

As a Canadian student, I was wondering what sort of bureaucratic processes I had to go through in order to get the proper paperwork to be eligible to work in the United States. I was thinking this summer but I'm assuming the process might take too long for that to be feasible. Does anyone here know exactly what I'd have to do in order to work in the US temporarily?

Working in the United States
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in General Chat
*BUZZ* Wrong. It doesn't matter though, I've found a program that might take care of the paperwork for me. Whatever, I am probably just going to get a job in Toronto for the summer. It just won't be as fun as checking out a new place, that's all. -
Well he said for some of the fighters. It's funny how all the notable fights brought up are losses, save the one where the guy beat up the friggin coach.

You can really tell by looking at them how many of them should be LW and how many should be 145. Lots of differences in size among guys that are supposed to be in the same weight class.
-
Hey, that cuts deep. He's fighting Leben soon I think so we'll see how well he handles someone less skilled with a ton of heart, moreso than anyone else. I can't see Belcher running through Jason Macdonald like that either.

Diego is very aggressive off of his back though, and actually has a really good guard. ADCC is proof of this. Although that's not MMA grappling, the guy has proven himself to be tough as nails with a relentless pitbull style so he's not gonna get phased when put on his back. In their first fight he got put on his back the whole time but kept working. Against Karo when he got put down he had great movement and took Karo's back even. Fuck all the haters, Diego is awesome. But Koscheck is awesomer. His performances against Chalangov and Goulet should not be overlooked as he steamrolled the both of them. He survived the guard of someone who is just below Diego in terms of grappling ability in Joslin. He didn't look so hot on the feet, but Diego is not that great on the feet either. I'd say if he doesn't gas, which he shouldn't, he should prove himself to win a decision. I'm going on a limb here, but I have this about 51-49 Koscheck, pulling stats out of my ass as I am. I'd be interested in seeing Leites kill Sell on the broadcast. All the fights on the main card are compelling save the main event I think. Most of Sherdog is ripping this yet loving 70 and I feel the opposite. I don't know why I still visit the damn place at all. Belcher isn't as good as Kalib, so again I will go on a limb and say that Grove should be able to take him out considering how much he's improved since TUF 3 has aired.
